Apple May Soon Allow You To Delete Its Default Apps

In an interview with BuzzFeed, CEO Tim Cook said Apple is exploring a way for users to delete unpopular native apps like Maps.

In a BuzzFeed interview published Tuesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook gave a hint of the company's changing strategy when it comes to the iPhone's native apps. John Paczkowski, BuzzFeed San Francisco's managing editor, spent a 20-minute car ride with Cook, during which he found out that Apple may eventually allow iPhone and iPad users to delete some of the default apps that come bundled with their product. This includes apps like Maps and Safari, which users frequently ignore in favor of apps from Google or other developers.

Lyft Is Partnering With Didi Kuaidi, Uber's Biggest Competitor In China

Bad news for Uber: Didi Kuaidi, China's top ride-sharing service, has joined forces with Lyft and invested $100 million in the company.

Less than a day after Chinese ride-hailing giant Didi Kuaidi made public a $100 million investment in Lyft, the two companies held a press conference announcing a "two countries, one app" solution as well as mutual technological and financial cooperation. Didi Kuaidi has proven to be a formidable opponent for Uber, which has poured resources into China this year—including a $1 billion investment—and supposedly clocks a million rides per day in the country.

Obama Just Invited Ahmed Mohamed To The White House

Mark Zuckerberg also pledged his support for Mohamed, who was arrested for inventing a clock that teachers mistook for a bomb.

Ahmed Mohamed, a 14-year-old Texas high schooler, was arrested and cuffed earlier this week after the homemade clock he showed to his science teacher was mistaken for a bomb. Though Mohamed's teachers may not have been impressed with his latest invention, other people certainly were: On Wednesday, President Obama fired out a tweet lauding Mohamed's clock and asking him to bring it over to the White House.

Will 2016 Be The App Election?

Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are the first presidential candidates to unveil official apps in efforts to set themselves apart from the pack.

A small Cincinnati-area digital agency called CanDo recently took on an unusual commission: Producing a presidential candidate's official campaign app. The app, Rand Paul 2016, lets users take selfies with Paul, donate money to his campaign, send emails to friends about campaign positions, and even play a secret 1980s-style arcade game where they can blast away at Jeb Bush and Donald Trump campaign logos.

As of Wednesday, Prime subscribers can get the Post free for six months—after which it will cost just $3.99 per month.
