Harl devotes this lecture to one of the most skilled military leaders of all time Attila (434-453 AD). At the time of his death, Attila the Hun controlled a tribal empire consisting of Huns, Ostrogoths, Alans and Bulgars. Harl credits his large diverse empire for the linguistic shift on the steppes from Persian to Turkic languages. For many historians, the latter signals the start of the Middle Ages.
Like many prior nomadic chieftains, Attila maintained control of his federation via the loot he pilfered (which he used to pay vassal chieftains) from the Balkan provinces of the Eastern Roman Empire. In addition to gold and luxuries, he also captured Roman engineers to build bath houses and build military technology to overwhelm Roman defenses.
Initially Attila’s main objective was to break down the Danube defenses of the Western Roman Empire, allowing him easy access to the Germanic provinces. In 447 AD, Rome signed a treaty with Attila that effectively stopped his military raids on Gaul. In addition to paying him 2,100 pounds of gold, Rome promised to demilitarize a 200-mile area to the south and west of the Danube (effectively allowing Hun raiders free access to the former Roman provinces).
The same year, Attila virtually destroyed Constantinople’s Theodosian walls (see How the Rise of the Huns Transformed Europe. Over the next year, Theodosius II put the entire population to work restoring the walls to protect against Hun raids.
In the spring of 450 AD, the half-sister of Roman emperor Valentinian III sent Attila a ring begging him to rescue her from an unpleasant arranged marriage. Taking this as a marriage proposal, Attila accepted, requesting Gaul and Spain as her dowry. When Valentinian declined, Attila declared war on Rome. Assembling assembling an infantry of 100,000 mounted warriors and infantry, sacked 10 major cities of Gaul.* Enlisting assistance from the Visigoths, Franks and lesser nomadic tribes, Valentinian’s generals confronted Attila at the Marne River in the 451 AD Battle of the Catalonia Plains. It ended in a stalemate and Attila withdrew to the Danube.
When Attila invaded Northern Italy a year later, Pope Leo I met him at the Po River and persuaded him to withdraw.
A short time later, Attila died in a drunken stupor. Suspected of poisoning him, his wife was put to death. She emerges as the heroine Gudrun** in Norse mythology.
*Paris was one of the few cities that didn’t fall.
**In Norse mythology, Gudrun was the wife of the great hero Sigurd. After Sigurd’s death, she became the wife of Atli, king of the Huns.

Edward Jenner: Supposed “Father of Immunology,” Complete Huckster and Fraud Who Never Passed a Medical Examination in his Life

For several centuries, smallpox was a major problem. Then, in the late 1800s, doctors and scientists began more in-depth research regarding disinfection practices and steam sterilization. Revolutionary surgical instruments (metal and non-metal) were made with smooth surfaces and from materials that could withstand high-heat sterilization. Then, in the 1900s, doctors and scientists began using irradiation, high pressure, ultraviolet light and ethylene oxide to make surgeries much safer and much more often successful.
Plus, environmental health and safety vastly improved in the mid-1900s, including infectious waste management, cleaning services, respiratory protection and air and water handling (including plumbing). There was no longer much need for “miracle vaccines” to “save humanity” from infectious diseases, including measles and smallpox.
FAKE “Father of Immunology” used as catapult for new vaccine religionThe ever-corrupt American Medical Association (AMA) and the fraudulent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) wanted to create a different “image” for modern medicine, a global campaign that would profit in the millions (and billions) for decades to come. One way to accomplish this would be to pretend that Edward Jenner was the “Father of Immunology,” and create a fake medical hero who would be used as a catapult for the new vaccine religion. All complications of vaccination would be blamed on infectious diseases they were supposed to prevent and/or cure.
So history was altered, and in a big way. It was rewritten and reconstructed to fit a narrative to push vaccines. Edward Jenner (1749 – 1823) was to be lauded as a medical savior for sparing millions of people from infectious disease, but his crude forms of injection caused horrific problems in and of themselves. Jenner pretended to be a “surgeon” in Berkeley, yet he never even became a doctor.
In fact, Edward Jenner never even passed a medical exam in his whole life. Since medical examinations were not compulsory, Jenner simply hung a sign over his office that said “Surgeon, Apothecary.” He later literally purchased “medical degrees” that he never earned. This is the fraudster and huckster that the entire multi-billion dollar vaccine industrial complex is built upon.
Jenner, the so-called “Father of Immunology,” saw his son die at 21 after injecting him with several “vaccines,” including cowpox jabIn the late 1700s, Edward Jenner injected his first-born son with a slew of so-called “vaccines” only to watch him die at the ripe age of 21 from TB. Jenner avoided injecting his other son with anything after that, and became an anti-vaxxer when it came to his own family using his faked inventions. Jenner stole the “vaccine formulas” from dairy maids anyway, and never originated any form of medicine himself.
And so the whole faked story of the holy grail of medicine being vaccines was conjured up with an unscientific superstition backed by ZERO scientific evidence and propagated as “safe and effective” by fraudulent government agencies.
Recorded vaccine failure: Smallpox cases for people who already received the smallpox vaccine in the 1900s continued to be recordedSmallpox vaccines were causing more damage than good when they were “invented,” but the carnage was covered up well, just like the carnage from COVID-19 vaccines right now. Hong Kong government pays out $255K for a single vaccine-related death

