Son Little Concert is January 25
Soul singer Son Little will perform a concert at the Parlor Room in Northampton on January 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance. This month he is performing in Australia. In February, Little will play in Hawaii. You can hear one of his songs at:

Fight for $15 Minimum Wage
Activists fighting for a $15 an hour minimum wage are offering carpool rides from the Valley to a rally in Boston on November 29. The minimum wage is now $10 an hour in Massachusetts, $9.60 in Vermont, and $7.25 in New Hampshire.
The Massachusetts minimum wage will be $11 starting January 1, 2017. Vermont's minimum wage will be $10 starting January 1, 2017 and $10.50 starting January 1, 2018. In New Hampshire, no increases are scheduled.

2,000 March Against Trump
More than 2,000 people marched in Springfield on November 13 to protest the policies proposed by Donald Trump. These policies include cutting taxes for the rich, cutting programs that help poor people, making it easier for oil companies to cause climate change, deporting immigrants, and banning abortion.

Gay Rights Rally is November 9
In Springfield, there will be a rally for LGBTI rights November 9 at 9 a.m. LGBTI means lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or intersex. The rally will be outside the federal courthouse at 300 State Street.

In Brattleboro on November 4, about 200 people attended a march and rally in solidarity with Native Americans who are fighting to stop a proposed oil pipeline in North Dakota. The rally was outside TD Bank, which is funding the pipeline. The below photo shows the rally. Standing Rock March is Nov. 4 in Brattleboro
Hundreds of people have been arrested in recent weeks as part of a Native American-led effort to stop a proposed oil pipeline at Standing Rock in North Dakota. The pipeline is bring funded by TD Bank. On November 4 in Brattleboro, there will be a protest outside TD Bank. The protest will start at 5 p.m. at 215 Main Street. Photos: Lynx in the Valley
This month, a Vermont government scientist made public two photos of a Canada lynx. One of the photos was taken this year in Searsburg, Vermont, which is about seven miles from Massachusetts and 30 minutes from Brattleboro by car. The other photo was taken this year in Londonderry, Vermont, also about 30 minutes from Brattleboro. Lynx are listed as “threatened” under the federal Endangered Species Act and “endangered” in the state of Vermont.
