My niece Serenity cracked me up today. I was listening to my Zen Player - The Avett Brothers, I think - and Serenity, who at 1 1/2 has a natural curiosity for any noise, reached for one of my ear pieces with her little fingers. One Good Thing

Actor Johnny Galecki was on THE VIEW today. I remember him from ROSEANNE and THE OPPOSITE OF SEX, but he's got a massive hit nowadays with THE BIG BANG THEORY. He addressed the rumors circulating for years that he was gay (he's straight, btw), and the reason why he had never addressed them before: "Why defend yourself against something that's not offensive?"

Good for him! I've always hated it when straight guys claim to be defending themselves against being called gay. Kudos to Mr. Galecki!

One Good Thing

On Sundays I allow myself to go nutty with the caloric intake...and today I have intaken quite a few calories. Believe me, I earn it. The rest of the week (usually) I push myself very hard. I need to start my week with a few thousand extra calories to make it to the end. This time next Sunday I shall be readying myself to say farewell to what is, in my opinion (whose else would it be), the greatest television series ever, LOST. Never has a TV series grabbed me in its web and not loosened its grip even a little. I mean, I loved TWIN PEAKS and NORTHERN EXPOSURE. And I adored SIX FEET UNDER. My publisher for THE REST IS ILLUSION, Young Offenders, sent me a beautiful paper weight with the cover image emblazoned thereon. It's a clear glass that gives the image a unique and appropriate otherworldly quality. Sent in a cloth-covered blue box, it's one of the classiest gifts I've ever received. Thanks Pat!
