Geeks are hot!

Admit it ladies (and gents), they fascinate us. Those big brains are just so very sexy. And yet those poor geeks, keep getting shafted in stories. Not all men of intellect are short, pasty, bald professor types. They can be tall, handsome, and yes, even fit and toned. Where they fall into their nerdy category, is with their intellect and burning desire to know. In the pursuit of knowledge, they ignore everything–haircuts, trendy clothing, and sometimes even social niceties. When they do emerge from their fascinating studies, they blush and possibly stammer, crack jokes using words we might not grasp. But do you know what? Personally, I think that makes them all the cuter.

In my case, I was the proverbial nerd. A total geek girl with straight A's and all kinds of academic honors. I did math competitions for fun–and, (gasp) even enjoyed it. I wore glasses and read at a speed that just about burned pages. And yet, even though I had a vocabulary of an older girl, the social aptitude of a mute nun, and cheeks that blushed red at a male smile, I always had guys chasing me, many of them jocks and bad boys. Apparently, my intellect was a turn on. I know my adorable alpha hubby of 11 years loves my book smarts. But as he likes to add, I am a babe in the woods when it comes to street smarts.

Thus, it was with great fun, and some personal experience, I wrote The Geek Job, geeky scientist meets hot babe–with a paranormal twist of course. If you want to read an excerpt or more click on the cover. And for those who might have noticed already–I self published this piece. But don't worry, my editor for my Princess Of Hell series and other works, Victoria Miller, went through my work with a fine tooth comb, and she designed that smoking hot cover. So you can expect the same quality as you've become used to, but, at a lesser price.

Happy reading !!!

Spring is coming!

I hope. I am sick and tired of winter and cold weather. I might be Canadian, but I hate snow.

In anticipation of the warmer weather, I've started my indoor seedlings. I've got two peat moss trays and a stupid amount of seeds planted in them–I like to have backups because I tend to kill alot. This year we're going for: carrots, tomatoes, tiny tomatoes, corn, watermelon, cucumber, and pumpkin. We're also going to expand the garden area massively now that we've taken down the swingset due to safety issues–IE my son leaping from the swing at its highest peak and trying to give me a heart attack.

I'm quite excited about our expanded garden. I suck at growing plants, but when  I do manage to keep a few alive and reap their yummy fruit or veggie, I am ecstatic. My hubby thinks I'm nuts given my failure to success ration, but he goes along with it. He even agreed to let me plant a cherry tree. I do so love eating those. Our raspberry bush was a huge success and is thriving like crazy with the help of lots of pool water–we backwash into it and what do you know, the damned thing loves it. Our blueberry bushes, despite being transplanted to a better location, are sadly not thriving. And we lost our strawberry plant to bunnies last year, and not the cute and cuddly, white floppy eared variety.

Garden issues aside, there is something about spring that brings me to life. I find the days don't drag by as long. I find myself more energized. And I get a great workout mopping up the mud the children track in. LOL.

So what's spring do for you? Does it make you want to clean out the garage and get rid of your junk after a marathon weekend of Hoarder shows? Or are you one of those sick people who's sad to see winter go?

I've been nominated!

And I am just tickled all kinds of colors. It's for my first true paranormal piece Lucifer's Daughter, book one in my Princess of Hell series. Published by Liquid Silver in August of last year, it's a story that's garnered lots of reader interest and some fantastic reviews. I do admit the content is not suitable for all readers, but those with an open mind where religion is concerned might find some of the concepts within my story intriguing. Oh and be prepared to love Lucifer as a father figure.

Anyways back to my giggling and chortling over my nomination, Lucifer's Daughter has been nominated at The Romance Reviews.

Best in Debut Book in 2010

Best in Paranormal Romance for 2010

If you're a fan, I do hope you'll come over and vote for me :)

I love fairy tales

There is something about a couple who go on a quest, thumb their noses at the gods, prevail against a magical curse and finally fall in love that makes me sigh happily. I really enjoy stories dealing with fantasy and magic. There's something romantic about it, a sensuality if you wish, as opposed to the eroticness of shapeshifters and vampires. Don't get me wrong, wizards are hot and sexy, they just don't need to rip off their clothes and go all alpha to do it :) .

Fantasy stories are also the place where God's play a part, and I mean play.  I believe Higher Powers view us mortals as little more than toys, figurines on a live game board. They influence our decisions, throw roadblocks in our way, and ultimately control our fate. Well, not completely, because we humans are after all stubborn little buggers. But, they definitely like to throw monkey wrenches in the way, especially the God of Chance who's a bit of a character. And don't get me started on the Goddess Of Love.

As you might have guess with my rambling, I've written two stories that I believe fall under the heading of fairy tale romance. They've got wizards, magic, gods and a whole lot of fun. And even better, they're novel sized :)

Will they prevail against an evil sorceress?

My book is early!

Eek! Last Minion Standing has arrived a week early, and I am so not prepared. LOL.

It's a great story for those who haven't checked it out yet.  It's got a heroine who is borderline bad, an alpha who is way too hunky for his own good and alot of humor interspersed with action. In other words, a ton of spicy fun.

