2010
Another year down… one that's been an exciting one to say the least.
2010 has seen the publication of my first novel and the completion of the rough draft of the second. It's seen the formation of new friendships and the presentation of new opportunities.
There's tons to look forward to in the new year as well. I hope to be able to have Peret available for purchase by the end of March, and I'm hoping to set up a signing sometime before then as well.
I want to thank my friends and family for their love and support.

WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?
As opposed to an inhuman memory? Sorry, I jest.
Honestly, that's a tough question… I was pretty sickly as a young child and spent a lot of time in the hospital going through some battery of test or other. One of the very earliest memories I have is of an incident that was confirmed by my mother.
She took me in to the doctor for more tests and as he went to draw blood, I simply stuck my arm out and looked away like 'just go ahead and do it already'. I was about 3 at the time.

Veteran's Day
Today is the day that we should pause and reflect on those with the courage to serve in the armed forces. They are our fathers and mothers, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters. They have the courage to go toward danger when every instinct in them screams at them to run in the other direction as fast as they can.
On this day, I ask you to take a moment and remember the brave men and women who are far from home, whether you agree with them being away or not. As the child of a vet, and the friend of others, I know that they may be just as dubious as you, but they have a job to do and holding it against them is unfair in the extreme.
If you know or meet someone in the military or a vet, please, take a moment and thank them for their service. Even a smile can go a long way.

NaNoWriMo
Today, I officially kicked off work on the rewrite of Peret as part of NaNoWriMo. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a totally insane bid for thousands of writers all over the world to churn out 50,000 words in just 30 days.
Yeah, it sounds a bit intimidating, but it's just a matter of discipline. 50,000 words in 30 days breaks down to about 1700 words per day (every day). For someone like me, I tend to average 1000 - 1500 words per hour when I write, so bumping that up to 1700 on a daily basis shouldn't be terribly difficult… especially when one considers that 90% of my writing to this point has been during the work week over my lunch hour and that's more or less it.
Please feel free to keep tabs on my progress via the blog. I've embedded a widget which automatically updates my current wordcount when I update on the NaNo website… and wish me luck! I may be totally insane to try this, but I think it'll be fun.
