Vargul Ashnazai vs. the Predator!

Hey folks, my publisher is running a fun contest over on Suvudu. They are matching villains from books they've published in cage matches and letting readers vote on who they think would win. Today Vargul Ashnazai, Mardus's weasely necromancer side kick, squares off against the Predator (from the Predator movies).

Here's how I envision the match. There's a link at the bottom of the write up which gtakes you to a prediction of who will win, and gives you the chance to vote.

It's all for fun. Hope you'll show VA some love!

Itty Bitty Knitty

I just ordered a book on amigurumi,, the Japanese art of knitting tiny animals. So cute!

In part it's a test of my fine motor skill (not to mention patience) and eyesight, none of which are what they once were. I have a troubling tremor in my hands, which will be checked out by a neurologist next month. Hmmm. Anyway, looking forward to trying to produce tiny octopi.

My Cheatin' Heart

I never thought I could love another electronic device as much as I do my iPhone, but then I met the new generation Kindle. First it was the cute commercials. Then it was the gateway drug Kindle app on my phone. I snapped and asked for one for my birthday, and it was love at first sight. The crisp text and illustrations, the easy-to-use controls, the adjustable font size, the wallet-emptying ease of buying books from the comfort of bed or couch, and the prospect of encasing it in a gorgeous handmade leather cover from Oberon Design. I was lost. I wouldn't say I love it more than my iPhone—or Doug, for that matter—but I am well and truly smitten. Even my knitting is suffering!

"Where's my copy of GLIMPSES??"

If you ordered your signed copy from Mysterious Galaxy, this is for you. Patrick just let me know that due to the overwhelming popularity of the book and number of orders, it's taking some time to get all the mailings out. He begs for your patience; the books are coming!

Birthday Redux

Well, I've had a wonderful birthday. Spent the morning noodling around the new generation Kindle Doug gave me, and downloading Josh Lanyon's latest, Blood Heat. Gave myself the afternoon off and went knitting at the Yarn Deli. I'm on square four of twenty on my Aran afghan. Was taken out for sushi and sake for supper, read lots of much appreciated feliciatations on line all day, and now am settling down in my comfy robe to read a little more before the new Criminal Minds. My sister sent me a beautiful beeswax candle which is scenting the room as I write. All I need now is tea. Altogether a relaxing, restorative day. Thanks to all who sent greetings and artwork!

Back to work tomorrow.
