Fall Colors Under Water
These reminded me of fall, all the orange and yellow koi.
But here were fall leaves in the water where the fish were swimming too. So it was really spectacular.
That's where I have to find my fall colors. Under water! :)
I'm working on the final edits on Highland Rake today, so hoping to get it published soon! :)
Then it's back to poor Elizabeth's ski injury! I'm rough on my characters! :)

Which Comes First? Jaguar? Man?

Okay, after Loretta gave me a fun time with the wolf at the ocean, and it was beautiful, I wanted to see how to do that too. :) Remember, I'm supposed to be writing! But I couldn't help myself!!!

So I really, really wanted to wish you a happy TGIF, AND!!! Which comes first? The cat or the man?
Which would you prefer meeting first?

Coyotes and Fall Colors

Note how they are together? Even when they were pacing like wolves do, they were together or constantly crossed each others path, pack behavior.
And for fall!
Here are some pictures that Mary's husband took in Barson, Michigan where he was hunting.

I have to have friends send fall pictures to remind me how the other half live!!! :) She was generous enough to share these with me to share with any who need a reminder of what fall looks like!

Beautiful!
So it's time to decorate for Thanksgiving, and my pyracantha is also in beautiful form!

Have a lovely Thursday!!!
If you celebrate Thanksgiving, are you having turkey or something else??? :)

Orangutan Juvenile and Her Blanky!

I wish I could have made the fence go away, but it wouldn't. LOL So here is the juvenile orangutan eating from a box. Not sure if it's female or male, but someone who was watching it, said the monkey has worn blankets since it was a baby! :) I wonder if she will ever outgrow it! I'm taking a wild guess that it's a she because the blanket is pink.

You know, boxes can be the best play things!

Here, she's trying to read what it says. :)
When she's as big as the huge one that was in the enclosure with her, the mother, probably, the blanket will be only a scarf for her head. :)
Here is the momma. She was huge. Unfortunately, the camera operator took a great picture of the fence!

Do you ever have days like this? Where you just want to pull the blanket over your head and let the world go on about you without a care in the world?

The Bears!

First, here's a doctor bear, taking care of a human baby.

But here's what inspires all those beloved teddy bears in the first place.

I had a better picture of his back side!See how soft his fur looks? No wonder they look so adorably cuddle-able.
Just like this fellow? He's just lying around, watching the clouds go by. He is the last of my hand wooden carved face bears. My dad made the faces. He's a 19" fully jointed plush bear with suede paws.

In Legend of the White Wolf, two of the hero's PI partners are hunting bear in Maine. They end up in much more trouble than they bargained for, dragging him into the situation, too.
And now--Legend of the White Wolf is in stock at Amazon!!!
http://www.amazon.com/Legend-White-Wolf-Terry-Spear/dp/1402219059/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpi_4

