What's Next?

So the rough draft of my second novel is 'in the can', to borrow a film colloquialism, and a question I've gotten from time to time has been 'what's next?'.

Well, that's a good question. Of course, I still need to do refining on Peret and then there's book three, Shomu, to write, but that shouldn't be too bad and you can expect to see more on that in coming months. I am also working on ideas for a collection of 5 short stories/novellas dealing with past Sekhmet avatars which I'm titling the...

I'm incredible frustrated!

This is something that has bothered me for a long time and I really feel the need to address it, so please bear with me for a bit of a political rant:

To people on BOTH sides of the political spectrum:

Sarcasm, personal attacks, and acts of violence/vandalism aren't going to change anyone's mind. In fact, more than likely, it will harden their resolve against your viewpoint and make you look like an asshole.

The last time I checked we here in America are allowed, nay, we are...

Rant

So, I've been reading a few of the free books I downloaded on my Kindle and I've noticed a troubling trend… Bear with me here while I get up on my soap box for a moment.

To all writers out there:

A woman does NOT need to have been victimized, beaten, raped, brutalized, neglected by Daddy, etc to be interesting. Not every man is a predator, rapist, sadist, jerk, etc who's just looking for an opportunity to victimize, beat, rape, brutalize, neglect. Not every person in authority is a sadistic...

Reviews

A couple of reviews have popped up for Akhet that I would love to share with you guys.

On BN.com:

Enjoyable Modern Fantasy with a Superheroic flavorPosted 07/09/10: Set in Egypt during the modern age this book delivers solid writing with an enjoyable storyline, and entertaining characters. The main character is very human as are the characters surrounding her. It's nice to see a main character that isn't capable of absolutely everything, that makes mistakes and has to learn from them and...

Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver:

I found out about this group during my monthly CERT leadership training. They brought in a member of our local SAR (Search and Rescue) team and at the end of his presentation, he told us about it. Although I don't have any family members who would need it, I know there are plenty of people out there who might and probably don't know about it. I certainly had never heard of them until the other night.

Be safe, everyone!

My Publishing Experiences

My friend Aaron's brother is finishing up his book and I was asked to share what I've gone through with publishing my book. In typing all this out in my email to him, it occured to me that it would be a good thing to share with the rest of my friends as well.

That said, I'll share what I've encountered and what I have learned so far.

First and foremost, you need to decide what platforms you want to offer your book in. Mine, for example, is available in both paperback (through Createspace.com w...
