THE BREAD OF LIFE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I came so that you might have life and life more abundantly. I Am the Bread of Life that sustains you, especially when trials and temptations hit. I prepare a table in the presence of your enemies. Sit. Eat. You will never hunger again as I fill you with my Spirit.

THE HOUSE OF BREAD

It’s not just at Christmas that I like to thank God for His indescribable gift of Jesus. But there’s something else in the Bible that is indescribable, and that’s manna.

“And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as the frost on the ground. So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, ‘What is it?’ For they did not know what it was…And the house of Israel called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.” – Exodus 16:14-15, 31

The word “manna” literally means, “What is it?” It was bread that fell from heaven and couldn’t be defined or explained. It was supernatural and natural at the same time.

Exactly like the Savior the Bible foretold would be born in Bethlehem. That baby would be supernatural and natural at the same exact time – 100 percent God and 100 percent man at the same exact time. Jesus was a natural piece of “bread” that didn’t come from earth. He actually came from heaven, and He was born in what city? Bethlehem.

But you Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth unto Me the One to be Ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” – Micah 5:2

The name Bethlehem means “house of bread”. That’s a big deal. So why was it prophesied that Messiah would be born in a city called the “house of bread”? Because He is supernatural and natural at the same time, just like manna.

Manna is a type and a shadow for Jesus Christ. It’s something that shows up every single day of your life and you don’t know where it comes from, how it got there, but He’s there and your life is good because of that. You go through things that ought to kill you, but this power of God that shows up on a daily basis and manifests – well, you know how to walk it out, but you don’t know how to explain it to anybody.

Well, that’s Jesus. He said it himself in the book of John:

“…I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” – John 6:35

He, like manna, is an indescribable gift from Heaven. So this day and every day, thank God for the gift of Jesus!

TOWER OF THE FLOCK

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I did not come into the world to condemn it, but to save it. I do not condemn you. My Father is not mad at you. He has put the deposit of the Holy Spirit in you as proof of His love and My sacrifice. You are saved through My blood. Go and sin no more.

TOWER OF THE FLOCK

There’s an obscure prophecy about the birth of Jesus that’s not just about the town of Bethlehem, it nails down Messiah’s birth to the square foot. You might not have heard this before, but it’s in the book of Micah.

“And you, O tower of the flock, the stronghold of the daughter of Zion, to you shall it come, even the former dominion shall come, the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.” – Micah 4:8

It’s a prophecy that the Messiah would be born not only in Bethlehem, but in the “Tower of the Flock.” So, what is that?

The Tower of the Flock belonged to Shepherd’s Field – the same exact field where David grew up watching sheep and having crazy cool encounters with God. You need to know, the shepherds in this field were not normal. They were part of the Levitical priesthood.

Their job was to watch as lambs were born. If a lamb had no spot or blemish, it was worthy for sacrifice. If it was spotless, they swaddled it – they wrapped it up to protect it from getting bruised.

Let me tell you what they wrapped it in. They wrapped it up in the bloody priestly garment. Why? Whenever they took a lamb to be sacrificed, there might have been hundreds of Levitical priests out slaughtering animals. Every time their garments were spotted, they had to change.

So what do you do with all those robes? You rip them up and use them as wicks in the Menorah of the house of God. The light that was burning was lit by the blood-stained garments of the priests. There’s a huge revelation in that.

They also used them to wrap newborn lambs, then take them to the Tower of the Flock. They laid the lambs down, then lit a fire on top of the tower to let the priests know there was a lamb worthy to be slain.

Connect the dots. Jesus was born in the Tower of the Flock – where the priests placed lambs worthy to be slain. And a star arose on the top of it – a supernatural fire – that came from heaven saying, “There is One who is supernatural, not just to hide the sins of the world, but to take away the sins of the world.”

Now it makes sense that the angels appeared to the shepherds. It was their job to let everybody know a lamb worthy to be slain has been born! They were the only ones truly qualified.

So, on Christmas morning, the angels of the Lord show up to them and say, “Listen, I’ve got great news for you! Good tidings, good will to men…You will find the Child wrapped in swaddling clothes laying in a manger.”

You gotta know the shepherds knew exactly where that was because they went there all the time! They ran to the Tower of the Flock, which was prophesied 700 years earlier. Now, here’s the difference between Jesus and all those thousands of spotless lambs.

