PS22 Friday - Lisztomania

ps22

I actually don't like this song in its original form.  It's not that it's a bad song, just not presented in a way that appealed to me, personally.  However, when redone by these kids and their awesome teacher, it turns into something pretty freaking sweet.

So, welcome back to PS22 Fridays.  These kids rule.  Their teacher rules.  Music and the Arts ROCK!

Just in case you were wondering...

I haven't been posting in a bit, though not for lack of trying.  I actually had several posts set up to post automatically but unfortunately my server ate them in a ravenous bid to put on some unnecessary blog-weight.  *hmph*

Food For Thought: Asians read YA, too!

foodforthought

I got an email this morning in the wee hours of the morning (4am my time) that was basically one, long blast about how they (the writer) could not relate to the characters in my books/work.  She lamented on how my characters aren't like her, how they're so categorically different that she could not picture herself in any of my characters' shoes.

I understand that sometimes that happens, especially when a character is the opposite of a reader in every way as far as personality and behavior ...

Black Halo: Chapter List

bhalo_chapters

With Black Halo just a few more weeks away from release, I thought I'd do something that I didn't do with the other two books to help you get a feel for what's coming. I'm posting the chapter list for you so you can get a feel for what is in store for Grace and Robert, Graham and Lark, and Stacy and the rest of the people that make up Grace's world.

Every single chapter that's in the book is listed here, nothing left out. (That's 41 Chapters, in case you're wondering!) It's a slight...

Food for Thought

foodforthought

There's a lot of anger and hatred in this country.  A lot of people hold such a strong grip on their own confusion-laced resentment that it is often times scary.  When many of them gather in a group, one often feels intimidated, frightened.  Often times they'll use the sheer force of numbers to bend you to their will, or to force you to capitulate.  Whether their motivations are personal, political, religious, or monetary, their actions are often times met with equal rancor and, in many...

Excerpt From Black Halo #2

bhalo

"Grace, whatever your decision when it comes to Robert, you have to realize that he's not going to leave your side.  He loves you.  I can say that with a straight face and totally not crack up because I know what it means to love someone the way he does you.  I also know that what I feel for Lark probably pales in comparison to what he feels for you, what with his wings and his…winginess and all, but if I could, I'd stay by her side forever."

Excerpt from Black Halo

bhalo

When the hospital doors closed behind me, the unnatural quiet that surrounded me was my first warning.  With the intensely bright lights seeping behind me through the glass doors of the hospital, I could do nothing but squint as I tried to look at everything in front of me, wary of the darkness scattered with a smattering of dull, amber light that coupled with the silence that did not belong in a structure full of cars.
