THE FACE OF JESUS
I love variety. I do not speak to everyone the same. Don’t let others force ideas upon you, and don’t feel condemned because you are unique. I find joy in you just as you are!
THE FACE OF JESUS
What does Jesus look like? I can tell you how I recognize Him. Jesus looks like goodness. Goodness is a hard thing to make into an idol.
How do you recognize Jesus? Is there a way He’s appeared to you in your life? Be careful that you don’t carve that in stone in your heart and tell others that this is exactly what God looks like, because it’s not. You need to let people discover Jesus for themselves. He doesn’t show up to you the same way He shows up to somebody else.
Once you chisel out God’s image, once it’s in the stone of your heart and mind, it’s no longer personal. It’s no longer relational. It’s also taking the Gospel out of who Jesus is.
This will really bake your noodle. There are 31,171 scriptures in the Bible. John 5:36 says, “the scriptures testify of Him.” Even though the scriptures are screaming about Jesus, there’s no description of Him. None.
Why doesn’t it say, “And Jesus stood 6′ 3″ having darketh jet black hair, browneth eyes and olive skin, which is natural unto the Jews of that region”? Do you know why the Bible doesn’t say that? Because we would call that Godliness!
We’d all have to have black hair in order to be Christians. We’d all have to be brown-eyed. We’d all have to have olive skin because we tend to worship an image. We conform our lives to images whenever we do not conform our lives to Jesus.
We don’t get out our mallet and chisel and go to town on a big piece of stone to carve out an idol. We don’t have to. We carve out images of God in our hearts and minds. It’s time to stop! That personal relationship with Jesus goes both ways. Even for your neighbor.
Those who make an image, all of them are useless, And their precious things shall not profit; They are their own witnesses; They neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed. – Isaiah 44:9
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO KNOW HE SPEAKS AND APPEARS TO YOU IN A UNIQUE WAY, ALL YOUR OWN. CHERISH IT AND LET HIM SPEAK TO OTHERS IN THEIR UNIQUE WAY.

RITES OF PASSAGE
You belong. You are part of the family. Feelings of isolation or loneliness are not what you think. Exclusiveness is My rite of passage for you. Move into my presence today.
RITES OF PASSAGE
I’ve noticed that when people are tribal, they have a time when they cross a line and become committed to their tribe. Those lines are called ‘rites of passage.’
The term ‘rite of passage’ means any important act or event that serves to mark a passage from one stage of life to another. It’s where you say, “That was then, this is now.”
That’s what redemption is all about. I love redemption. It’s also what repentance is all about – that was then, this is now. I promise you, repentance is your friend.
So tribal people all over the world have certain rites of passage. Whether it’s tattoos, sweat rooms, piercings or a walk in the fire, what’s crazy to one tribe, makes perfect sense to another.
For the Jews, it’s a thirteenth birthday party celebration called a bar mitzvah for a boy or a bat mitzvah for a girl. Even though they aren’t men or women yet, they call them so because they are being committed to manhood or womanhood. That’s a kingdom principle.
Here at OpenDoor Church, rites of passage to our tribe include going after upgrade from the wilderness to your Promised Land, baptism of the Holy Spirit and walking in prophetic gifts. These are just a few of the ways you know you belong.
Do you belong? Have you made a commitment to be part of our tribe? Cross the line. Go after better. Join us in bringing heaven to earth and bring redemption because you have been redeemed.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” – John 3:6

HIDE AND SEEK
Seek and you shall find Me. My face is always shining upon you. It makes me so happy when you feel My presence and turn back to me. You have all my attention and all my affection. I am limitless.
HIDE AND SEEK
How Jesus Christ is revealed to us is not through an image. Jesus reveals Himself to us through the Ta-Da!
It’s the moment where the lightbulb goes on, the bombshell drops or the lightning bolt strikes. It’s during that moment of clarity that Jesus shows up and get this – it’s always personal. Always.
So here’s the deal. Are ya’ll ready for something that should make you just plain jealous? There is a way that Jesus has shown up to me that He probably won’t ever show up to you.
What? Before you get your big boy or girl pants in a knot, I’m also going to tell you this: I’m jealous of you. Why? Because there is a way Jesus has shown up to you that He probably won’t ever show up to me.
Jesus, like His encounters, is so personal. When we worship an image of Jesus, we miss out on the personal part of it. That’s when we start to make idols that resemble Jesus, instead of encountering Him in new and amazing ways.
See, everything in the Kingdom is relational before it is functional. If it’s not relational, it is simply dysfunctional. That’s why the face of Jesus in the New Testament is not revealed through a stone statue or painted picture, but through His heart.
Your Jesus encounters are not going to be anything like mine. How Jesus shows up to you is not how He reveals Himself to me because He knows how you need to see Him, and How I need to experience Him. He’s out for maximum impact and to do that, Jesus get’s personal. He puts His whole heart into it.
Have you seen Him lately? Do you need a personal encounter with your king, burden-bearer, big brother or God Himself? Seek His face. You’ll find His heart.
Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually. – 1 Chronicles 16:11