The government of Hong Kong paid out a substantial amount of compensation following a death related to the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine.
Hong Kong’s Food and Health Bureau recently approved a payout of HK$2 million ($255,000) for a vaccine-related death case. The amount formed part of a HK$1 billion ($127.5 million) indemnity fund established to compensate individuals who suffer from adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination.
According to the Hong Kong Free Press, the HK$2 million ($255,000) payout was not the only amount shelled out to compensate victims of vaccine damage. As of April 23, it had already paid out a total of HK$31.5 million ($4.02 million) for 241 cases of vaccine injury.
The HK$2 million ($255,000) payout applies if the deceased was aged 40 and older. Individuals aged younger than 40 could receive a bigger payout of HK$2.5 million ($318,750).
An official vaccine safety monitoring report published in December 2021 elaborated on the vaccine case. It involved a 66-year-old woman who passed away 16 days after receiving her first doses of the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine in July of that year.
A resulting autopsy found that she died of myocarditis or heart muscle inflammation. The city-state’s Expert Committee on Clinical Events Assessment Following COVID-19 Immunization subsequently concluded that there was an “intermediate” relationship between the COVID-19 vaccine and her death. Following this finding, the Hong Kong government approved the payout.
Dr. Ivan Hung Fan-ngai, the expert committee’s co-convener, explained in an interview that the woman had no long-term illness. He added that her autopsy report indicated the presence of the parvovirus B19 pathogen in her body – which can cause myocarditis – for a period of time. Nevertheless, Hung remarked that the relationship between the condition and vaccination cannot be completely ruled out in the woman’s case.
The Epoch Times reported that as of May 15, about 17 million vaccine doses were administered in Hong Kong. The special administrative region’s health department received 7,484 reports of post-vaccination events, with 103 deaths occurring within two weeks after COVID-19 vaccination. COVID vaccines from Sinovac wreak havoc in Hong KongAside from the vaccine death that called for a substantial payout, Hong Kong’s vaccination drive led to several fatalities and injuries. Earlier instances of vaccine damage were caused by the Sinovac Biotech COVID-19 vaccine, which is manufactured in mainland China.
Three Hong Kongers died within a span of several days after being injected with the Sinovac shot.
The first victim was a 63-year-old man who died on Feb. 28, 2021, two days after getting vaccinated. He was followed by a 55-year-old woman who died on March 6, four days after her vaccination. Both of them had underlying health conditions.
The third casualty was a 71-year-old man who died on March 8, four days after getting the Sinovac shot. Unlike the two earlier Hong Kong residents, the man was reportedly in good health before vaccination and had no underlying conditions.
Later in March 2021, a healthy 26-year-old man experienced swelling and facial paralysis hours after getting injected with the Sinovac vaccine. The man named Lam, who is a construction worker in the city-state, was perfectly healthy before his vaccination.
Lam told local media outlet Oriental Daily that his right eye was swollen and “looked like it had been punched by somebody.” He added that he also experienced dizziness, red ears and chest pains. Additional footage revealed the extent of Lam’s vaccine injury – he was unable to close his eyes, his mouth was tilted to the left and his face was deformed.
“I could feel the [first aid] man patting me, and could hear him calling me – but I couldn’t respond,” Lam said. He was then sent to an emergency room for treatment, where he subsequently regained consciousness.
Hung said on March 24, 2021 at least nine male Hong Kong residents suffered facial paralysis after their first COVID-19 vaccine dose, including the construction worker.

