Nurses Vote to Authorize a Strike
The 200 or so nurses at the Greenfield hospital voted by a 93 percent margin to authorize a strike. This gives their elected union leaders the power to call a strike if current contract negotiations fail. The next bargaining session is set for March 27, Joe Markham told the Valley Post on March 21. He works for the nurses' union, which has a web site at www.MassNurses.org.

Photos: Protesters Arrested at TD Bank
Three protesters were arrested for non-violent civil disobedience at the TD Bank in downtown Brattleboro on February 22 as 50 or so supporters sang "We Shall Overcome." They want TD Bank to stop funding construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, which would carry oil that causes climate change. Two of the people arrested were Tim Stevenson and Daniel Sicken (pronounced "SEE-kin"). The Valley Post will update this article with the name of the third protester, a woman, as soon as possible.