MY CHURCH IS BETTER
God is building up His body and you are a part of it! Be open to the direction of the Holy Spirit. Your place is to encourage the body. The Holy Spirit will show you how to serve.
MY CHURCH IS BETTER!
We are the House of God and “a house divided against itself will not stand.” The Word of God says that in Mark 3:25.
Infighting and petty jealousy are the kryptonite of the church. God hates for us to fight the wrong enemy. We need to have a value for the church in the United States. Any time we see a church doing anything good, we need to make a big deal about it.
I get letters from smaller churches saying now that our church has blown up, theirs are dying because they can’t compete with us. Get this – we’re not in competition with each other.
In Johnson County, there are 131 churches and 180,000 people. If all the seats were filled, we can hold 26,500 people. That means 153,500 souls don’t even have a chair. Do not tell me churches are in competition against each other.
Newsflash! Our competition is the world. You have no idea the spirit from hell you are partnering with when you badmouth the church.
Yes, sometimes it’s hard to stand with other Christians. I try to find the one bit of common ground and plant myself there. We’re better when we serve together.
I love our tribe. I love our church and our weirdness. I am not mad at the other tribes for not being as cool as us. I’m not mad at any church for how they do church. Do not join the wrong team or kill the church’s efforts with “friendly” fire.
Know this: our tribe will not be known for who we stand against, but who we stand for – Jesus – and who we stand with – the church. We’re not all the same, but we follow the same King. To the keep!
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teacher, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. – Ephesians 4:11-13
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO LOVE THE CHURCH. CAST DOWN THE SPIRITS OF RELIGION AND DIVISIVENESS BY STANDING FOR JESUS!

EMPOWERMENT PRINCIPLE NO. 3
When things are looking up, don’t be looking down. Ask Me to give you an eye to see and an ear to hear what I have for you. Don’t settle for less than My best.
EMPOWERMENT PRINCIPLE NO. 3
People who partner with God are empowered to walk in supernatural favor. They see signs and wonders. They see supernatural breakthrough.
I’m just now beginning to have mastery in some parts of my life. I’m also becoming aware that there are other areas that need upgrading. I should have started messing with those a long time ago, but that’s on me. Nobody’s going to make me get up early in the morning and seek the Lord.
Still, I’m favored because I’ve partnered with God on many things, including the Open Door Food Bank. We’re now feeding thousands of hungry people millions of pounds of food every year. That’s a big upgrade from giving away bread out of the back of my truck.
I’ve been favored as a pastor who traveled the world in business class despite not having the money to pay my electric bill. The Lord caused a mighty man of God to donate his frequent flyer miles to my ministry.
He’s also favored me by hooking this ministry up with Pastor Gloria Gillaspie, who literally gave me the keys to this multi-million-dollar church complex because God told her to.
Favor will cause things to go your way even things you weren’t looking for. People you never met will join your cause, give you great advice, and help you advance. Signs and miracles will start popping up. Supernatural finances will kick in and there’s no stopping you – unless you stop you.
Partner with the Holy Spirit and take on new territory, face the giant, and say, “Not on my watch, you devil from hell.” Offer salvation to the lost and give the glory to God. Jesus is counting on you to be a giant killer today so He can show you favor for many years to come.
For he who finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord. – Proverbs 8:35

UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY
Today is the day to be unified! Stop just surviving.Thrive when you become unified by the heart of God. You can’t go wrong when you follow love.
UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY
I’m a sixth-generation Texan, and every Texan knows the Comanche Indians were in this part of the world for a very long time – about 4,000 years before any Europeans showed up.
They were systematically wiped out from one end of the country to the other. Why? Because the Europeans showed up? No. That was not the problem, but the result of the problem.
The Comanche, along with many other native tribes, were wiped out because they were never unified – never.
The American Indians were good people – smart, caring, talented, but we don’t know anything about them because nobody ever bothered to form a written language. For 4,000 years, nobody ever thought beyond their own generation. Why?
They were too busy fighting each other. They didn’t advance.
They never were unified or fought in a selfless way that unified the generation behind them. They were only about today’s survival and survival will kill you. Let me say that again – survival mode will kill you. They had good people among them, but every tribe prided itself on killing the other.
Just like the Body of Christ.
Sister Suzie Rottenheart and her pack of wolves gossiping about the preacher and his wife. They complain about the worship and the color of the carpet. They blast the church down the street on Facebook because they sprinkle instead of dunk. They take selfies as they picket the abortion clinic, threatening and shaming the lost girls looking for help – any help. They are the only people who are right and everyone else is wrong.
The Europeans are here. They are us. But hear me when I tell you this: Not in this house! Not in this tribe!
The devil is our enemy. Not each other. You can rail against the spirit of religion all you want. Just don’t give it a name like “First Church of the Seventh Day Baptist Brethren of Christ.” Hate religion, not the church.
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement, give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus. – Romans 15:5
United, the church becomes a conduit for the Holy Spirit to bring heaven to earth. We’re a conduit for good works, healing, miracles, signs and wonders. Know your enemy. The church ain’t it!