Jesus wasn’t laying where all the other lambs were. He was laying in the feeding trough where they fed the other lambs. Why? Because He is the Bread of Life from John 6:35! Hallelujah! Like manna, Jesus is an indescribable gift from heaven. Let Him fill your life today so you will never be hungry for goodness or mercy ever again.

THOUGHTS MATTER

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I have not called you to walk alone. Know that I Am leading you along the path I have for you.  Do not let the enemy discourage you by what you can see. Let Me open your eyes to all the promises I have planned for you.

THOUGHTS MATTER

I am passionate about leadership and anything entrepreneurial. I’m like a sponge when it comes to anything about transformation or going to another level. I’m a part of all kinds of book clubs and mentoring communities.

Think about how much of your attention is being stolen by the wicked writers of Hollywood. The vast majority of Christians are distracted at best and addicted to being entertained at the worst.

Does anybody know what Harry Potter’s wand is made out of? Holly. Holly wood is literally a witch’s wand. Paul asked the Galatians, “who has bewitched you?” Today, I’m asking you, “have you been bewitched into the prison of being entertained.”

Now, this brother is not against seeing movies. I love movies. I love stories. I’m not against that. But here’s what I’m against – giving all of my life and all of my devotion to things that are not in alignment with my assignment. That’s wisdom.

It’s wisdom to give your time and attention to Godly things. It’s wisdom to study time management, upgrade and how to advance to the next level of just about any part of your life – your spiritual life is a huge part of that.

Learn to be a leader. Learn to be a servant. There are things competing for your attention and for what you will devote your life to. Find your focus and get in alignment for your assignment. Your thoughts matter so think about things that elevate your life. That’s wisdom too!

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” – 1 Corinthians 2:12

MADLY IN LOVE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I Am a loving Father waiting for you to come converse with me. I miss you when we don’t talk. No matter your posture, come. I will listen whether you’re standing or sitting, running or walking. I hear you.

MADLY IN LOVE

Some believe there is only one position for prayer, head bowed, eyes closed, sitting still. I beg to differ. I got saved when I was 19 and I had no idea how to talk to God, so I just approached Him like I was talking to my earthly father.

When I was a little boy, I approached my daddy by looking up and reaching up. I still find myself doing that today. For some reason, I’ve always equated looking up to heaven as being expectant and it just feels right for my relationship with Abba.

Christ himself prayed in several different positions. Standing was common. It’s easy to dismiss that but He stands in several places. He doesn’t stop what He’s doing and take a different stance. His prayer is an extension of what’s going on. Case in point:

“After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed…” – John 17:1

Jesus prayed in the typical Jewish manner, looking up to heaven with His arms raised. Paul refers to this in 1 Timothy.

“I want men everywhere to lift up holy hand in prayer…” – 1 Timothy 2:8

Now, there’s no mandate saying that’s the only way you can pray, but Church culture is sometimes not Kingdom culture. We should have been taught this because it’s in the Bible, it is normal Kingdom stuff. Amen.

Somehow, a cookie cutter bow-your-head-close-your-eyes and fold-your-hands formula has crept into the church. While it’s reverent, it’s not very relational. What do you think God is happier with – your reverence or your openness? I can tell you, God loves relationship and everything in the Kingdom is relational before it’s functional.

Can we just dive all the way in, be madly in love with Jesus and say yes to the Lord? Approach God in the way that opens conversation and has meaning to you. Looking up might be for glory, looking down might be for submission and humility. Standing while looking up might show confidence in Papa while laying prostrate might show humility or desperation.

Regardless of how you stand or don’t stand, look up or look down, the point is pray! It’s all about falling madly in love with His presence.

“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry.” – Psalms 34:15

CLAIM YOUR REWARD

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I Am not concerned with your past. I care about your today and your tomorrow because I see you as complete and whole through the lens of Jesus’ sacrifice. You are Holy even when you have failed. Get up. Follow Me and claim My purpose for your life.

CLAIM YOUR REWARD

So if you want to know how Jesus rules and reigns in the midst of being persecuted, you need to read Revelation 2:8-11. This is where He writes to the church in Smyrna.

He says, “He knows their tribulations present and future” but encourages them to be faithful “unto death” so He can give them the Crown of Life. “He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”

How does Jesus rule and reign in the midst of a situation and a people whose integrity is completely compromised? Read Revelation 2:12-17. It’s written to the church of Pergamos.

