Robert Byrd, Some Facts

While real men were fighting Nazi racism in WWII, Byrd was serving as a high officer in the KKK:

— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944.

No problem, as somehow he never served in t...

A Response to Andrew Liptak

http://io9.com/5481380/your-military-science-fiction-isnt-really-military-science-fiction

"Futuristic militaries are a staple in science fiction. With their powered armor and laser guns, military science fiction novels are among the most exciting reads out there. Except for one problem. Most are not really about warfare."

Most stories about space travel aren't really about spaceships, either.

Why is that a problem? Stories are about people. SF went through its infancy of dwelling on gadgets. ...

Shooting Some Sacred Cows

Army, sometime in the 1920s: Most of the technological militaries are going to 6.5-7mm cartridges, with good success. John C. Garand, design us something like that.

Garand: How about a self-loading rifle in .276 Pedersen? Easy to shoot, reliable, effective.

Infantry officers: I wanna be a engineer! Let me tell you my ideas.

MacArthur: I've decided that since we had lots of .30, the rifle should be in .30. Just because we're changing doesn't mean we should…change.
Army: This rifle can't...

An Allegory

Let’s say I drink beer.  I have a beer when I wake up in the morning, a beer with breakfast, a beer in the car on my way to work, a beer at 10 am, a beer with lunch, a beer at 2 pm, a beer in the car on the way home, a beer with dinner, and a beer before bed.

Pretty much everyone would regard that as problem drinking, and my employer would bitch about time lost.

Let’s say I spit half the beer out, over my carpet, my car, the business’ floor, and on your clothes when you are around...

The Idiot Right's Turn in the Barrel

gays in the military debate on military.com

http://www.military.com/news/article/dod-changes-rules-for-discharging-gays.html?wh=news&ESRC=airforce-a.nl

the clown said this: "I was a special forces medic. What if you had to perform mouth to mouth on a guy you know had a dick in his mouth a few hours earlier?"

er...how is that different from a woman who had a dick in her mouth?

and....isn't that something EVERY EMT ON THE PLANET has to deal with?

they also may have their teeth smashed in or shot...

The "Tolerance" of 0bama's Cheerleaders.

http://www.theunion.com/article/20100...

Just imagine the uproar that would have attended the Democratic National Committee's caricaturing President Bush, as, say, a Nazi prison guard from "Hogan's Heroes," or as Wile E. Coyote, the incompetent cartoon predator. But when it comes to Obama, anything goes.

Yes, the Left NEVER made rude comparisons of Bush to Hitler, or OBL, or anyone else negative. Paragons of virtue, the Left.