Donovan Correctional facility in San Diego County, and, after a relatively lengthy conversation, believed that Sirhan did not kill his father and that a second gunman was involved.
Kennedy Jr.’s view is shared by his sister, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, and by Paul Schrade, regional director of the United Auto Workers (UAW) and one of Bobby’s closest advisers, who was shot the night that he was killed.
In 2016, Schrade testified in support of Sirhan’s parole, stating his belief that a second shooter killed Kennedy and that Sirhan was intended to be a distraction from the real gunman by an unknown conspiracy.
Kennedy Jr. has pointed out that Sirhan’s appointed lawyer at his original trial, Grant Cooper, was Johnny Rosselli’s personal lawyer. “Roselli,” he said, “was the mobster who ran the assassination program for the CIA against Castro. Cooper pressured Sirhan to plead guilty so that there was no trial.”
Kennedy believes the real assassin was Thane Eugene Cesar, an employee of Lockheed’s Burbank facility—which manufactured the CIA produced U-2 spy plane—and previously Hughes Aircraft who was moonlighting as a security guard for Ace Security Services.

“Cesar sold his .22 to a co-worker [Yoder] weeks after the assassination, warning him that it had been used in a crime. Cesar lied to police claiming that he’d disposed of the gun months before the assassination.”
Kennedy Jr. concluded, “Police have never seriously investigated Cesar’s role in my father’s killing,” adding that the LAPD unit which investigated his dad’s assassination was “run by active CIA operatives” who “destroyed thousands of pieces of evidence.”[12]

A Lie Too Big to FailThe case against Sirhan being the lone gunman can be summarized in six key points:
1. More Bullets Were Fired Than Were in Sirhan’s GunSirhan’s gun had eight bullets in it. According to officials, three of Sirhan’s bullets hit Kennedy (a fourth went through his coat), and five bullets struck the other victims.

County Coroner Thomas Noguchi’s report—which mysteriously went missing from the LAPD’s final report—found that Kennedy had been hit by three bullets from the rear, including one in his head behind his right ear. This conclusion rules out Sirhan who was identified by all witnesses as having shot at Kennedy from the front.

Kennedy’s Killer Shot Him from Close Range—Sirhan Was Too Far AwayNoguchi, Wolfer and Pasadena criminalist William Harper, drawing on forensic and eyewitness evidence, all concluded that the shots which killed Kennedy came from close range—a point of near direct contact.[16] Sirhan never got anywhere near that close—he was at least three feet away.[17]
4. Two Guns and Two ShootersSirhan’s gun was never matched to the bullets that killed Kennedy. William Harper, who survived an assassination attempt on the eve of his scheduled testimony before a grand jury investigating the handling of firearms evidence, concluded that two .22 caliber guns were involved in the assassination.[18]

5. Karl UeckerOne of the most important witnesses was, Karl Uecker, a maitre d’ at the Ambassador Hotel, who was the first one to grab Sirhan during the shooting in an attempt to subdue him. He told filmmaker Ted Charach that Sirhan could not have been the killer. He stated:
“Sirhan at no time was firing from behind Senator Robert Kennedy. . .”

