I’m a Teafluencer!

You might know I’m a tea fanatic. But you may not know that my go-to brand of tea is Harney and Sons. The company happens to be headquartered near me in New York’s bucolic Hudson Valley, but they source tea from all over the world — and it is world class.Harney & Sons Fine Teas

I love it – and I’m thrilled that they asked me to be their Teafluencer! I spoke to them at length recently about my writing, my inspiration, and my abiding love of tea, and I hope you’ll check it out on the Harney Blog!

I also had fun at the Teafluencer photo shoot striking tea-related poses and showing off my tea cabinet (well, the presentable one – the real stash is tucked away in a dark cabinet). Here are some outtakes:

Stepsister Reading: The Wolf Inside

Isabelle’s home town in Stepsister is St. Michele, a village in the French countryside. The old wives there speak of a wolf who is far more dangerous than the ones who prowl the fields and farms looking for hens and tender young lambs. Most of the village girls heed the warnings, but occasionally one does not. She stands her ground, looks the wolf in the eye, and falls in love with him …

Stepsister: Nero

The second horse in Stepsister is Nero, a majestic black stallion. He’s the stuff of fairy tales, but in this story he represents everything Isabelle – and girls like her everywhere – have had to give up in order to fit in.

Stepsister: Martin the Horse

My new novel Stepsister has a wide-ranging cast of characters, from scullery maids to generals to fairy queens to … HORSES! One is Martin, and he’s drawn directly from a cranky, lazy, big-hearted guy I knew and loved in my own life …

Stepsister: What is Beauty?

One of Stepsister’s main themes is YOU define your own beauty, not anyone else. It’s a message I’m passionate about sharing and I hope you’ll help spread the word!

Plotting My Next Novel

My latest book, Stepsister, is just out, yet I am deeply engaged in the story that follows it.  The other day I rolled a huge piece of paper out on my dining table, assembled my tea and chocolate, took a deep breath for courage, and plotted my next novel …

Stepsister: Chance Vs. Fate

Stepsister tells the story of an “ugly” stepsister who is left behind when Cinderella gets whisked away by the handsome prince. Her story is framed by a broader conflict — an eternal conflict — between Fate and Chance.
