Tea Rose Giveaway!
Next week, my new novel, These Shallow Graves, goes on sale! It's my first true historical book in several years, and to celebrate, I'm giving away signed audiobooks of the saga that started it all: The Tea Rose trilogy!
While Jo Montfort, the heroine in These Shallow Graves, is very much her own character, you may remember a young member of the Finnegan family who aspires to be a journalist at the end of the Rose trilogy. Did she inspire Jo? It's hard for me to say -- Jo came to me very much as herself, but there are clearly some similarities. I'll leave it to you to decide!

Clearing the Deck
SEA SPELL is done! The fourth and final Waterfire Saga book has been sent off to my editor, and I'm missing my mermaid friends already! I took down my idea board and placed all my images, notes, and outlines in a box.
Three years of my life in a box -- sighhhhhh.
The newly blank wall is a bit forlorn-looking, yet kind of exciting, too. What will go up there next? I can't wait to find out!!

New octopus discovered in Monterey Bay! Scientists are mulling the name Opistoteuthis adorabilis. Maybe Opie for short? Must work her into the Waterfire Saga books!

A UK Home For My New Book!
Big news to share with you! These Shallow Graves has a fabulous UK home! Hot Key Books will publish TSG in the UK and its territories this coming fall. I couldn’t be more excited to work with the Hot Key team. Hot Key made this awesome video, which made my week!

LOVE Olive Kitteridge!
Have had no time to read over the last few months, but am on a serious book binge now! Started off with Olive Kitteridge (Elizabeth Strout) and loved it. What a gorgeous book. Moved right on to The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher by Hilary Mantel. Cool, eerie short stories. Cannot WAIT for the BBC's miniseries of her books Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies to hit our shores....April 2015! Fangirl (Rainbow Rowell) and Between Shades of Gray (Ruta Sepetys) are next!

Finished DARK TIDE! Hurray!
Finished a book! DARK TIDE, the third Waterfire Saga book, is done and I'm going dancing! Off to Brooklyn to celebrate at Golden Fest at the Grand Prospect Hall. Two of my favorite bands are playing -- Slavic Soul Party and Zlatne Uste. If you're in Brooklyn tonight, come and make merry!