6. Kennedy Was Killed from an Elevated PositionNot only was Kennedy shot from the back, but witnesses saw someone shooting at him from an elevated position twelve to sixteen inches above Kennedy’s head, with knee or body on a steam table.
This could not have been Sirhan who was identified by four credible witnesses, including Uecker, as shooting at Kennedy from the floor on a slightly upward trajectory, which made sense since Sirhan was four inches shorter than Kennedy.[25]

Real Life Manchurian Candidate?In 2010, attorneys acting for Sirhan filed a motion in the United States District Court for the Central District of California which argued that he was “an involuntary participant” in the shooting in the Ambassador Hotel pantry because he had been “subjected to extensive and sophisticated hypno-programming and mind control”—which had turned him into a robot assassin—a real-life “Manchurian Candidate.”

When one talks about the “global elite”, one usually refers to a small group of wealthy and powerful individuals who operate beyond national borders. Through various organizations, these non-elected individuals gather in semi-secrecy to decide policies they want to see applied on a global level.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is smack dab in the middle of it all. Indeed, through its annual Davos meetings, the WEF attempts to legitimize and normalize its influence on the world’s democratic nations by having a panel of world leaders attending and speaking at the event.

A simple look at the list of attendees at these meetings reveals the organization’s incredible reach and influence. The biggest names in media, politics, business, science, technology, and finance are represented at the WEF.
According to mass media, the Davos meetings gather people to discuss issues such as “inequality, climate change, and international cooperation”. This simplistic description appears to be custom-made to cause the average citizen to yawn in boredom. But topics at the WEF go much further than “inequality”.
Throughout the years, people at the WEF have said some highly disturbing things, none of which garnered proper media attention. In fact, when one pieces together the topics championed by the WEF, an overarching theme emerges: The total control of humanity using media, science, and technology while reshaping democracies to form a global government.

#10 Penetrating Governments
The least one can say is that Klaus Schwab, the founder and the head of the WEF is not a fan of democracy. In fact, he perceives it as an obstacle to a fully globalized world.
In the 2010 WEF report titled “Global Redesign”, Schwab postulates that a globalized world is best managed by a “self-selected coalition of multinational corporations, governments (including through the UN system), and select civil society organizations (CSOs)”. This is the exact opposite of a democracy.
He argued that governments are no longer “the overwhelmingly dominant actors on the world stage” and that “the time has come for a new stakeholder paradigm of international governance”. For this reason, the Transnational Institute (TNI) described the WEF as “a silent global coup d’état” to capture governance.

In 2020 and 2021, cities around the world were subjected to massive and drastic lockdowns, causing job losses, suicides, drug overdoses, isolation, mental health issues, domestic abuse, bankruptcies, and homelessness. During this horrific period, children could not attend school for months and were essentially barred from interacting with other children. A slew of small and medium businesses was destroyed while large corporations strived.
Despite all of this, the WEF could not hide its love of drastic, life-destroying lockdowns. In fact, it released a video surrealistically called “Lockdowns are quietly improving cities around the world”. Here’s this piece of complete insanity.

Judging by comments on YouTube and social media, people absolutely hate videos created by the WEF. But they keep coming. Because they don’t care what you think. They just want to plant their seed of insanity into your mind. In a video titled “How our lives could soon look” (read my full article about it here), the WEF invites viewers to “take a peek at the future”. And it is BLEAK. It is all about making COVID life permanent.

