August 12, 2022: Turbo Dork Paint Preview Party With Steve!

Next Wednesday, August 17, at 7:00 p.m., Dragon's Lair in Austin is hosting our friends Turbo Dork as they preview the new additions to their paint lineup, and we'll be there to help celebrate! We'll have some of our own miniatures there to test the paints on, including previews from our upcoming The Fantasy Trip Foes II set, as well as Car Wars Sixth Edition cars. We'll even bring some brushes - all you need to do is enjoy painting with some never-before-seen colors from Turbo Dork. Not only that, but Steve Jackson will be joining the party! He's an avid miniature painter and is looking forward to checking out the new lineup. I'll be there to take pictures and maybe sling some paint as well, so if you're in the area and looking for a little hobby time, swing by Dragon's Lair in Austin next week!

August 10, 2022: Thank You, Meeple Mountain! A Look At Deadly Doodles 2

Last month, we shared Meeple Mountain's how-to-play and review video of Deadly Doodles , our family-friendly draw-n-draw game for one to four players. That video does an excellent job of introducing the basics of the Deadly Doodles gameplay and is recommended if you've not yet played the game. You can find that first video in this Daily Illuminator post.

In addition to the original game, Meeple Mountain also created and posted a video review and overview of Deadly Doodles 2 , the expansion that adds six more maps to the game as well as several new mechanics that grow more and more challenging with each map. Thank you, Brody, for your time invested in creating both of these videos. We appreciate the promotional boost and we hope that many, many gamers and gamer parents take a little time to watch your videos and then take a shot at playing Deadly Doodles with their friends and families.

August 8, 2022: Kickstarter Reports, August 2022 Update

We have a campaign in funding (GURPS Pyramid Scheme) and five projects in the fulfillment stage. Of those five projects in fulfillment, we expect to complete shipping four of them before the end of August. This is great news, since it clears the decks for us to try some other crowdfunding projects. What's next? Hexagram #10 later this month . . . and then we'll turn to our list of in-the-works games and decide which one fits the needs of "close to completion" and "can be manufactured and delivered within a few months."

August 7, 2022: More Triplanetary Support

This is not an announcement or even a pre-announcement - it is somewhere between musing and raving about the fun I am having this week.

My Triplanetary set is all over the dining room table, and I'm reviewing the various Tripe articles that we've had on the website, plus some new ones. (And some in the middle - Stefan Jones revisited his articles and sent revisions.) The goal is to produce a small supplementary book. I think there will be actual counters included, too.

Because, after all, we are the people who will support a game 40 years old when it deserves it. And you know something? It's a blast.

August 6, 2022: Remembering Nichelle Nichols

An actress. A singer. A dancer. A role model. A trailblazer. Nichelle Nichols was all these and so much more. Her time on Star Trek helped change television and societal norms, while her tireless work off-screen helped push those boundaries ever further. She worked directly with NASA to help diversify recruits to the astronaut program and she personally inspired countless young women to pursue careers in science. Intelligent, bold, and unafraid to fight for progress, she upheld the ideals of the Federation both on-screen and off. As we salute her accomplishments in life, we commit her memory to history and her future to the stars.