Jesus is unhappy that they’ve let untrue doctrines creep into their thinking. He tells them to repent. If they do, He will make them “overcomers” and reward them with “hidden manna and a white stone” to call them blameless.

How does Jesus rule and reign in the midst of a people, His people, who have a corrupt agenda? Read Revelation 2:18-29, His letter to Thyatira.

Guilty of sexual immorality and embracing a Jezebel spirit, He encourages them to hold fast to the truth and do Kingdom work. If they overcome, he will give them “power over the nations.”

What does Jesus do with a church that is dead, as it was in Sardis? Read Revelation 3:1-6 where Jesus tells them to remember “His teachings, to hold fast and repent”. If they can, He will “clothe them in white garments” showing they are blameless and will “not blot their names out of the Book of Life.”

How does Jesus rule and reign with a church that is weak, but they are faithful? Read Revelation 3:7-13. How does Jesus rule and reign in the midst of a people that are lukewarm? Read Revelation 3:14-22.

Do you see yourself in any of these churches? Are you persecuted or is your integrity compromised by something stupid you’ve done? Is your mind or life corrupted, or are you embracing immorality of some kind?

Maybe you’re lukewarm, weak or dead in your faith. If you see yourself here, REPENT! Turn away and let Jesus reward you like He promises to do in these scriptures. I promise it is priceless!

“After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.’” – Genesis 15:1

THE WAY OF THE FLESH

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

While you are surrounded by your flesh, I through the Holy Spirit, indwell you. Focus on your core, the deepest part of you and find Me. I have put eternity in your heart. Search it out. I Am there.

THE WAY OF THE FLESH

To walk in the flesh literally means “to go the way that your flesh dictates.” You have all these genes that work against you. In your mind, you have reasons to oppose God. Things have happened that shouldn’t have and there have been things that didn’t happen but should have.

All those things are the way of the flesh. The way of the flesh has to do with your rights. The things that seem right to you according to your survival and how your world has been dictated to you. You feel like you have a right to rebel against God and act a fool.

One of the things that drives me crazy about some of the characters in superhero films, like Harvey Dent who is Two Face in the Batman comics, is they’re good people until something bad happens. Then they become monsters. Why? Because everybody knows that’s what you do when you’re wronged.

No! You don’t have to be a slave to that one incident and let it mess you up. “But Pastor Troy, you don’t understand. I’ve had my face burnt.” My best friend Jamie has third degree burns over 40 percent of his body and he doesn’t stomp around mad and blaming God or people. Jamie is a hero, but he chooses to be because he is filled with the Holy Spirit.

If you don’t have the way of the Spirit and you’re not able to walk in the newness of life, you are a slave to every event that ever happens. You’re walking in the way of the flesh. Walking in the way of the flesh versus walking in the newness of life is this: God Almighty has offered you freedom, but you reject freedom because you reject Him

Newness doesn’t come from knowing the secret handshake, learning Scriptures or going to the right church. It comes from following the Lord Jesus Christ and if you reject Jesus, you reject your chance for freedom.

Walk as the Spirit dictates. While your flesh is a huge part of you, when the Spirit lives in you, you have access to its power. Choose the Spirit and defeat the flesh. It’s your choice.

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

The Reset to King and Kingdom

Sunday, April 11, 2021

RESET 1: The Reset to King and Kingdom

Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX

Larry Randolph gave a prophetic word in this house at the beginning of 2020 and said

“WE HAVE ENTERED INTO THE TIME

OF THE GREAT RESET.”

– Larry Randolph

Reset (verb)

1: to set again or anew

reset type, reset a diamond, reset a circuit breaker

2: to change the reading of often to zero

reset an odometer

Recalibrate: to standardize (something, such as a measuring instrument) by determining the deviation from a standard so as to ascertain the proper correction factors

You Adjust

Standard…Measure…Purpose…Fulfillment

4: to adjust precisely for a particular function calibrate a thermometer

5: to measure precisely

Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

If you want Kingdom results you have to be a Kingdom Christian.

WE MUST BE “KINGDOM” CHRISTIANS

Not all Christians are Kingdom Christians. Not all churches are Kingdom-minded.