It is not only an opportunity to reshape our personal existence but to restructure the entire world structure according to its principles. The WEF calls it “the Great Reset”. The panel that advises the CDC recommended that shots be given to lab workers and health care workers that may be exposed to the virus in their work. Ten cases of the virus have been detected in the US so far, with nine of them confirmed by the CDC that is using flawed PCR tests that are not intended to diagnose disease.
Monkeypox is said to be transmissible through close skin contact with someone who has a active rash or through respiratory droplets with someone who has lesions in their mouth and are around another person for an extended period of time. Nine of the ten cases reported were men who have sex with men as the vast majority of infections are in gay and bisexual men.
The JYNNEOS vaccine in question is tailored to both smallpox and monkeypox – just as many other smallpox drugs are also believed to be effective against the rare virus.
It comes as the U.S. records its tenth presumptive case of the virus, with a man in Colorado having a suspected infection after a recent trip to Canada, state officials announced Thursday night.
Colorado today became the eighth state to report a case of monkeypox, as the tally of confirmed and suspected infections rises to double-digits.
‘Certain laboratorians and health care personnel can be exposed to orthopoxviruses through occupational activities,’ ACIP wrote in its report.
The panel notes that orthopoxvirus vaccines, like JYNNEOS, were regularly distributed to children in the U.S. to combat smallpox in the past.
Smallpox, a highly devastating, deadly, virus, was eradicated in 1980, though, and use of the vaccines has since been dropped from mandatory to scarce.
Officials still recommend that some parts of the population do continue to receive the shots, though, including people who may be exposed to these viruses at work.
America has a stockpile of over 1,000 doses of the two-dose vaccine in place for a situation like this.

A cull could be ordered for hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs if they are unable to be isolated, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) admitted.

The ECDC said it is ‘theoretically possible’ that people in Europe could pass on monkeypox to their domestic pets, which could then act as a reservoir and transmit it back to humans.
The country also has 100 million doses of ACAM2000, another pox vaccine, in its stockpile, though that jab has been replaced by JYNNEOS because of its increased risk of negative side-effects.
On Monday, the CDC reported that the country had planned to distribute the shots to the most high-risk group.
Rollout of the vaccines to the high risk groups is expected to begin soon.
The recommendation comes as the U.S. monkeypox tally to reaches ten, with nine cases having been confirmed by the CDC on Thursday.
Colorado recorded the most recent suspected case in a ‘young’, gay or bisexual, man who had recently traveled to Canada.
On Thursday, the CDC confirmed nine positive cases of the virus, with the most recent being a woman in Northern Virginia who has recently traveled to an African country where the virus is common.
The vast majority of infections are in gay and bisexual men, and most are thought to be linked to international travel.
Officials have NOT reported any confirmed cases of human-to-human transmission of the virus in the U.S.

This lecture concerns the vital role of the steppes nomads (especially the Huns, who played a pivotal role in the collapse of the Roman Empire) in Europe’s transition from “antiquity” to the Middle Ages.
According to Harl, the Huns were first prominent on the Pontic-Caspian Steppes, the heartland of their empire, around 370 – 375 AD.[1]
In 376 AD the Huns overwhelmingly defeated the Goths (who, along with the Sarmatians,[2} enjoyed a 150-year alliance with Rome [3]). With Rome’s permission approximately 100,000 Goths crossed the Danube to resettle in the Roman province of Gaul.
In 410 AD, the Goths, under increasing pressure in Gaul from the Huns, sacked Rome for the first time. As part of the peace settlement, the Romans allowed the Goths to form an independent kingdom in southern Gaul.
Under Attila (434-453 AD), the Huns formed a Hun-ruled confederation of Hun, Germanic, Iranian, Alan (an offshoot of the Sarmatians) and proto-Turkish tribes. As well as crossing the Caucasus to launch raids in Mesopotamia and the Sassanid Persian Empire, the Huns gradually migrated west to the Danube and the Hungarian plains. Assimilating the Alan nomads who lived there, they launched a series of raids against the Eastern Roman Empire.[4] In response to these raids, Eastern Roman Emperor Theodosius II built a massive wall between 408 – 450 AD along the four mile land border of Constantinople.
Although the Hun continued to ravage the eastern provinces of the Eastern Empire, Constantinople (and eastern Asia) remained safe from a future nomad invasions.
[1] According to Harl, the Huns may have been an offshoot of the Xiongu nomads north of China. The Hans adopted the Chinese “Five Baits” system of diplomacy (see How Steppes Nomads Influenced Eartly Chinese Civilization). The Huns, who spoke a Proto-Turkic language, were the first Turkish speakers in Europe.

