So, the silence means I’m busy, right?
I know, despite good intentions to the otherwise, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’m not going to linger here tonight, either.
The short version: we weathered hurricane Sandy just fine here, being on the outskirts of the storm and missing any major damage. My heart goes out to the people who weren’t so lucky. I can’t imagine the devastation and destruction this hurricane wreaked on people’s lives–I can only hope that those affected can find the means and the will to stand up from the rui...

The Evolution of Halloween
Welcome to my Howloween Blog Hop post! Anyone leaving a comment here will be in the running to win a signed, print copy of Going For Gold, the M/M Olympic themed anthology from MLR Press, including my sport horse novella, Lightning in a Bottle (if you live in the continental US) or the reader’s choice from my backlist in e-book form (if you live outside the US). Comments for the contest will be considered up until Nov 1, then a winner will be selected randomly from among the commenters.
When I...

My last political statement of the campaign…
Because you’re all tired of it, right? The hype, the rhetoric, the ‘distortion of the truth’ (heck, they can’t even come right out and say the word “lies”).
Everyone has pretty much made up their minds anyway. The level of frustration in this nation is high–believe me, I sympathize. Here I sit on a glorious autumn morning, waiting to meet a client instead of going out and doing the things I enjoy on my one day off. I’m not out walking the dog among the fall foliage when it is at the height of...

Deal Breakers in Romance Stories: What are yours?
A few weeks ago, I started a conversation on my live journal account regarding pet peeves in your reading, and what constitutes a deal breaking for you as a reader when it comes to romance stories?
The conversation proved so interesting, that I decided to hold an informal poll. At the time, I had no idea how to post a poll on my website so I wrote up about 25 questions and inviting people to answer them.
It’s taken me longer than I like to write up the answers and post them here, but life has b...

How to deal with internet bullies…
This is a post on bullying. It wasn’t intentional to post it on National Coming Out Day, but it is fitting, isn’t it?
The best quote I have for National Coming Out Day comes from a good friend of mine, who tweeted this morning: The only things you need to say when your child comes out to you: “I’m glad you chose to tell me.” “I love you.”
As she pointed out to her fellow parents, Coming Out Day is not about you, but them. About your child or loved one feeling comfortable and safe enough to tell...

Cooper West: Fall Changes
Cooper West, author of Dawn in the Orchard and Mixed Signals, among others, is my special guest blogger today! She’s written on one of my favorite subjects: autumn and the changes that it brings. I know many people aren’t fond of the season, but for me, it is personally my favorite time of year!
Do make Cooper welcome today, and share with us all what this time of year means for you!

This is not actually a post about Halloween. I love Halloween, it’s probably my favor...

Coming Soon from Sarah Madison…
Today is rainy and cold, as much of the US is experiencing a cold snap for the first time this fall. My thoughts turn to autumn and how this is my favorite time of the year. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) I’ve been much busier than usual, which has really cut into my writing time. I have a little unexpected time off these next few days and I plan to spend it working on Hold the Reins, the expanded version of my novella Lightning in a Bottle, which is part of t...

Crying for the Moon is 1st Runner Up in the Golden Rose Awards!
I'm tickled to death here--one of the judges stated that "Crying for the Moon is a wonderful paranormal story. Author Sarah
Madison has managed to refresh the vampire/werewolves stories that are
the current fad! Well done! I look forward to more from this author."
*grins*
I just so happen to have a short scene between the main characters Alex and Tate posted today on the KMN Books site as part of their month long celebration of Halloween. Drop by, answer my question posted there, and get in the running to win an autographed print version of Going for Gold (the M/M Olympic themed anthology from MLR Press) or reader's choice from my backlist.
Crying for the Moon 1st Runner Up in the 2011 Golden Rose Awards for Best Paranormal Story!
I just found out that Crying for the Moon was selected as 1st runner up in the 2011 Golden Rose Awards (held by Love Romances and More) in the category of best Paranormal story! I can’t tell you how delighted I am–unlike some of the awards contests out there, this one is determined by a panel of judges, as opposed to popular vote. To come in as 1st runner up is a great honor!
