Have You Packed This for Your Ark Encounter Visit?

Are you planning a visit to the Ark Encounter or the Creation Museum? If you are, I have a suggestion for something you should pack when you come (or grab when you get here), because it will really enhance your visit.
Our excellent guidebooks with options for all age levels (children, teens, and adults) are available for both attractions. You can grab them when you get here, but I strongly suggest you order them ahead of time so you can familiarize yourself with them and be ready for your journe...

Why Does the Hotel Industry Love Us?

Did you know the local hotel industry loves the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter? The reason why is obviousits because of the enormous number of guests these attractions bring to the area.
Answers in Genesis has a program called Partner Hotels where vetted hotels can be on a list on the Ark and Creation Museum websites. Before being allowed into the program, each hotel is thoroughly checked out to make sure it is of a standard we can recommend.
Last Tuesday, AiG hosted a luncheon at ...

Are Humans Driving A New Kind of Evolution in Animals?

Theres no question that humans have been and are continuing to change the earth, sometimes in minor ways, sometimes in dramatic ways. Those changes impact a wide variety of species, from animals to plants to fungal life. But are our cities, roadways, waterways, and more driving a new kind of evolution across animal species?
A lengthy article from Scientific American claims that anthropogenic evolution is affecting species across the planet and gives a variety of examples of the sp...

Ministry Update: Dr. Andrew Snelling to Return to Australia

It was a bittersweet day as, during a recent staff meeting, we honored Dr. Andrew Snelling (director of AiG research and editor of Answers Research Journal) for his many years at AiG.
Dr. Snelling and his wife, Kym, are soon returning to Australia where all of their family members (children, grandchildren, etc.) reside. They believe it is prudent to make this decision now while their health remains good.
It is with mixed emotions that they are returning to Australia, as they will miss being with ...

44th Anniversary of Mount St. Helens Eruption

Over 30 years ago, I had the opportunity to visit Mount St. Helens in Washington statethe site of an impressive volcanic eruption 44 years ago today (May 18, 1980). I remember just marveling over the power of the blast and the might of the God who created the earth and its mountains. I thought of this verse of Scripture, The mountains saw you and writhed (Habakkuk 3:10). I also visited Mount St. Helens a few years after the eruption to see the devastation and the amazing consequences o...

Creation Basics: The Gospel Is Grounded in Genesis

Today wraps up the blog series Ive been running for the past 10 weeksCreation Basics. And this post emphasizes the most important aspect of taking Genesis as literal history: the gospel. You see, Genesis is foundational to all of our major Christian doctrines, and that includes the gospel! Christianity is based in history, and that history is recorded for us beginning in Genesis 111.
Genesis really is foundational, as every single major Christian doctrine is either grounded directly or ...

An Orangutan Herbalist?

In June of 2022, a wild male orangutan named Rakus in Indonesia was observed with an open wound on his face from a fight with another male. Then, surprisingly, he was observed applying a poulticebasically, chewed leaves and sap from a very potent healing plantto the wound, which soon healed. Researchers claim this is the first example of a wild animal self-medicating with a plant with known therapeutic properties.
The plant Rakus chewed and applied was akar kuning, a plan...

Undertakers at the Ark Encounter?

We have two undertakers at the Ark Encounterwell, at Ararat Ridge Zoo, located behind the life-size Ark. Now, what do I mean by this? Well, meet Nzuri (ZUR-ee) and Mrembo (REM-boh).
Nzuri and Mrembo are our new female marabou (MARE-ah-boo) storks, the largest living members of the stork kind. Their names both mean pretty or beautiful in Swahili. Native to sub-Saharan Africa, these storks weigh up to 20 pounds, grow 45 feet tall, and have wingspans approaching 10 feet.

5 Tips for Building a Biblical Worldview in Your Kids

Late last year, I wrote a blog commenting on a new study that found that only 3% of children have the cornerstone beliefs that make a biblical worldview. Only 3 in 100 children! And studies tell us that most children will have developed their worldview by the time they are 13. This means the vast majority of the next generation will not have a biblical worldview. So what can parents do?
Well, here are five tips for building a biblical worldview in your kids:
Do worship time together a...May 13, 2024
Boy Scouts Changes to Scouting AmericaWhats the Lesson for AiG?

Boys and girls are not the same. There are only two genders of humans, male and female. These are statements that would not have been even slightly controversial 114 years ago when the Boy Scouts of America was formed. Such statements are considered by many today to be offensive and intolerant. But they are true!
It was that the Boy Scouts of America is changing its name next year to Scouting America in a move to be more welcoming of the entire scouting community. Report...
