December 7, 2021: Nordlond Bestiary And Enemies Kickstarter Ending Soon

Thanks to a surge of support, the Nordlond Bestiary and Enemies Book funded on Dec 2. Now it's all about the stretch goals!

Nordlond

Bestiary is 144 pages and growing! Crushed a stretch goal! The Norðlondr Óvinabókin is now 144 pages long. From here out, every $4,000 gets 16 more pages, with the next goal at $42,000 for 160 pages. This continues until 240 pages and $62,000. For the The Fantasy Trip fans out there, if we beat that, at $73,000 everyone who pledges $15 or more gets a PDF of all the monsters, but converted for use with that system! Foundry VTT Support Announced

VTT Thanks to a lot of work and cooperation by Steve Jackson Games, "Nick and Nose," and the Foundry VTT, Gaming Ballistic is thrilled to include Foundry VTT support for the Bestiary monsters in the VTT Pack add-on! Watch a short-but-awesome video of how easy it makes using monsters and characters.Check out more details of what it will look like in Kickstarter Update #25.Get details of how to add it and which pledges already include it. The campaign is really taking off. There are enough people following to get the job done for 240 pages and more . . . if they pledge. Please Pledge! This book is the fantasy Bestiary we GURPS fans – and I'm absolutely one of them – have been asking for since 2004. Hardback. Full color. Optional use as doorstop or bullet-resistant panel (though you might want to buy several for that) remains to be seen. But this is it, and we're down to the last few days.

December 6, 2021: Old School Monsters Now Available!

[Image] If there's one thing that no gamemaster can ever have enough of, it is monsters to use against the unwitting adventurers who won't stop sticking their noses into subterranean death traps. Fortunately for The Fantasy Trip gamemasters in the audience, we've opened the Old School Monsters hardcover to wide release at our online store, Warehouse 23.

Old School Monsters includes 55 monsters from the oldest of old-school games, compiled under the OGL, and translated to The Fantasy Trip by Steve Jackson himself.

in addition to descriptions and game stats, this hardcover also includes die-cut counters for the monsters and 56 dry-erase monster cards you can shuffle into your Decks of Destiny collection. Would you like to randomly populate the labyrinth with monsters? Draw a card and throw whatever the gods of chance have decided to terrorize the party with right into the action.

Old School Monsters is now available in both hardcover and PDF.

December 5, 2021: Interview With Steve On CAR-PGa

Steve was recently interviewed by the Committee for the Advancement of Role-Playing Games (CAR-PGa), and the video is now live on their YouTube channel to check out. It's a robust interview with a lot of discussion on not only our own games and upcoming projects like The Fantasy Trip Foes Kickstarter, but also the state of games as a whole, and what comes next. If you're a fan of old-school gaming and the overall state of the gaming landscape, this is a great, easy listen. Thanks to CAR-PGa for sharing!

December 4, 2021: Car Wars Pocket Box Now On Amazon

[Image] Although the majority of our Pocket Box titles were not offered to distributors, we are happy to report that we're now taking steps to include the Pocket Games — and many expansions — as a part of our Amazon third-party store.

The classic Car Wars Pocket Box game, easily the most popular of our 1980s Pocket Box titles, is now available at Amazon. By listing the title on Amazon as well as on Warehouse 23, we expand our reach and make it much easier for casual gamers to find this near-exact reprint of that 1980s edition of the game.

You can find the Car Wars Pocket Box right here. If you're looking for even more Pocket Box games and expansions at Amazon, please see this category page.

Retailers: If you would like to add Car Wars and the 1980s expansions to your B&M store's selection, please email retailers@sjgames.com and request a direct-sales account.

December 3, 2021: Kickstarter Reports, December 2021 Update

Welcome to our monthly Kickstarter report! We post regularly to our various Kickstarter campaigns, and this Daily Illuminator post exists as a summary of our overall status when it comes to Kickstarter projects. For details, we recommend checking the updates for each of the projects listed below.

At the moment, we have three active projects and one upcoming campaign that is scheduled to launch on December 13th.

December 2, 2021: SJ Games Is Coming To PAX Unplugged

This Thanksgiving, one of the things I realized I was most grateful for is my team — and our ability to once again get out there and show off our hard work on the great games you've come to expect from Steve Jackson Games. At PAX Unplugged, on December 10-12, we'll be in booth 2934 to show you Car Wars Sixth Edition , Munchkin Russia , Hack & Slash , and more. We'll have collectible pins and swag, and most importantly – we'll be there to see YOU, our fans, as life (hopefully) returns to some semblance of normal and we're allowed once again to play games and share our experiences IN PERSON. See you in Philly!

December 1, 2021: Juggling The Schedule

Freight issues continue to cause trouble. Unfortunately, it's part of the world we live in and all we can do is adapt and deal with the changes as they hit. As a part of the "roll with it" approach, we recently revised our distribution release schedule for the next several months. Although there may be more changes, these are roughly the release dates we expect to hit with upcoming new games, expansions, and accessories.

November 30, 2021: Warehouse 23 Free Shipping Adjustment Begins December 1

We know people are tired of hearing about the freight and shipping issues that have been hindering the board game industry (and pretty much every industry) over the past year and a half, but with those obstacles, we have had to make adjustments on our end as well. Starting on December 1, the free shipping threshold on Warehouse 23 will be $200. We endeavor to keep costs to our fans down, and will continue to do that as much as possible, but the rising cost of shipping has forced us to make this change. As always, you can expect great promo cards and other swag in orders. Our team is working hard to get both Kickstarter pledges and holiday orders out the door to everybody, so get your holiday orders in soon!

We've got a load of fun items planned for Warehouse 23 going into the New Year, so stay tuned for more positive news regarding our web store!

November 28, 2021: Recognizing Games Omnivorous And Incredible Customer Service In Our Industry

[Image] Earlier this month, I ordered copies of Haunted Almanac , a collection of RPG work by Nate Treme and published by the talented team at Games Omnivorous. The PDF landed in my inbox shortly after ordering the hardcover, and I was stunned by the fabulous design of the book as well as quite happy with the content. (Though that was less of a surprise, since I was already familiar with Treme's indie RPG efforts and knew that the content itself was excellent.)

Flash forward to the delivery of the package . . . and a very sad sight. The box of books arrived in wonderful condition with only a single flaw: the box was empty.

Delivering empty boxes isn't exactly out of character for the USPS – as many of you know, the quality of their service has suffered greatly over the last few years – but seeing only a void where there should have been three copies of Haunted Almanac was a bit of a punch to the gut. Ouch. Two of those were intended as gifts, and after reading through the PDF I wanted the hardcover for my collection even more than I did before placing the order.

I reached out to Games Omnivorous to report the issue and they responded immediately with unexpected and generous news: the company is replacing my shipment at no charge! That level of customer service deserves a public thank-you, which brings us to this moment in time.

I was already considering a Daily Illuminator post to share Treme's Haunted Almanac with all of you, and now I'm even more confident that this is a work of art that deserves attention and support.

Thank you, Andre, for stepping up and fixing the issue. And thank you once again for assembling and publishing Haunted Almanac . Althought I have to wait a bit longer to hold the book in my hands, reading the PDF has made me certain that this is a book that deserves every chance at success.

Visit Games Omnivorous to get a closer look at the Haunted Almanac . To learn more about Nate Treme's work, including a peek at some of the content reproduced in the Haunted Almanac , please visit his website and poke around a bit. There's a lot of fun for those of you who enjoy rules-light RPGs.
