Authors/Readers: Join me for Operation Get Up and Move!

Happy Sunday, peeps!

Hope you're all enjoying a nice weekend.

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook then there's a very good chance you've seen me tweet or post about my P90X workouts at least once over the past three months.

If not, here's the skinny:  I've been thin my entire life, but mushy, soft and completely out of shape cardio and strength wise. Heart disease runs rampant in my family as well as issues with blood pressure, anxiety etc.

I'm a couch potato. Scratch that. I was a couch potato.

As an author I spend a good portion of each morning on my butt in my chair writing. I'm not fond of sweating ( I'm a girlie girl) and I like my Diet Coke.

Three months ago I got a wild hair up my ass about exercising. Not sure what the catalyst was. I just finally decided I was unhappy getting winded as I climbed my stairs, and I wanted to do something that would relieve my daily battle against anxiety.

Insert P90X.

With three daughters who cheer, and various other expenses, my hubby and I don't have the money to purchase a gym membership. The P90X program was perfect because I could work out at home, not spend a ton of money and no one would have to see me make a fool of myself.

Oh, let me tell you...in the beginning...I was pathetic. In fact, I think I threw my body into shock the first day. But, after about a week, it wasn't so bad, and I eventually formed a habit I refuse to break.

I've lost a few pounds, several inches, and my anxiety has all but disappeared! Woot! I'm starting up a new round on September 5th and my challenge is this: get up off the couch and move with me! I don't care what you do.

Walk.

Run (not my personal fav, but it's great)

Do your own workout... doesn't matter what it is, just move.

I"m starting up a new 90 day regimen on September 6th and encourage you to join me! I created a workout blog at the beginning of my journey and have been posting there regularly. Join me! Chat with me about what you're doing. We're coming into the holiday season where delicious foods and parties are a plenty. Let's keep each other motivated and on track! Are you with me?

The link to my workout blog is posted on the right hand side of this blog near the top. I've also created a Facebook group for those who'd like to post and chat more frequently about their progress/journey/struggles etc. Message me if you'd like to join. Hope to see you there!!!!

Summer Scorcher Blog Tour week 4- Things that make you go "Ooooh!"

My erotic suspense, Obsessed, released March 29th of this year with Loose Id. It's a fast-pacedstory filled with romance, suspense and a heavy dose of shemxin' (hubba hubba!)It's by far the hottest story I've penned, and I'm absolutely in love with thehero and heroine, Nick and Halley. Because of the spicy nature of the story, Ithought it would be fun to talk about things that turn us on. Woohoo! You knowwhat I'm talking about. Those certain traits, qualities in a person that revyour engine and send your girlie bits a tingling…fans self…  And let's not forget two powerfulaphrodisiacs:  music and food. Bothare often used to set the mood in intimate situations.
Halley, the female lead in Obsessed has a thing for tattoos (tribal tattoos) if I want to bespecific. The moment she notices Nick's ink peeking out from beneath his shirt,it's all over for her. Yes, his muscular physique and bad-boy demeanor are whatinitially pulled her in, but it was the swirling ink decorating his torso andarm that sealed the deal.
I see Inked heroes more and more these days. What exactly isit about them that draws us in? For me, there's almost something taboo abouttattoos.  Growing up, I'd alwaysthought of them as "forbidden", much like the bad boys I'd admire from afar, but never dared to bring home. It's exactly that "off-limits" quality I lookfor in my heroes. I like a leading man who's a bit rough around the edges, whodoesn't conform. Nine times out of ten, my favorite hero has a past he's tryingto forget or an obstacle he's trying to overcome. He wears his ink like armor, and for me, there's nothing sexier. What about you? Do you like a hero withtattoos?
Leave a comment on this blog, as well as the other fiveblogs on the Scorcher Tour to be entered to win a free PDF copy of my eroticsuspense, Obsessed. The winner's namewill then be forwarded into a final drawing at the end of the tour for a chanceto win a $30 Amazon gift certificate.

(Book blurb) Thevictim of both a brutal attempted rape and now a serial stalking, Halley Davisis broken, and desperate to glue the shattered pieces of her life backtogether. Tormented by a psychopath and battling a heavy dose of anxiety, sexand dating are the last things on Halley's anxiety-ridden mind. That is, untilshe meets the man who rescued her from the hands of a would-be rapist. With abody made for sin, a wicked, sexy tattoo and an aura that screams "badass," herrescuer not only calms the storm of terror raging inside her mind, he ignites apassion within her she's never known before.
Tired of using meaningless sex todrown out the horrors of his past, Nick Ackart has sworn off women. In fact, ifwomen were classified as meat, his ass is Vegan. Despite his determination toremain unattached, Nick is unable to stay away from the emerald-eyed beauty herescued from a sadistic pervert. Immersed in a tangled web of sexual desire anddeep emotion he was certain was long dead, he vows to protect Halley from themonster hounding her, even though he stands to lose his heart in the process.

