Osama Bin Laden
I'm managing a certain equanimity regarding Bin Laden's death. He created his karma and he reaped what he sowed.
But I did laugh a bit through the following, and agree with Jon on how this changes the image of Muslims. Let us think of the young people demonstrating in the streets for freedom and human rights, not Bin Laden and his ilk.

What's In A Name?
Well, "Daisy" doesn't seem to suit this little rascal. She seems to be more of a Zoe (ZOH-ee: Greek for "life"). Other thoughts were "Katy" and "Koa" (a Hawaiian wood used to make ukuleles, the grain of which Zoe's markings resemble).
So that's her name for today. Some beings are harder to pin a name to than others.

In Honor of the Royal Nuptials
Since we have a number of Brits and Anglophiles in our knitting circle, we are having our own royal wedding affair at the Yarn Deli today. Of course, one must have a proper hat, so I commissioned one from the famous California hatter, Misha Laneous. He threw together this lovely wabi sabi, Ikibana-inspired chapeau for me, featuring the Princess Diana rose from my garden that blossomed yesterday. Notice too, the famous Beaulieu-Flewelling jewels, which I retrieved from the family deposit box. The finest New York Herkimer and Chinese CZ diamonds money can buy. They've been in the family for years, darlings.
I did watch the Royal Wedding (recorded) and thought it was lovely. Kate is about as pretty as anyone could be, and they look very happy together.

Yes, Another Dog Post
I'm delighted to say that Daisy is fitting in well with what is now most certainly a pack. It's interesting to watch the dynamics develop. At the moment Daisy is crawling over Emma and Emma is tolerating her, feeling a bit out of sorts, since Daisy took her spot next to Doug earlier. Yesterday they spent some time playing. Jack has set definite limits: she's not to bother him while he's lying on "his" love seat or he'll roar at her. And he has quite a roar. But he is sniffing her a lot, and even played a little yesterday. If she comes up on him unexpectedly and too fast he'll rumble, but no violence. **Update: he has one of her toys and is getting her to chase him.
Daisy is a delightful terror. She's a chewer and we have to make sure she has lots of alternatives. I went to the puppy toy store (Petsmart) yesterday for supplies. She loves squeaky plush toys and balls.
She had her first sangha night yesterday. Emma and Jack are not good sangha dogs, and spend the evening either with Doug down at his office or in their crates. The latter is not a good alternative, since they bark. To socialize Daisy, I let her stay, and had the members give her puppy treats in greeting. She was a little shy, but friendly, and spent the sitting mediations curled up asleep in my lap. The walking mediation confused her; why was everyone going so slow?! During tea time, which ran late, she curled up under the table at my feet and slept.
Overall, the pack is coming along nicely. :-)

Better Video of the dogs
(The dogs were very confused as I was playing these back, hearing my voice from the computer.)

Daisy on Youtube
I realized after I posted this that I need to hold the iPhone sideways. Oh well. Here's a narrow glimpse of puppy play, for those of you who need a fix. I'll do better next time.