The 4th book in Terry Spear’s Werewolf series can easily be a stand alone read. In Legend of the White Wolf she takes us on a suspense filled journey to the frozen forest of Maine. Spear’s attention to vivid detail and emotions makes it impossible not to feel as if you are right there with the characters, feeling the cold bite of an arctic wind, or enjoying the warmth as your fingers run through a wolf’s fur. The characters come off the pages and grab your attention quickly. Legend of the White Wolf will have you wondering who the good guys really are, and turning pages all night long!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cameron MacPherson has come to Maine, determined to find his two Seattle PI business partners who are late returning from their hunting trip. Faith O’Malley is there to track down her ex-boyfriend who stole her father’s secret research. When the hotel mistakenly gives Faith the key to Cameron’s room they are both surprised at the sudden attraction between them. Business, not pleasure is foremost on their minds. They soon find that their investigations are heading in the same direction, and they are suddenly involved with murders, mystical wolves, and a group of fanatics determined to prove the existence of werewolves.
Everything changes in the frozen backcountry as the passion between them can no longer be denied and heats up as they work as a team. However, when a wolf attacks and Cameron is bitten they soon realize that there is more to the legends of mystical wolves than just a story. Now they must work with the lupus garou pack to solve the murders, save the pack, and the future of the entire lupus garou world. But when the alpha male sets his sights on Faith can a newly changed Cameron survive the challenge and claim Faith for himself?
Have you read Legend of the White Wolf? If so, please feel free to leave a comment letting others know what you think.~~Rhonda V, Vampire Romance Books ****************************************************************
We had a lot of bears roaming around eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, in people's trees, tearing down their beehives, peering in windows, running along highways, you name it.
They might look cute and cuddly, but they're dangerous. It's best to stick to teddy bears if you have a hankering to hug one.
So the doctor bear, golden distressed mohair, wearing his antique spectacles wants to know...
Have you hugged a bear today?
A Salute to Men and Woman in Uniform! by Terry Spear
:)
I will be at Discover a New Love with a chat with other Sourcebooks authors who have written military-military related books, some of us who were also in the military. It's a chat at 8 PM EST, or 2000 hours. :) I'll be giving away a copy of both A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing and Savage Hunger, since the first features men in the military, and the second has a woman in the military. :)
I salute all our men and women who serve and have served in the military, which includes my father, mother, grandfather, and scores of others--including one of my kin who was in the Blackwatch! :)
First the Lions, then the Tigers, You Know What's Next, Right?
Here is a picture of cub in the foreground and momma in the background.
And here are two of the cubs, all three were there, but you couldn't see him on the other side of the one sitting up. But these two were playing. :)
They looked like they would be fun to play with. But you know how it is to play with a kitten when they have their claws out??? :)
Lazy Lion!
Lots of animals were very active at the Cameron Park Zoo, but not the lions! Lazy old lion!
And here is a view of those BIG paws! They are huge. Imagine getting a swipe from one of them! In Savage Hunger, I mention how powerful a jaguar's paws are and one swat can either stun or kill its prey. Jaguars are the third largest cat. This lion is the biggest! :) So if a jaguar can do that, can you imagine what it would be like to get swatted by a lion???
Here are the lazy lionesses!
And here is the most active the lion was--when he stretched out his paws. I was hoping to get a view of his claws as he stretched, but wasn't able to. I think they were retracting just as the picture took.
In one of my books, I talk about how the heroine hears the lion roar on the wind because the beast's roar carries that far! I lived in Glen Burnie, Maryland and would hear the lion roar all the way from the Baltimore zoo occasionally!
Lions have prides, so he's got his two girlfriends. In the tiger exhibit, I'll show the momma and her three tiger cubs next.
Do you ever wonder why the cats are all so different? Why most run alone, but the lions have a pride? Laziness, maybe? I mean, the ladies catch his meal, and he doesn't have to go far for dessert afterward!
:)
What do you think?
Where is the Alligator in this Picture???
I took these pictures at the Cameron Park Zoo, and actually you can see this HUGE alligator, looked to be about 10 feet long, in the shadows cast by the overhanging trees over the green water.
But when you look at the picture, the mottled shadowing makes the alligator all but disappear. He has a massive head exposed though. Can you see it? It's out of the water. Look near the sandy bank.
Still can't see it? Look to the left of the white sandy bank.
Here's the rest of him hidden underwater. He doesn't look very big from this distance, but he was huge and his head massive. If he got a hold of you, he'd say, "Hmm, doesn't taste like fishy chicken at all to me." Interesting how his body was reflected so there's two of him! One of them is wicked enough!
And here's a much smaller alligator who was standing on his feet. Again, the windows reflected the alligator, making it appear there's another one behind him, so we get a shot of his back and his front in one picture. But I couldn't get his head at that angle.
Looking above, here's the rest of him! He's watching you watching him.
Anyone ready for a swim?
We used to swim in a Florida canal until we heard alligators had gotten people's dogs. We lived across the street from a jungle-like swamp and used to explore it. What were we thinking?
So when I wrote Savage Hunger and Connor was carrying Kathleen across the log and you couldn't see what was in the water, this was exactly what I was envisioning.
Owls Remind Me of Hairy Potter...
But I think of owls when I think of Merlin and King Arthur, too.
The purple lights and smudged glass windows made some of the shots hard to get, but the top one of a Great Horned Owl was pretty great! Owls are predators, and he's looking at you! His beak is open too, and he's about to catch his prey.
This is a smaller Screech Owl that I almost missed sitting way down below in his glassed-in room.
This owl's feathers looked purple and orange in the purple lights, very pretty owl. This is a Barn Owl--spots on its breast, white face, I had to take a picture of what he was sitting on...an old tea kettle!
These two are Barred Owls/Hoot Owls/Striped/Swamp Owls and were in the same room. Their feathers and walls appear like the bark of trees, more of their natural habitat. The second one almost looks like artwork with the striped bird against the striped wall, only he had to twist his head and wink.
Here's winking at you, kid. :)
I used to collect owls when I was a kid. They made me think of wise old owls. I loved them. But later, it was bears. Sorry owls. :)
I used to have an old hoot owl living in a partially dead tree outside my bedroom window. I loved listening to it hoot at night.
Merlin Bear
Do you remember a book that I mentioned about an old hoot owl in?
When you think of owls, how do you see them? Clever? Familiars? Harry Potter? Merlin? Something else?