How about we heat things up a bit? Here's the excerpt frommy contemporary romance, AFTER MIDNIGHT:
"I'm not the type ofwoman men fall for."

"I've fallen for you."

Heat flooded hersystem. She forced herself to breathe, to keep her eyes locked with his. "Noyou haven't. You …"
He pushed off themantel and stepped in her direction. "I—what?"
"Never mind."
"Finish the sentence,Isabeau."
"I don't think so."
"Then let me." Heclosed the distance between them. "You were going to say I haven't fallen foryou, weren't you? You actually believe him? That you're nothing more to me thanconvenient?"
Her pulse throbbedthick and hard. Heat radiated off his body. The scent of him filled her head. She wanted, more than anything, to press herself against him and relive thepleasure of his mouth against hers. Instead, she lifted her chin.
"Maybe."
He leaned in close. Soclose his breath brushed across her lips. "You believe him, but not me?"
"You are here onlytemporarily."
"Yes."
"And I am just downthe street."
"I suppose."
She ran her tongueover her dry lips. "So the whole thing does seem rather—"
"Don't say it."
"—convenient."
Something dangerouscame and went in his eyes. "Now I'm getting angry."
His hands skimmed downher sides, slipped under her shirt and settled on her lace-covered bottom. Herbreath went uneven. Searing need swarmed her.
"You want something tobelieve, believe this." He pulled her into the solid ridge of his erection. Shelost her concentration. "There is nothing convenient about the way I feel aboutyou."
It doesn't appear that Noah sees Izzy the same way she seesherself does it?

Why Vampires Are Sexy with Arial Burnz- Part 4

Welcome to Part 4 of Arial Burnz's guest blog post on the Scorcher Blog Tour – Week 1! (If this is your first stop, you'll want to go back to Part 1
Thanks so much for having me on your blog, Lisa!!
Continuing with our topic Why Vampires Are Sexy: As mentioned before, most vampires in stories these days have heightened senses. This is what benefits the reader most, I think. The more of the five senses you bring into a story, the more the reader is brought into the experience. The feather-light touches of breath and lips against skin. The urgent pulses of panting and heartbeats caressing the ears. The anticipated taste of a kiss. The aroma of rose oil, musky sexuality and even the forbidden scent and taste of blood.
Which brings me to another allure of vampires…the forbidden. There is a dark side to most creatures of the night, which has the immediate label of "Bad Boy" or "Bad Girl" written all over it. There's something sexy about danger! Most vampires engage in the forbidden act of consuming our life's blood, or in some situations our souls. It's a deadly line they walk, associating with mortals and the source of their sustenance.
In this excerpt, Broderick and Davina share their first kiss, and Broderick has a difficult time controlling the Hunger in him, which wants to devour her as much as he does:
You'll have to go to the next blog to read that excerpt. I'm SUCH a tease! Before you do, let's check in and give a purpose to your post. Continuing to excite the six senses as it pertains to vampires…we'll explore the sense of sight in this post.
What do YOU find hot about what you SEE regarding vampires? Do signs of the supernatural excite you? Broderick has a silver core in the pupils of his eyes when the Hunger is aroused. Is a full, kissable mouth more titillating with a pair of fangs? Is it that "Bad Boy/Girl" aura about the vampire that is so exciting? Do tell!
HOW TO ENTERLeave a comment on this blog AND at the other five blogs on the Scorcher Tour to be entered into the drawing this week. Patricia Leever talks about her latest work, Cat O' Nine Tails

Before I begin I'd like to send out a big thanks to Miss Lisafor hosting this Sizzling Summer Author Extravaganza!
Hidey ho my sparkly little love monkeys, greetings and welcome! My name is Patricia Leever, new author with Omnific Publishing and I'm here totell you about my soon to be released historical romance novel, Cat O' NineTails!
If you enjoy fast paced tales with pirates, island hideaways, sword fights and scintillating romance, then Cat O' Nine Tails is the story foryou!
Cat O' Nine Tails stars Aeron Lynch, a tough as nails femalepirate and Orrin Walsh, a straight laced bounty hunter. Sparks fly between themwhen Orrin happens on her island hideaway and finds her bathing in a lagoon…
Takingin a deep breath, Orrin turned back to the lagoon only to find his beautifulwater goddess standing before him. Her eyes snapped in blue and green fury asher sword sat poised at his throat.
"Seesomething inviting do you?" the woman purred, crystal clear droplets of watershimmering along her naked flesh as she stood confidently before him. "Out,now."
Straighteningto his full height, Orrin moved from behind the cover of vines and low-lyingtree branches, his gaze traveling the entire length of her body.
Hereyes narrowed at him, and she pressed the tip of her blade to his throat afterone step.
"Closeyour eyes," she spat, "lest I slit your throat this instant." Glancing down, she evidently noticed his obvious arousal and slid her blade down his body tothe top of his trousers. "Or worse."
Clearinghis throat, Orrin closed his eyes and stepped out into the open.
Thewoman swiftly rid him of his sword. "Sit," she commanded, "and keep your eyesclosed, until I instruct you otherwise."
Sheplays at modesty when half the Queen's Navy claims to have borne witness to herwares. Orrin sat on the rockyground, scoffing aloud at the ridiculousness. He felt her hand grip his faceand the cold steel of what he imagined was a dagger against his cheek.
"Youwill not gaze upon my form as you see fit."

