First Dr Who pic of Jenna-Louise Coleman

Here's the first Doctor Who picture of Jenna-Louise Coleman, looking rather Richard Branson-like in her big jumper. They're obviously trying to de-sex her a little to tone down the babe within. Good luck with that.

Prometheus TV trailer

Some new scenes from the science fiction movie Prometheus, via the US television advert. Go Ridley Scott. I think you should get extra points for each von Däniken Chariots of the Gods reference you can spot when watching this film.

Battlestar Galactica Blood and Chrome trailer

Here's the re-booted Battlestar prequel featuring the adventures of young Adama. Set during the the First Cylon War, we get to see William Adama as a young fighter pilot operating under call sign Husker. Accompanied by Coker, he is ordered to escort a young woman, who eventually turns out to have vital information that carries significant importance to Cylon secrets.

Let's hope that this survives the various anti-science fiction feelings that seem to be circulating the genre following various DOA TV series that have been running recently in the States, not to mention a certain Mr Carter and his budget losses on Mars!

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

And here's another trailer for everyone's favourite honest President and Buffy-a-like vampire slaying head of state. That would be Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, dufus. Their next film is going to be Margaret Thatcher Demon Slayer. Well, maybe.

Arrow (as in Green)

Here's the first photo from the Arrow TV series (that's as in 'Green', as in 'DC Comics'). We are promised dark things for this, as opposed to Smallville Continued, by Arrow executive producer David Nutter.

"When I directed the pilot for Smallville, I knew that making Clark Kent relatable would be the key to audiences believing in him as a hero. Arrow is a different show — darker and harder-edged — but it's the same core idea. We're creating a real, believable world in which Oliver Queen can do incredible things,' muses our David.

Now, Hawkeye vs Green Arrow… who wins, who loses?

Prometheus – superfat trailer

It seems that trailers for Ridley Scott's science fiction movie Prometheus are like buses, too, arriving in pairs after long waits. Here's the expanded extra-long trailer that plays up the horror elements. This one really shows the Alien heritage – including the bridge of the lander, which is the spit of the Nostromo.

New Prometheus trailer

Brace for entry, gentlemen. It's the new trailer for the Ridley Scott film, Prometheus. This trailer has some serious starship landing action. As the writer behind the Sliding Void series, I kind of appreciate that, you know.

New Riddick film – Katee Sackhoff photo

The first photo of Katee Sackhoff (aka Starbuck) in the new Riddick film has just surfaced on Vin's FaceBook page. Glad to see that you were listening to my pleas, Vin Diesel. There's also a caged alien from the film. I don't know who looks more pissed off between the pair of them!

Dark Shadows trailer

You know the current vampire/horror boom is running out of legs when the genre starts getting the whole comedy exploitation thang. That being said, Dark Shadows looks like a hoot. A 19th century vampire (Barnabas Collins) and the witch that cursed him make it into the 1970s and re-start their ancient feud. It stars the ever-reliable Johnny Depp, who was a big fan of the original sixties comedy TV series of which this is of course, a re-boot.

Extra points if you can tell me which of my Jackelian fantasy novels from HarperCollins featured a character called Barnabas (also a subtle tribute to Mr Collins)?

Steampunk Star Wars

Here's some great artwork from the talented hand of Bjorn… who obviously loves steampunk and Star Wars. Now that's quite a combination, as these paintings of a steampunked stormtrooper and a steampunked Chewie clearly demonstrates.
