Why I’m Moving to #GoogleDrive
When you write all the time, you need to be able to write all the time. 5 years ago it was my Neo, 2 years ago it was my flash drive. Over the last couple months I’ve been experimenting with dictating directly into my phone using the Quickoffice app.
Using this app allowed me to write everywhere without carrying a semi-bulky piece of equipment around or having to wait until I was at a PC before I could write. Okay, a Neo really isn’t bulky- it’s only about 3 pounds. But in this day and age where everything is smaller and faster, anything that doesn’t fit in the palm of your hand that is meant to be on the go is big.
I recently got back into Google Docs which has been rebranded as Google Drive. I used it on a collaborative project that fell through two years ago where I can create a doc on any computer with an internet connection and be able to edit and add to it from anywhere. The programmers were smart by making it as close to MS Word as legally possible so anyone who uses it will instantly be familiar with the format. Now that I have a Kindle and a smartphone, I can use both with Drive as well. My Droid has a specific app and I can use the internet with my Kindle. A truly great feature to Drive is the auto-save feature which updates continually. The drawback to Quickoffice was the app tended to crash unexpectedly (especially when I hadn’t saved in 3 or more paragraphs) and that I could only edit that document on my phone unless I emailed it to myself.
With Drive I can use my phone, Kindle, and PC, which is great because detailed editing just isn’t convenient on my phone. I don’t have to worry about overlapping versions of one document. I even had my phone and my Kindle the other night, working on a doc and what I typed on one, updated to the other.
I’ve downloaded Drive for my phone and PC, but as of yet I have not seen the app for Kindle. There are some editing shortcomings with Kindle, like the inability to bold or italicize text, but hopefully that gets figured out soon (or at least get put in a more conspicuous place).

Writer looking for job or opportunity #CraigsList #amwriting
I write from a very existential point of view, on modern day topics, with a vast education and knoweldge in many things, but mostly wisdom. I have been told I write very well even though I have been out of service for a while after dropping out of university. I have studied psychology and philosophy and have a great deal of life experience to add to my writers personality. I am looking for any writing gig just to get my opinion out there, for something to do, to help artists or progressive individuals in their causes and or businesses… I am unemployed and live a boring life, and writing is my passion, and all that satisfies me. I Need this, somebody, please. Help me.
I don’t want to embarrass this person, but this post wreaks of desperation. I almost want to reach out to him, to see what he (I’m assuming he) is really trying to do. If I’m looking for a writer to do something for me, I’m not looking to ‘help’, I’m looking for help. If you want to put yourself out there on CL or any other website, keep the desperation at a low simmer. Instead, use your text to showcase your skills. Tell the world what you’re capable of and not just that you have a passion. Someone telling you you write well isn’t good enough. Who is that person and what are his/her qualifications? Reference something you’ve written that I can judge for myself. If you have a book on Amazon that pertains to what you propose to do for me, put up a link to it where I can read reviews or maybe purchase and read myself.
I’ve been in this position before, but thankfully before Craig’s List so I couldn’t put up this sort of post. If this person has that great of a passion he should pour his effort into putting something out for publication and showing the world his passion. He should be his own boss and publish his own story or if he needs the validation, send that book off to a publisher that takes unagented submissions. I wish him the best of luck.
I’m working on a new location, this time outside of the SE Michigan area. I don’t want to reveal anything yet because a lot of libraries are a little gunshy, but we’ll see. More soon. In the meantime, if you haven’t joined the FB page for How to Publish on Kindle, Smashwords, & Nook the Easy Way! please like it here.

30 Minute Plan reaches 50 Reviews on #Amazon
My free zombie short, 30 Minute Plan just received its 50th review on Amazon. I wrote this short as a means of testing out the self-publishing waters back in 2011 and have gotten a full range of reviews. But I’m happy that at least fifty people thought enough to write a review of it and I hope this ball keeps rolling.
As an aside, I have been giving more thought to a prequel. Not much to say about it except it would explore Danton’s not-so-humble beginnings in prison.
If you liked this tale, why not check out some of my other zombie stories, like Fleshbags, The Zombie Show, or I, Keveny? Yes, that’s a zombie story too.

What to Say? #amwriting
Even though I’m looking forward to speaking at the Bloomfield Township Public Library’s ‘Beneath the Surface‘ event on July 11, I’m a little worried. It’s really the first I’ve ever done anything like this and I’m not sure exactly what to do. I mean, by the time I’m there I will have already taught my first class on e-publishing at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library. But that’s different- I have a definite itinerary and know my subject matter inside and out.
I’m just wondering what to say about being a horror writer. I’ll give my credentials and how I became a fan of the genre, but how in-depth should I get? Do I talk about blood and gore? About the constant feel of something just outside of eye’s reach? About something hungry and decidedly non-human coming up the basement stairs?
I’ll probably read an excerpt from my latest upcoming work. Maybe I’ll field some questions too. Hopefully, there will be an aspiring writer or two in the audience. I’m still looking for more libraries to visit, though, and hopefully, this will be the first of many.

Lazy Literary Agents In Self-Publishing Money Grab via Argo Navis
Reblogged from David Gaughran:

I was at the London Book Fair last week - and I'll be blogging about that soon - when the news broke that David Mamet is to self-publish his next book.
His reasons? "Publishing is like Hollywood—nobody ever does the marketing they promise."
While I think it's great that someone as high-profile as David Mamet is self-publishing, I was very disappointed to find out the
I read the article on David Mamet and untended to write a list on it, but this is so much more succinct than what I was planning.
