Food For Thought: Asians read YA, too!

 

I got an email this morning in the wee hours of the morning (4am my time) that was basically one, long blast about how they (the writer) could not relate to the characters in my books/work.  She lamented on how my characters aren't like her, how they're so categorically different that she could not picture herself in any of my characters' shoes.

I understand that sometimes that happens, especially when a character is the opposite of a reader in every way as far as personality and behavior ...
