January 15, 2021: Pitch Day!

Well, I am exhausted.  Spent the better part of the day prepping a pitch.  The late-in-the-day pitches are the worse as it simply means more time spent stewing, and less time spent working on anything else.  In the end, however, it went very well.  I think.  Of course, it’s impossible to tell and, even if you’re instincts are correct and you did deliver a fabulous pitch, so many other elements will inform the final decision.  Who knows?  Maybe someone pitched them an even better psychic dog detective series on the very same day.

The weekend – and the NFL football playoffs – is upon us!  I will, of course, be rooting for the Packers, Bills, Browns, and Saints.  And you?

I came across a slew of SG-1 and Atlantis concept art.  Let me know if you’ve already seen these…

‘Utopia Falls’ Showrunner Joseph Mallozzi To Adapt Fantasy Novels ‘Powder Mage’ As TV Series With No Equal Entertainment & Frantic Films

Well there it is, the promised announcement of that fantasy series adaptation I’ve been cryptically referring to for months now.  Very much looking forward to collaborating with author Brian McLellan, Frantic Films, and the amazing J.B. Sugar on this one.  As I told Brian, it’s going to be a blast!

January 12, 2021: A first draft, jellied eels, and the perils of white hole technology!

Huzzah!  First draft of my Project F pilot completed, coming in at a robust 60 pages.  Right on the line!  It’s gone out for notes, leaving me time to start researching and build a potential soundtrack.

Beware if you purchased the Malted Vanilla and Tungsten Brittle ice cream.  It may no be gluten-free!

January 9, 2021: Wraith rockers, King Cake, and Feedback!

And on keyboards….Todd!!!

Okay.  I have completed a rough draft of the pilot script for Project F.  It’s only slightly over-long at 61 packed pages.  Tomorrow, I am going to revise the last two acts, then review the entire script with the aim of adding a few more gaming touches, a better sense of First World and Second World social orders, and, of course, music flags.

Oh, hey, apparently there is a section called “feedback” on this blog where people have been leaving me feedback as far back as August 15th.  Apologies, but I didn’t even realize this existed.  And I truly hate it.  It’s like receiving DM’s from fans asking show-related questions that would be better suited to public forums where their fellow fans could read and benefit.  It’s like linkedin – totally useless but, apparently, almost impossible to delete.

So, how’s everyone doing?  How are those New Year’s resolutions panning out, may I ask?

Believe it or not, I’ve never had Mardi Gras King Cake.  What am I missing?

Well, this is exciting.  Akemi made chili oil today using shallots, garlic, Szechuan peppercorns, dried garden chilis, and salt.  I’d describe it as medium-spicy.  And delicious.

Speaking of delicious…

So the press release for that book series adaptation will be going out next week.  I offered some suggested tweaks and, of course, a quote – drawn from this very blog.  It’s going to be a blast.

Working Project F, meanwhile, continues apace.  I’ve hit the 57 page mark and probably will be long – but not AS long as I originally assumed.   I’m quite happy with the first four acts and, no doubt, will be pleased with the fifth one as well after I’ve massaged and polished it a few times.  Going to try to complete a solid first draft by top of next week and get it out to my readers.  And, while they’re reading, I’m going to have to do a deep dive into some potential K-pop score and source music.  I usually find research tiresome but in this case, I’m okay with it.

Wildcard Weekend kicks off early tomorrow afternoon with the first of SIX GAMES!  I’ll be rooting for a Saints-Titans Super Bowl.  My second choices would be Bills-Packers.  The absolute worst possible Super Bowl match-up would be Chiefs-Seahawks.  And you?