I DARE YOU!
I am building courage and boldness in you to move into places you never dreamed. I have not given you a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. Open your heart and let me fill it with My desires. Then you will succeed, be fruitful and multiply!
I DARE YOU!
My whole life, I’ve never felt like a very successful person. The Lord has made me to be a successful man and I’m just now realizing that.
God’s been telling me, “Troy Brewer, you need to repent of that! I’ve called you to be successful. I’ve called you to be fruitful. I’ve called you to be victorious. Troy, you are.”
Cool! How did that happen, by the way? When did stuff that never worked before, start working? It comes from being faithful and God always giving me a green light, saying, “I dare you. I dare you.”
I say, “Don’t be daring me, ’cause I will.” And then I’ll be dipped, because I get in that place, and there it is, God gives it to me. That’s how the Promised Land works. You believe God is saying yes, and you say, “OK, I’m going to make it happen because God says yes.”
God empowers you to make it happen! There’s not anything you and King Jesus cannot achieve.
The question is: Are you willing to take Him up on His dare? Because you know there’s something He’s daring you to do for the Kingdom. Whether it’s going on a mission trip, starting a ministry, building a business, going to college or kicking a money sucking habit so you can be a crazy giver – whatever He wants to you do – jump in!
I double dog dare you!
“When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you.” – Deuteronomy 20:1-2
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO GO AFTER SUCCESS. KNOW GOD WANTS YOU TO BE FRUITFUL AND VICTORIOUS. HE SAYS, “YES!”

TRUSTED BY GOD
Don’t be intimidated by the harvest. My Holy Spirit will bring forth fruit in you as you begin to know Me more. Trust Me and allow Me to lead you into better.
TRUSTED BY GOD
God doesn’t think like a poor person. He thinks like a rich person because He is. That’s why God Almighty has trusted you with a life that He hasn’t trusted anybody else with. What’s that all about?
Because He has made such an incredible investment in your life, He expects a return out of you – a harvest. The harvest only happens when you cooperate with God and work with His agenda.
How do you know His agenda? You have to be plugged into the heart of the Lord Jesus Christ. Be committed to seeing His kingdom come and His will be done, on the earth that is your life, as it is in heaven.
The heart of Jesus toward you is Him seeing you produce good fruit that glorifies the Father. John says it like this:
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” – John 15:16
You are chosen and trusted by King Jesus to bring Him a fruitful harvest. Go after the heart of Jesus and bear good fruit in your relationships, job, family, finances and ministry. Return that investment with interest!

THE PICTURE OF PARTNERSHIP
Take My hand. Let’s walk and dream together. Tell Me the desires of your heart, and I will tell you Mine. You will find freedom in My heart for you.
THE PICTURE OF PARTNERSHIP
While God may be the sovereign creator of the universe and doesn’t need to consult us about anything, He loves to surprise us by partnering with us to do amazing things.
Check this out. In 2 Samuel chapter 7, Kind David had it in his heart to build God a Temple. God said that it wasn’t His idea, but tells David, “You’re my idea.” So, He let David draw up the plans and Solomon carried them out. Then He formed the entire Jewish society around where the temple was.
That wasn’t God’s idea. It was David’s. That’s a picture of partnership!
In Numbers 14:11-19, God was talking to Moses and God was really mad. He said He was done with these people and He was going to wipe them out and start a whole nation out of Moses. Moses told God it wasn’t a good idea because the Egyptians would hear about Him killing the people He freed from bondage. They would talk bad about Him, and both God and Moses would get a bad rep. God agreed.
What?!? You can partner with God and God can change His mind? Yes! If you’re in right relationship with Him, He will literally change the course of history for you. That’s powerful.
While God is sovereign and in total control of the universe, He has given dominion of this world to us. We decide how much of heaven invades earth. It’s amazing, but Jesus is trusting us with that!
We can stand in the gap and be intercessors! If we humble ourselves, pray and confess our sins, the Bible says He will hear us and heal whatever mess we’re bringing before Him. So what or who are you bringing before Him? Change the course of history for someone who is lost by bringing them before the Lord today!
We work together with God. So we are asking you not to receive God’s grace and then do nothing with it. – 2 Corinthians 6
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO PARTNER WITH JESUS FOR THE REDEMPTION OF MANY. HE IS THE GOD WHO ANSWERS PRAYERS!