[3] After the emperor Constantine (306-337 AD) decisively defeated the Goths, they were required to send duty to Rome as well as supplying conscripts to support the Roman military in their war with Persia.
[4] In 330 AD, Constantine split Rome into an Eastern and Western Empire. The eastern Roman court fell under the control of eastern warlords. In the western empire, Roman troops consisted mainly of nomad mercenaries. Prior to its collapse in 476 AD, the Western Roman Empire relied mainly on the Huns to keep its Germanic allies in line.

1,287,595 Injuries Reported After COVID Shots, Vaccine Injury Compensation Programs ‘Overwhelmed’
VAERS data released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show 1,287,595 reports of adverse events from all age groups following COVID-19 vaccines, including 28,532 deaths and 235,041 serious injuries between Dec. 14, 2020, and May 27, 2022.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today released new data showing a total of 1,287,595 reports of adverse events following COVID-19 vaccines were submitted between Dec. 14, 2020, and May 27, 2022, to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). That’s an increase of 9,615 adverse events over the previous week.VAERS is the primary government-funded system for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the U.S.
The data included a total of 28,532 reports of deaths — an increase of 220 over the previous week — and 235,041 serious injuries, including deaths, during the same time period — up 2,347compared with the previous week.
Excluding “foreign reports” to VAERS, 825,454 adverse events, including 13,150 deaths and 83,454 serious injuries, were reported in the U.S. between Dec. 14, 2020, and May 27, 2022.
Foreign reports are reports foreign subsidiaries send to U.S. vaccine manufacturers. Under U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, if a manufacturer is notified of a foreign case report that describes an event that is both serious and does not appear on the product’s labeling, the manufacturer is required to submit the report to VAERS.
Of the 13,150 U.S. deaths reported as of May 27, 16% occurred within 24 hours of vaccination, 20% occurred within 48 hours of vaccination and 59% occurred in people who experienced an onset of symptoms within 48 hours of being vaccinated.

Vaccine injury compensation programs overwhelmed by thousands of reports
Federal programs compensating people who suffered injuries from vaccines or COVID-19 pandemic treatment are facing so many claims that thousands of people may not receive payment for their injuries for a long time, Politico reported.
The first program, the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP), has too little staff to handle the number of reported injuries resulting from pediatric vaccines such as polio and MMR, leaving thousands of patients waiting years for their cases to be heard.
The second program, the Countermeasure Injuries Compensation Program (CICP), designed to compensate people for injuries caused by COVID-19 vaccines and countermeasures, has seen unsustainable growth.
Between 2010 and 2020, the CICP received only 500 complaints. Since the start of the pandemic, it has received more than 8,000 complaints — 5,000 of which are related to COVID-19 vaccines.
To date, the CICP has paid zero claims, although it did approve one in December 2021.
Should COVID-19 vaccines become routine, any injuries would be handled by the already overwhelmed VICP. There are fears the public will mistake the situation for “too many injuries flooding the program,” which will lead to vaccine hesitancy.

India Buying Up Cheap Sanctioned Russian Oil and Selling it to US and EU at Huge Profits

India is buying up cheap sanctioned Russian oil, refining it, then selling it to the US and EU for huge profits, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.The US has reluctantly given India permission to buy Russian oil because India has threatened to ditch their alliance with America and ally with China if the US dares to sanction them.
While Americans and Europeans are being forced to pay record prices for gas as “the cost of standing up for freedom,” the free nation of India is buying oil from Russia for a whopping $35 off a barrel and selling it back to us in a hilarious arbitrage scheme.

