More Mischief
For our last night of mischief before mama comes home, Mason and I splurged. We bought THREE Star Wars novels at HalfPrice Books. Insanity!
We also stopped off at Mirriam Park Library because the #15 HIKARU NO GO that I'd requested came in. Mason checked out the Goosebumps, but was underwhelmed. We did end up checking one of them out to read together called "One Night in Horrorland!"
I also had a funny experience writing my young adult novel yesterday, which I report on over at Wyrdsmiths....

Ignoring my Deadline, That's What!
23 days to go! So, what am I doing right now? Blogging, of course.
Actually, I had a good writing day yesterday and today is shaping up to be another one, so fingers crossed! I have been skipping my work out at the gym to get an early start, though I'm thinking that if I get stuff done early today, I may go in for a bit in the afternoon. If nothing else to get my legs moving a bit on the stationary bike.

Use Your Eyes, People!
Oh, and a quick addendum: I was at my coffee shop (Amore Coffee) on Friday and a woman who is also a regular there came up to chat with me. She's a straight woman of a certain age, with short hair (dyed bright burgandy, like mine currently is), and a plus sized woman of substance. She tells me, no kidding, that she's been mistaken for me. Several people chatted with her and then asked, "Where's your little boy?" and she realized they must be thinking of me because her "little" boy is in h...

Quick Update: Yes, Still Living (Barely)
As you know, Bob, I have a deadline kicking my butt. What you may not know is that yesterday (and Sunday), I was down for the count thanks to a wicked flu. I was smart this time, I think. Instead of resisting, I gave in to my impluse to sleep it off. I slept nearly all of Sunday when I first felt it coming on. Then on Monday, Shawn left for Washington, D.C. on business and I stayed upright long enough to get Mason ready for school, fed him and drop him off. Then I slept. I slept and sl...

Cold, Gray Day
It's cold and gray here in Saint Paul and I'm feeling far too exhausted from my work out to feel like doing anything other than staring at the computer screen while my brain goes, "zzzzzzzzzzzzz." Alas, I have about 30,000 words to write in 29 days. Actually, best if I got that done sooner since I need to find a Wyrdsmith or two to read it and critique it before I send it off to my publisher.
Bleah.
I think I shall fuel up with tea and a sandwich.

(*&&^*$@ Dial-up!
Today started out okay, but it's quickly becoming swear worthy. I hate dial-up. I wish we could afford decent internet connection. In one way, I keep the crappy connection because, well, it's better than nothing (mostly, although I'm not sure it's doing anything good for my blood presure,) BUT it keeps me from being distracted by the shiney that is the interwebs.

Not as Funny as in Captain Underpants...
Mason woke up this morning and instantly had diarrhea. Two minutes later: barf. A half hour later, when it was still going on, I got on-line and called him in sick via an e-mail to his teacher. Meanwhile, Shawn came down with a headache. She e-mailed in sick to work as well. I ended up having to e-mail Eleanor to cancel our writing date, which is pretty much the same as calling in sick, too.

Muscles Sore
After a long hiatus from the gym, I went back yesterday. I wasn't feeling it yesterday, but today? Oy.
Because we're expecting to have homework now that Mason is in first grade, I told Mason that on the days he didn't have homework, we could go to the library. He's taken me up on it already. We went on Tuesday and yesterday, although yesterday we decided to try a new library to see if they might have a better selection of Goosebumps and/or Captain Underpants. Happy Endings and Personal Taste
The day before we left for LaCrosse, our friends the Jacksons in Colorado sent us a surprise package of books. There was much awesome to be found, including a Shonen Jump magazine that included a reprint of the first HIRAKU NO GO, as well as collected volumes 2 and 5. I read the reprint and 2 right away, and packed volume 5 for the road. They also sent along some DRAGONBALL Z or maybe Yu Gi Oh! and several other manga titles, which I perused but ultimately did not get super-excited over.