Author Sondrae Bennett talks about unique shifters

Have you ever played the game where you guess what type ofanimal your friends would be? For whatever reason, whenever my friends playedthe game, I always got chosen as something unintimidating, like Kuala orChipmunk. Not exactly a scary predator found in the average shifter story.
Truth is, most of us probably wouldn't fall under the wolf, lion, hyena categories. Which is why, in the world of my Alpine Woods Shiftersseries, the characters shift into a wide variety of animals, not just thetypical predator. The series focuses around the Callahan family, a family ofwolves, but all of them mate outside the pack (at least so far). In ArcticWinds, the heroine  is an arcticfox. But the really unique shifters in the world come out in the second book,Chasing Paradise, being released this Monday with Lyrical Press. Our story opens on an exclusive shifter only resort inCalifornia. We see everything from Cheetah shifters to horse shifters, and ourheroine's type of animal, otters. Yep, you read that right. My heroine is anotter shifter. She's short, curvy, quiet, and a great fisher. So what happenswhen an innocent otter shifter finds her match in a stubborn wolf who'sdetermined to avoid mating? You'll just have to read the book to find out.
Blurb:
He'll do whatever ittakes to earn back her trust.
A vacation is exactly what Ethan needs to escape the matehungry females in his pack. Determined to have fun, he can't think of a betterway to start than sampling all the different flavors the shifter only resorthas to offer, and not the food variety. But after he meets Gwen, no one elseholds any interest for him. Ethan came on vacation to avoid mating. There's noway he's going to give up his freedom without a fight.
Gwen is devastated when she hears her mate denyingeverything they are to each other. She can't sit by, watching him fool aroundwith other girls at the resort. Or worse, crawl back, unable to resist themating pull but not really wanting her. She needs to get away and her ownvacation sounds like the perfect plan. But she should have remembered what hermother always taught her, never run from a predator unless you want them tochase you. The hunt is on…
WARNING: This title contains explicit sex

Author bio:

I love romance. I love reading romance, living romance (who doesn't), but I especially love writing romance. There's no greater feeling than watching my characters come alive in each other's arms. Most of all, I love giving my characters the happily ever afters they deserve, with a little necessary drama first.

One of my favorite things is picking up a new book and sinking into the story, immersing myself in the emotions between the characters. I hope someday to inspire readers the same way my favorite authors have inspired me.

When not writing, I can usually be found curled up on the couch with a good book, taking my dogs for walks, or spending time with my family. It always makes my day to hear from my readers.

Guest post and giveaway with author Maureen O. Betita

Hey, everyone! Please join me in welcoming the fabulous Maureen O. Betita to my blog!

What Makes Your Summer Sizzle?
Ah, the sizzle of summer! Steamy nights, languid mornings, sweaty afternoons…and beach reads. I don't know about anyone else, but I want light reading for the summer. Give me some frothy mystery, amusing romp through space, bickering flea-bitten werewolves or other absurd premise and I'm set for a reading binge.
Yes, make me smile. Make me raise an eyebrow. Make me chuckle and embarrass myself with trying to stifle my laughter at Starbucks. Better yet, make me snort my Americano and reach for the shamwow to wipe off my reader.
Covers with cartoon images, bright colors and details to obsess over will attract me.It's summer, I want to laugh and not think about how fast Christmas will descend once summer is over. (Is it just me, or do the two seem to blend seamlessly into each other lately?)
Or, late at night, make me set the book down and go looking for my husband. Yeah, I can dig that also.
I've written books that I think fulfill both of my desires for what I want to read. (I mean, honestly, I have to write stories I'd read or what's the sense of any of it?)
In The Kraken's Mirror, I take a lonely widow and throw her to the pirates. She lands on her feet and goes on to seize the treasure of a cursed pirate captain's attention. Of course, he captures her heart along the way. Yup, I threw together a match making Kraken, a Tortuga pirate paradise where blenders work and the crew listen to their ipods as they swab the decks.

Hey, it makes me laugh!
In The Ship's Mistress and The Sister's Story, I satisfy the nighttime craving with two erotic shorts about humans in an alien universe. The Etwan set Jahiri on the path of sensual delight and it's a journey she flourishes in, until a client is determined to keep her to himself. She finds unexpected allies and a match to her desire as a ship's mistress on the high seas.

The Sister's Story tells of Jahiri's little sister and the quest to find her barely remembered sibling. Uncovering the past putsholds more danger than she imagined, but with two men at her side, Sari will discover who she is and expand the limits of passion.

What do you like to read during the sizzling days of summer?
