March 16, 2022: Batman Kickstarter Ending March 18!

The signal is lit and the fans have spoken:  Steve Jackson's Munchkin Presents Batman has been a rousing success on Kickstarter! We're over the moon about the support that fans of both Munchkin and Batman have given the project – not only funding, but unlocking all the stretch goals in under 24 hours. Now we're entering the home stretch and want to make sure that everyone has a chance to back a game that we've put lots of time and effort into.

From Steve's design innovations to John Kovalic's legendary art, we've got a veritable rogue's gallery of talent pitching in on this game. March 15, 2022: Play Munchkin Farkle At Select Stores!

The weekend of March 19-20, we're celebrating the recent release of Munchkin Farkle at a few local game stores! March 14, 2022: I Got To Write For Batman! Kind Of!

Still on Kickstarter is the new Munchkin game with the loooooong name: " Steve Jackson's Munchkin Presents Batman ." (Don't ask. It's a license, and sometimes you just shouldn't ask.)

The point is that we got to do it. Before I go any further, big thanks here to Cryptozoic Entertainment, our partner for the  Batman license. Not only did they let us do this, they were hugely helpful at every stage of talking us through the progress, and their studio skills made the Kickstarter video a thing of wonder and beauty.

I have been a Bat-fan for a long, long time. If you ask me which versions I prefer, I'd have to say that Adam West, Burt Ward, and their cast of villains represented the high point. But with a serious hat tip to Jim Carrey's Riddler and Heath Ledger's Joker. It's like discussing religion (or cheese). No matter how much you rave, unless you are Martin Luther (or Anthony Bourdain), you will never actually convert anyone. But if I had to put a stake in the ground, that's where it would be.

Doing this was just great. It's bragging rights, and I am hereby bragging. I am not quite a Batman writer; I did not put any words in the Dark Knight's mouth. But I sure made it possible for YOU to take him through some adventures that, for sheer weirdness, will do any version of the Caped Crusader proud.

And I'm delighted to say that my friend John Kovalic now IS, in all serious truth, a Batman artist! I especially like his Harley Quinn, and I hope that the big WB calls him someday and says "John, we need the funny." Because he can do it!

March 13, 2022: Revolution! Playtests

Philip duBarry's Revolution! is a fabulous game that we first published in 2009. The game is a social challenge, with no randomizers and every player taking their turn at the same time. Winning a game of Revolution! requires the ability to both plan ahead and read your opponents, and leaves plenty of room for deals . . . and backstabbing. Revolution! has been out of print for several years now, but we've got a new edition of the game in the works and playtesting is moving forward quite nicely.

The new Revolution! isn't a second edition, but a re-imagining of the game on a different world. Where the original was set in our history, the upcoming edition of Revolution! transports the action to another setting – one that we will reveal just as soon as we finalize the playtest and development process and have concrete data for a crowdfunding campaign to bring the game to life.

One of the biggest changes between the original game and the new project is that we're planning for both three/four player and five/six player versions in the same box. The gameboard and bidding boards are designed as two-sided, and a project stretch goal (if unlocked) adds that second side (five/six player version) to the game.

We aren't quite ready to share the details, but please watch the Daily Illuminator and we'll announce just as soon as the game exits the playtest and development process and we're ready for the crowdfunding stage!

March 12, 2022: Indiegogo Projects Update, March 2022

Crowdfunding is a powerful tool that gives us the information we need so that we don't overprint new releases. Although it is a smaller segment of our crowdfunding efforts, we find that Indiegogo is a great fit for the small campaigns, and we continue to build on our successes there with new projects. At the moment, our two open Indiegogo campaigns are:

Steve Jackson Games' FnordCon 2022 SwagWe're still preparing all of the materials and plan to start shipping perks at the end of April. If you missed the project, there's still a chance to get this package by pre-registering for FnordCon and joining us in Austin at the end of April. We hope to see you at the show! Car Wars Sixth Edition Double Drum Arena Playmat The playmats are shipping out as I write this and it is very possible that some project supporters already have their perks. For those who selected Car Wars games during the project, we have to ask for a tad more patience as we are wrapping up Kickstarter rewards and Warehouse 23 pre-orders before we finalize this Indiegogo campaign.Our next Indiegogo campaign is just about ready to go. We expect to launch the project later this month, so please keep your eyes on the Daily Illuminator and we'll share the project details as soon as we can!

March 11, 2022: Steve Jackson's Munchkin Presents Batman Manufacturing Update

Since the Kickstarter campaign (join today!) unlocked all stretch goals on the first day, we were able to provide the factory with the necessary "go!" sign so that they can continue their work.

This will help us to better meet the Kickstarter campaign's estimated delivery date; our experience with shipping and manufacturing delays over the last few years contributed to our decision to keep the stretch goals locked and not add stretch goals as the project reaches the closing date. As we've already mentioned, the Kickstarter backers are getting a bargain on the game and while offering more stretch goals might be fun, it would have a negative impact on our schedule and the project's overall finances.

We'll make sure to share progress reports with the Kickstarter backers as the work moves through the manufacturing and shipping stages. The best way to get these updates over the next few months? Support the Kickstarter project today!

March 10, 2022: Ogre Miniatures Set 4 Tooling

As we prepare for a crowdfunding campaign to bring Ogre Miniatures Set 4 from our wish list to your table, we've now reviewed — and provided feedback on — the new plastic miniatures included in the set. This project has been in the works for a few years now and is one of those long-delayed tasks that got overrun by the global pandemic as we shifted our attention to keeping the top-selling games in stock and supported. Nevertheless, the work continued to move ahead slowly as we traded images and STL files with the factory throughout a lot of 2020 and most of 2021. A few days ago we had another review session. They're not perfect yet, but they are getting there.

We're not yet ready to share photos of the new minis, and we don't have a date for the crowdfunding campaign, but this is an early warning to Ogre players everywhere: Ogre Miniatures Set 4 is proceeding and very likely to be ready for support later this year. We hope that many of you will join us in making these new miniatures just as soon as we're ready to pull the trigger and launch a crowdfunding campaign.

March 9, 2022: Coming This Year: Chibithulhu Six-Sided Dice!

Joining our Cthulhu d6 Dice Set   this year is the new Chibithulhu d6 Dice Set , a pack of six 19mm six-sided dice featuring the Chibithulhu character first illustrated by John Kovalic. These new dice turned out great, and now we're down to the joys of waiting for the factory to finish production . . . and then the pleasure of waiting as the dice travel across the ocean.

This new set of dice will reach store shelves later this year, possibly in the summer. You can believe we'll post an announcement just as soon as the dice are shipping to game stores.