Europe just targeted Russian crude with its toughest sanctions yet, but shippers and refiners are getting the oil to market by obscuring its origins. Some fuels believed to be partially made from Russian crude landed in New York and New Jersey last month.
The cargoes were brought through the Suez Canal and across the Atlantic from Indian refineries, which have been big buyers of Russian oil, according to shipping records, Refinitiv data and analysis by Helsinki-based think tank Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air.
[…] [India’s] imports have skyrocketed to 800,000 barrels a day since the war began, compared with 30,000 barrels a day previously, according to commodity-markets data company Kpler.
[…] A refinery owned by Indian energy giant Reliance Industries Ltd. bought seven times more Russian crude in May, compared with prewar levels, making up a fifth of its total intake, according to Kpler.
Reliance chartered an oil tanker to carry a cargo of alkylate, a gasoline component, departing from the nearby Sikka port on April 21 without a planned destination. Three days later, it updated its records with a U.S. port and sailed over, discharging its cargo on May 22 in New York.
“What likely happened was Reliance took on a discounted cargo of Russian crude, refined it and then sold the product on the short-term market where it found a U.S. buyer,” said Lauri Myllyvirta, lead analyst at the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air. […]
Reliance didn’t respond to a request for comment. Its joint chief financial officer, Srikanth Venkatachari, said in a May 6 briefing that the company has minimized feedstock cost by sourcing “arbitrage barrels.”
Indian refined oil-product exports, beefed up by cheap Russian supplies, have grown sharply since the beginning of the war. Daily shipments to Europe have risen by a third and by 43% to the U.S. on a quarterly basis.

Cyber Agency: Dominion Voting Machines In 16 States Vulnerable To Hacks

Dominion Voting Systems machines used in at least 16 states have software weaknesses that make them vulnerable to hacking, the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) has warned election officials.
According to AP, which obtained the CISA advisory ahead of an anticipated Friday release, the agency said it has no evidence these vulnerabilities have actually been exploited, but is urging states to implement measures to prevent and detect hacking.
“One of the most serious vulnerabilities could allow malicious code to be spread from the election management system to machines throughout a jurisdiction…The vulnerability could be exploited by someone with physical access or by someone who is able to remotely infect other systems that are connected to the internet if election workers then use USB sticks to bring data from an infected system into the election management system,” AP reports.
The 16 states weren’t identified. According to the company’s website, Dominion products are used in 28 states and nine of the 20 largest counties in the country.
The CISA advisory was prompted by a 25,000-word report by J. Alex Halderman, a University of Michigan computer scientist. He prepared the report as an expert witness in a federal lawsuit filed by voting integrity activists who want Georgia’s machines replaced with paper ballots. The suit was filed in 2017 and is unrelated to any allegation of a specific hack.
Election-hackers could exploit other weaknesses to forge cards technicians use to access—and change—the machines’ software. “Attackers could then mark ballots inconsistently with voters’ intent, alter recorded votes or even identify voters’ secret ballots,” Halderman told AP.
State and federal election officials maintain they have no evidence that Dominion equipment was tampered with to change 2020 election tallies. Dominion is suing Fox News, Rudy Giuliani and others for defamation, over their suggestions the company’s voting machines enabled fraud in that election.
CISA is recommending that, in jurisdictions where the Dominion voting machines are used, officials should implement safeguards such as testing of machines before and after elections, post-election audits, and asking voters to confirm the readable portion of machine-generated paper ballots.
However, even according to the CISA advisory, voter confirmation of the human-readable, computer-generated paper ballot can be skirted by hackers. Automated counting of ballots is done by reading a QR code printed on them, and CISA warned that some of the software vulnerabilities could allow hackers to generate a code that’s “inconsistent with the human-readable portion of the paper ballot.”
Halderman’s report is being kept under seal; U.S. District Judge Amy Totenberg says she’s wary the report, if made public, would serve as a user’s manual for bad actors. Halderman’s report has been designated “attorneys’ eyes only,” which means even the parties to the suit aren’t allowed to read it.
