Spring is coming!
I hope. I am sick and tired of winter and cold weather. I might be Canadian, but I hate snow.
In anticipation of the warmer weather, I've started my indoor seedlings. I've got two peat moss trays and a stupid amount of seeds planted in them–I like to have backups because I tend to kill alot. This year we're going for: carrots, tomatoes, tiny tomatoes, corn, watermelon, cucumber, and pumpkin. We're also going to expand the garden area massively now that we've taken down the swingset due to safety issues–IE my son leaping from the swing at its highest peak and trying to give me a heart attack.
I'm quite excited about our expanded garden. I suck at growing plants, but when I do manage to keep a few alive and reap their yummy fruit or veggie, I am ecstatic. My hubby thinks I'm nuts given my failure to success ration, but he goes along with it. He even agreed to let me plant a cherry tree. I do so love eating those. Our raspberry bush was a huge success and is thriving like crazy with the help of lots of pool water–we backwash into it and what do you know, the damned thing loves it. Our blueberry bushes, despite being transplanted to a better location, are sadly not thriving. And we lost our strawberry plant to bunnies last year, and not the cute and cuddly, white floppy eared variety.
Garden issues aside, there is something about spring that brings me to life. I find the days don't drag by as long. I find myself more energized. And I get a great workout mopping up the mud the children track in. LOL.
So what's spring do for you? Does it make you want to clean out the garage and get rid of your junk after a marathon weekend of Hoarder shows? Or are you one of those sick people who's sad to see winter go?