* There are lots of forms of Christianity that in fact have nothing to do with the heart of King Jesus but are merely ideas and cultures with a steeple on the roof or a bible in the house or a cross on the wall.

Matthew 23:27

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness

John 16:2

They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.

True and False Disciples in the church

Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

There has to be more.

Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,

For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one

who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

Carrying out the heart or the will of the father is what the Kingdom is all about.

People who follow Kingdom principles get Kingdom results

What is a Kingdom?

It’s where the King has dominion

To understand what Jesus meant by the phrase, “the kingdom of God,” we must first understand what a kingdom is. When we in the Western world hear the word, we may think of kings and queens ruling in empires like England. A regent over a kingdom is someone who has authority in that kingdom. That kingdom is a place where they actively rule and reign.

So, what did it mean when Jesus said that God has a kingdom, and that it has come near?

“Kingdom of heaven” is found thirty-two times, all in the Gospel of Matthew. Many other expressions can be related to the Kingdom of God such as “thy kingdom” (Matt 6:10), “heavenly kingdom” (2 Tim 4:18), “kingdom of his dear Son” (Col 1:13), “kingdom of Christ and of God” (Eph 5:5), “my Father’s kingdom” (Matt 26:29), “everlasting kingdom” (2 Pet 1:11), “my kingdom” John 18:36; Luke 22:30), “his kingdom” (Matt 6:33; Luke 12:31, ASV), and many references simply to “kingdom.”

What is the Kingdom of God?

The kingdom of God, as Jesus spoke about it, was not limited to a physical city, country, or land mass – even to the borders of ancient Israel. Rather, the kingdom of God was the dynamic reign of God over heaven and earth; all things visible and invisible.

For the ancient Jews, the idea of the “kingdom of God” was an accepted theological reality. Taught by prophets like Isaiah, the people of Israel believed that God is the one true King and Creator of the world. As King, he rules the cosmos (Ps. 24:8-10), and will one day express that rule fully on earth through his selected regent – an anointed one (Is. 61:1).

On that day, God’s people, Israel, will be delivered from their oppressors and brought home from their long exile. The world will be set to rights, brought under God’s shalom (peace) again as it had been in the beginning. God’s anointed, appointed King will rule the people of the world with justice, mercy, and love. This was the day for which they hoped, prayed, and persevered.

Jesus inaugurates the Kingdom

Jesus, a simple carpenter’s son and a Jew, is born in first century Palestine. One day, as a young man, he steps forward in a synagogue to read the Old Testament. He chooses a revered text that speaks of the anointed King to come. It is from the revered prophet Isaiah, chapter 61.

Here is the account:

 Luke 4:17-20

“He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.’Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, ‘Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.’”

.

A FEARLESS DEMONSTRATION OF FREEDOM, REDEMPTION AND THE GOODNESS OF GOD

A church without the Kingdom is a church without God’s spirit! It is not a church it’s a relic.

Ephesians 6:10

”Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”

Ephesians 5:18

”Be filled with the Spirit.”

HOLY ENOUGH FOR HEAVEN?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I know you are weary and feel inadequate. Stop trying to earn My acceptance and approval. Know you are in Me and I Am in you and that is enough. There is nothing you need to add to your life. Rest in My finished work, I have made you righteous.

HOLY ENOUGH FOR HEAVEN?

There’s going to be a test on your life. God Almighty provided the Bible to let us know exactly what’s going to be on the test and exactly how you can pass the Great White Throne Judgment found in Revelation 20.

“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” – Revelation 20:11-15

You only live once, but it’s possible to die twice. This speaks of the second death for the people who are not found in the Book of Life. Let me tell you what this test is about: are you holy or not? Every single one of us has sinned. Every single one of us have fallen short of the glory of God. But I’ve got great news! Jesus Christ left heaven, became a man and He passed the test for us.

He lived 33 years as a human and never sinned. Then, are you ready for this? He offers His A+ grade of holiness to us. There should only be one name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life – “Lamb”. He’s the only One worthy to open it or be in it, but He writes the names of those He has given His grade to alongside His own.

That’s why if you haven’t given your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you need to do that. As soon as you do, your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life as though you were the one who lived a sinless life. Receive His free gift and walk in it.

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

For those names found in the Lamb’s book of life, there’s a second test called the Judgment Seat of Christ. This test is to see if you served, but that’s a talk for another day!