Along with my hot new release, there are two giveaways going on.

Chance's Game is up for grabs to a lucky commentator at http://annlory.blogspot.com/2011/01/in-author-spotlight-contest-eve.html

And Crazy is also part of a giveaway at http://www.paranormalhaven.com/2011/01/interview-and-giveaway-with-eve.html

Exciting as those things are, I'm even more psyched that Scared of Spiders is number three right now at AllRomance. I just about fainted when it hit the top ten and am in awe that so many readers are picking it up and, judging by the ratings, really enjoying it.

THANK YOU! As a writer, it makes me ecstatic to know I've given you something that you're all enjoying so much.

Well, back to my writing cave and my WIP.  I've got a really feisty gal who just won't give in to a particularly hot alpha. And he's trying so hard to get her to change her mind. But he's got competition in the form of some of his buddies. I smell a possible menage coming if they can all just stop fighting long enough to realize everyone would be having more fun with their clothes off ;p

My poor little boy

I feel so bad for my seven year old son. He's got pink eye. He came home from school with it and is now in self imposed quarantine at home because it's highly contagious. Not only is he missing school, he's probably not going to hockey. The doctor said he could play, we just needed to keep him from touching other kids and since he's covered in equipment o the ice, there's no danger of infecting others. BUT, I don't want to subject him to ignorant parents who might say something and make him feel bad. Then to top it all off, he has to miss a birthday party for a classmate at the fun filled Neb's World. He's understandably a little dejected.

I have a plan though to keep him in good spirits this weekend. Major video game playing. I'm going to keep him hopping to the off key singing of some Rockband. Kick his butt at Pleggo. And roar in laughter as we battle in Castle Crashers. Infectious he might be, but, I'll brave his germs to play with him and make him smile. It's what this mommy does best.

Wish me luck keeping my active son entertained while attempting to keep my other two children, myself and hubby from catching it. I am gagging on the scent of Lysol already. LOL

Hope everyone else has a healthier weekend.

Hot Damn!

I've got a triple release happening Friday, January 14th!

Threesome action, werewolves, aliens, a geek girl, one ancient Egyptian queen and vampires. Is there anything I haven't covered? LOL.

I'm sure you've already read the excerpts/blurbs and seen the covers, but what about some insight into these 3 stories?

Let's start with Alien Mate 3. I'll admit, I love my big, blue guys. In this newest story, I drew on my geeky side–yes I was the girl with straight A's in school who got picked on. I thought wouldn't it just be the adventure of a lifetime if a girl of science met a real live alien? And not just any extraterrestrial, but one who is determined to avoid the whole mating thing. Warning: this is a humorous galactic romp that just might make you wish for a big blue alien of your own.

LOL, now onto my naughty threesome titled Cleopatra's Men featuring, you guessed it, the Egyptian Queen herself. This story was a result of a documentary I watched on her life. It struck me as rude how the historians referred to her as the whore queen. Knowing how little power woman truly had in days gone by, it occurred to me that perhaps historians–who are men after all– maybe made assumptions on Cleopatra's choices. As a woman in a male dominated time, it's so easy to imagine that she was given little to no choice in what happened to her. Sure, she might have brazenly embraced some of her situations, but remember she was a young girl, initially married off to her brother–eew. Can anyone blame her for some of the choices she made? Anyways, in my tale, we get a quick glimpse of her past then we're fast forwarding to modern day where Cleo's been thrown out of Hell by Lucifer. And that's when the romance and adventure starts with titillating result.

And finally, the story with the coolest title ever. Scared Of Spiders. For this one, I drew on my extreme shrieking fear of spiders to write about Josie, timid mouse who comes to work for a company where everyone else is a werewolf. But she's in safe hands– two sets that is because the owner, who is the pack alpha, and his beta, both want her. Even better, they don't mind sharing. Be warned though, I threw in the monster of all spiders in the hopes Josie would face her fear. Oh and be prepared at the conclusion to want some werewolves of your very own :)

Guest Post by Stacey Kennedy

Please welcome Stacey Kennedy as she talks about The Magical Sword series

Where Urban Fantasy meets Paranormal Romance…

When I decided to write my first series I was torn with what genre to write it in.  Of course, I love a good romance so I had to have that.  But I also love a kick-ass heroine and a dangerous adventure.  So instead of confining myself to one genre, I just wrote and what I ended up with was The Magical Sword series.

All four novels in the series are your typical romance but keep you on the edge of your seat with the action scenes.  Needless to say they definitely fall into the urban fantasy romance genre.  You'll find dangerous moments, heated love scenes, but you'll also find humor too.  My stories are always fast paced, because hey, that's just how I like to read.  I'm not a huge fan of lengthy descriptions or boring details.  I love dialogue, fight scenes and hot sex!  So…that's what you'll discover in my stories.  The truth is, I write what I love to read.

I'm sad to see this series come to an end and I will miss writing the lives of Nexi and Kyden.  My only consolation is that I'm bringing both of them back as secondary characters into the series that will follow The Magical Sword, The Enchanted sight.  So, letting go of them now isn't really a good-bye just a see-ya-later.

The Magical Sword series―where love meets danger and sparks fly!
