April 6, 2022: Giant Ogre Playmat Pre-Orders Now Open!

[Image] We've been asked over the last few years "When will the classic Ogre map be released as a playmat?"

We finally have an answer: The playmat is open for pre-orders right now!

Steve and the crew invested time into making this more than simply the map printed as a neoprene playmat. In addition to the Ogre map, this 3' x 3' playmat includes game aids printed directly on the playmat, making this a useful tool during play and especially to teach the game to a newcomer.

Pre-orders close on April 11. Later this summer, once we have shipped the pre-orders, any excess playmats will be released on Warehouse 23, and we may bring a handful to conventions. If you want to guarantee you get a copy of this new playmat, we recommend pre-ordering. We'll print to order, plus some extras. (Not many extras. These are big and our warehouse space is limited.)

April 5, 2022: Driving Offensively With Leslie Fish

Sea of Dreams The great SF songwriter/singer/filker Leslie Fish has dropped a "new" album. The reason for the quotes around "new" is that this album is made up of newly remastered music first recorded in concert back in 1998. This was during the first time Car Wars was a "thing" . . . and one of the songs was inspired by our favorite game of offensive driving. The album is Sea of Dreams , the song is "Route 40," and you can stream and listen now. Feed your need for Fish at Prometheus Music!

April 4, 2022: Preorder The Newest Car Wars Sixth Edition Playmat Before April 11!

[Image] Now that the Kickstarter rewards have made it through the warehouse and the Warehouse 23 preorders have shipped, we've opened preorders for a new 24" x 24" Car Wars Sixth Edition playmat at BackerKit. This City Block 1 playmat is the first in what may be a series of playmats, usable either for smaller battles or as part of a larger playscape.

We've run the playmat through the print test and now it is time to determine how many to print. Our warehouse is a tad overloaded at the moment, so we're planning to print to fulfill the preorders plus a small number for Warehouse 23 and convention sales. This means the best way to get your hands on this playmat is to place a preorder before April 11. As an added incentive and thank you for placing your preorder early, we've included a bundle: four of these new playmats for the price of three.

In addition to City Block 1 , this is also your second chance at the oversized Double Drum playmat, the Dashboard Playmats , and several Car Wars Sixth Edition titles* including the core game.

Preorder the new playmat today!

Phil Reed

* Please note that Car Wars Sixth Edition will be released on Warehouse 23 later this month. If you want to get your hands on the existing expansions and accessories before the new playmat ships, we recommend waiting to place an order for the game, expansions, and accessories at Warehouse 23 later this month. The playmats are expected to ship in June.

April 3, 2022: Recognizing An Anniversary

We're getting close to the 30-year anniversary of the decision in Steve Jackson Games Incorporated vs. U.S. Secret Service. Handed down in Federal court two years after the raid on our office, it still stands as a warning to law enforcement: Electronic publishers are publishers. Don't mess with them. First Amendment . . .

You can read a lot of historical files here, and you can visit the Electronic Frontier Foundation – without which we never would have been able to defend our rights in court! – for even more background.

April 2, 2022: We've Got A New Hack & Slash Expansion, And You Can Play It At FnordCon!

Our light family fantasy adventure game,  Hack & Slash ,  is now in its second printing, and we're assembling its first expansion – including new quest cards and a new type of card: treasures! Although the expansion won't be ready for release until late this year, those of you who attend our FnordCon convention the end of April will get the chance to play the expansion early. The art is complete, the layout is almost finished, and we're going to have more news about the game's expansion (planned as a small crowdfunding campaign – and yes, the core game will be offered in the expansion's crowdfunding project) at FnordCon.

If you already have a copy of the first printing of Hack & Slash please don't miss the solo rules that we've posted to the site as a free PDF. The game's second printing includes the solo rules, and we're packing those rules free in Warehouse 23 orders while supplies last.

You're not already pre-registered for FnordCon? Now's your chance! Both Steve Jackson and John Kovalic will be at the show, so make sure to bring your goodies and get those signatures!

March 31, 2022: February 2022 Top Sellers By Quantity

February was "Bizarro World" for our sales, with two of the consistent top sellers overtaken by a few surprises. We knew that a few of our dice sets were performing well, but seeing reprints of the Kitten d6 Dice Set and Puppy d6 Dice Set overtake  Munchkin and Zombie Dice drives home just how much some of you like dice . . . as well as kittens and puppies. It's unlikely this will happen again, but it was still a fun surprise to encounter when reviewing sales data. March 30, 2022: Getting Your Ukraine Shirts Signed

Since both John K. and I will be at FnordCon, it will be a great place to get shirts of all kinds signed.

That definitely includes the newest one, our Ukraine shirt. (And if you don't have one, you should order it. 100% of our receipts go to a reputable charity for Ukraine.)

We will NOT have these shirts for sale at the con – they are fulfilled by Redbubble. So order now, and send a message to that Russian warship.

March 29, 2022: Last Chance At The Indiegogo Mystery Box

Late today, the Steve Jackson Games 2022 Mystery Box project on Indiegogo comes to a close . . . and tomorrow we calculate how many mailer boxes we need and place our order with the box maker. Project supporters have unlocked several* stretch goals, packing the boxes to the brim with a random selection of games, expansions, and accessories pulled from our Austin warehouse. We plan to print extra boxes to take to Origins and Gen Con, but the best way to guarantee that you get one of these boxes loaded with over $200 worth of goodies is to join the Indiegogo campaign while there's still time!

The new Munchkin promo bookmarks unlocked during this project will first appear in the Mystery Box . In the future, at some unknown time, we'll use the new bookmarks as promo items packed randomly in Warehouse 23 orders and handed out at some conventions. Nothing in the box is exclusive to this campaign, but the box is the best way to grab the new promos all at once.

March 28, 2022: Can You Survive The Nightreign?

GURPS Infinite Worlds: Nightreign We've all been there. Sometimes you poke around the Colonial America of an alternate 18th-century timeline and unwittingly become exposed to an expanding darkness that threatens to devour the cosmos. It happens. And it's up to you to sort things out – or die trying . . . quite possibly horribly. Welcome to GURPS Infinite Worlds: Nightreign .

Nightreign is a complete horror campaign supplement for GURPS . It describes the alternate Earth, including its history (and divergence) and important personalities. It also dives deep into creating characters native to the realm (including its unique magical flavor), as well as insight into those who might visit it as part of the larger GURPS Infinite Worlds campaign. For those who delve deeper into its secrets, it provides rules and details about the forces of chaos that literally threaten to engulf the world – as well as stats and inspiration for monsters on this timeline, and tips on how to keep the darkness at bay. And – for the GM's eyes only – there is a final chapter of ultimate secrets that may prove all-consuming.

Whether you're Colonial bleak runners hoping to find supplies and salt to fight the encroaching madness, or off-world visitors who find themselves embroiled in a much more dangerous situation than expected, Nightreign awaits for you to make history . . . or perhaps serve as witness to the end of it. Download it today, only from Warehouse 23!
