The issue of Tékumel and M.A.R. Barker, given what is known, doesn't really seem complicated. It's just painful.

I admire the world of Tékumel, have enjoyed my visits there, and am horrified by the revelation that its creator was, not to put too fine a point on it, a closet Nazi.

Jeff Grubb made some insightful comments on the subject. I think he reached a correct conclusion and supported it well, and rather than be redundant, I will just tip my hat to him and link to his post right here.

March 25, 2022: Steve Jackson Games' 2022 Mystery Box Now On Indiegogo

Our small Austin warehouse is overflowing with games; this is your chance to benefit from our woes! The 2022 Mystery Box is a 13" x 13" x 10" custom-printed mailer box that we're ready to pack with over $200 worth of gaming goodies. We've designed the boxes, but we aren't sure how many of these to print. Do we need 100 boxes? 200 boxes? More than 300 boxes? We don't know!

Right now we're finding out exactly how many boxes to produce in this Indiegogo campaign that closes on Tuesday, March 29. A single box is $100 plus shipping, and each box includes over $200 worth of games, supplements, and accessories . . . and maybe more depending on which stretch goals are unlocked!

We're also running scheduled learn-to-play events for Car Wars , as well as Munchkin Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar . We just added more event slots, so tickets are still available. March 23, 2022: Play The New Revolution At FnordCon!

As mentioned in this Daily Illuminator post, we have a new edition of Philip DuBarry's Revolution! in the works. Recently, at the GAMA Trade Show in Reno, we gave several retailers their first chance to try the new edition of this area-control, blind-bidding boardgame. We realize that not everyone had the good fortune to attend that show, so we're bringing the game to our in-person convention, FnordCon, at the end of April.

The game is on our 2022 crowdfunding schedule, but you don't have to wait until late this year or 2023 to play this new Revolution! game. Pre-register for FnordCon, join us in Austin, and you will get your chance to play the game and check out the early prototype we're using until we can get a proper tooling sample from the factory.

We have listed a new shirt on RedBubble, the Munchkin Ukraine Charity Shirt, with all proceeds going to the World Central Kitchen – the same charity our friend John Kovalic is donating toward with his Very Hard Stare print. We wanted to do something to support Ukraine, so we asked John if we could re-color some of his Spyke art to show our support. March 21, 2022: Preorder Steve Jackson's Munchkin Presents Batman Today!

Did you miss the Kickstarter campaign? Great news, gang, because you can preorder the Kickstarter edition of the game – at the Kickstarter price – right now at BackerKit. The game has entered the QC checks and assembly stage at the factory and we'll keep preorders open for a month or two . . . or while supplies last! We think we are making enough to cover the demand for the Kickstarter edition, but no guarantees!

Best of all, you can preorder the Kickstarter edition at the Kickstarter price: $50. Once we close preorders, any remaining copies of the Kickstarter edition will be released through Warehouse 23 at a $64.95 price. The retail edition of the game, which includes the same game just without extra accessories, is scheduled for release later this year.

Preorders are open to the US, Canada, EU, and UK. We are only shipping the Kickstarter edition of the game to those areas and no others.

March 20, 2022: Spyke And Flower Reserve A Table For Two At The Red Dragon Inn

The Red Dragon Inn is the watering hole of choice for parties of legendary dungeon delvers, and sometimes those dungeon delvers turn out to be munchkins. In particular, our own favorite Munchkin characters, Spyke and Flower, have checked into the inn to kick back after a long day of kicking down doors. But with many drinks come many scuffles over the loot from those dungeon dives, and former friends become fast foes as the fists fly! Ah . . . just like home for our munchkins.

March 19, 2022: Getting Into The 3D Printing Game

All the cool kids are doing it, so I used the list of recommended devices we posted to thefantasytrip.game (with one minor tweak; I bought the Mars 3 instead of the Mars 2) and ordered everything I need to start 3D printing. It's going to take a few weeks to get the machine up and running properly (mostly because of limited time and not how tough it is to use the equipment), but now it is only a matter of time until miniatures start magically appearing in the house.
