WATCHING AT HIS GATES?
Seek Me with your whole heart and believe you will find Me. You are My child and no good thing will I withhold from you. You will find treasures in Me that will fill you up beyond what you could ask or imagine.
WATCHING AT HIS GATES?It’s important to speak favor upon people because we all need favor. Favor is supernatural advantage. Advantage? You might say, “It’s not fair.” I love that it’s not fair. I love that I get pulled over all the time for speeding and I only get warning tickets.
“Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD.” – Proverbs 8:34-35
The whole thing about favor and supernatural advantage is you have to find it. It means you have to seek favor. If you seek, you will find. If you ask, it is answered. If you knock, the door is opened to you. We are told to daily come listening, waiting and seeking. So, listen to Proverbs 8 again:
“Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.” – Proverbs 8:34
This is a picture of what people use to do to Elvis. They’d wait at his gates hoping to just get a glimpse of him. The Body of Christ needs to do that for Jesus. Are we waiting at His gates just hoping for a glimpse of Him? If you’ll be like that, you will find life and obtain favor.
At one of our orphanages in India, little boys and girls who are not a part of our orphanage, are sleeping in front of our gates every night. They stay at the gates hoping there will be room for them. Can you imagine?
Do you believe God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him? Are you waiting in faith-filled expectancy believing He will show you His favor? Seek and you will find.

AT HAND
I have said many times I will never leave you nor forsake you. That means I Am with you always. I Am at hand. Because of this, being in alignment with My plan is also at hand. Find your assignment through Me.
AT HANDAs John the Baptist said, “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” That means you can reach out and grab it right now.
You don’t have to wait. You don’t have to get your act together. You don’t have to be smart or good enough. Jesus is real and Jesus is alive. That means He’s right here with you, right now. He is “at hand.” So, what are you going to do with this knowledge?
It’s one thing for Him to tell you something about your assignment. It’s another thing for you to say, “Okay! I’m in!” Well, my friends, that’s alignment. Alignment is about conforming your life to God’s plan and to His heart.
Graham Cooke says in his amazing book Coming Into Alignment, “we learn about the nature of God because He applies His heart to ours.” Let that sink in for just a moment. Whoever God is showing Himself to be to you, that’s how you’re going to demonstrate Him.
If God is showing you that He’s your Deliverer, guess what you get to be? A deliverer! If He’s showing you He’s full of wisdom, guess what you get to have? Wisdom. If God Almighty is showing you that He’s Jehovah Jireh and He’s your provider, guess what you’re going to get to be? That’s right. A provider for those who have nothing.
Your identity, purpose, and destiny are closer than you think. If you get into alignment for your assignment, if you jump all the way into God’s will for your life, the Kingdom of heaven will come to this earth. The gates of hell would shake and God would have His way in your life.
Repent of your indifference. Repent of being comfortable. The Kingdom of heaven is at hand – right here, right now.
“And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’” – Matthew 10:7

BRIDGE THE DISTANCE
Find Me today in an unexpected place. I Am not the God of stained glass windows and altars. I Am a God of personal relationship and intimacy. Continue to seek My Face for I will be found by you.
BRIDGE THE DISTANCEOne of the reasons so much of the Church is faithless is because its experience with God is so minimal. Why does the church have so little faith, especially the American Church? It’s because God doesn’t move in church services.
The American Church, especially, has put God in the box of Sunday at 11 a.m. within these four walls. Most of us simply listen to a sermon on how God moved thousands of years ago and call that “experience” or “growth.”
I call that sad.
If you don’t have powerful encounters with God outside of church, you’re not going to make it. You need to start having powerful encounters with King Jesus and you need to build up a trust between you where you are willing to be more vulnerable than you’ve ever been.
Hear me on this: every time you get vulnerable with God, He blesses you.
It’s true. You have to go after the secret things of God, then actually experience those things so your faith can build from there. Brother John says it like this:
“…we have known and believed the love that God has for us…” – 1 John 4:16
To truly believe, which is faith, you have to know and knowing comes from personal experience. There is faith unto salvation, but that’s not what I’m talking about today. I’m talking about the gift of faith and the gifts must be exercised and walked out.
If you don’t have ongoing, powerful encounters with Jesus, your relationship will begin to fail and you will find yourself loving God from a distance. Again, that’s just sad. Go after experience with Jesus. Invite Him to move in your life outside of church on days other than Sunday. Dare to bridge the distance.

Trail Blazers Part 2: The Influence of His Presence
Trail Blazers Part 2: The Influence of His Presence
Sunday, March 21, 2021
Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX
You are either being led by the Spirit or you are being driven by fear.
Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Break up the fallow ground as Hosea 10:12 says and become a trail blazer that sets a new
norm for others with you and behind you.
DO NOT FEAR WHAT IS FRIGHTENING
1 Peter 3:13;16
Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.
…keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior
in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”
The way we are led by the Spirit should influence and change everything God sends us into–the
way we carry the presence of God, the way we carry the promises of God. The courageous
stances we take. Our determination to be
A FEARLESS DEMONSTRATION OF FREEDOM, REDEMPTION AND THE GOODNESS OF
GOD
This is your assignment. This is your purpose.
You are an agent of change. You are a catalyst for the Kingdom.
Open your Bibles to Philippians 1 and 1 Kings 18
Philippians 1:27-30 NKJV
Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or
am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving
together for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is
to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
Unity in courage. It’s living life in a way that looks like Jesus.
Things your mom and dad said that stick:
“Because I said so.”
“Life’s not fair. The fair is in Dallas.”
“Your face is going to freeze like that.”
“If everybody jumped off a cliff would you too?”
“Be on time.”
“Make your bed.”
“If you tell somebody your going to do something, you do it.”
We remember these things because there’s influence in them.
What is influence? John Maxwell says, “Leadership is influence. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Mr. Webster says influence is, “The capacity or power of persons or things to be a compelling
force on or produce effects on the actions, behavior, opinions, etc., of others.”
The reason so many things stick that your parents teach you, is because of relationship. But I
want to tell you another reason that most people miss:
Environment, Atmosphere and Culture
Your parents, positive or negative, for better or worse, consciously or unconsciously, are the
shapers of the environment, atmosphere and culture of the house you grew up in.
God has designed the world so that whoever leads the environment, the atmosphere and the
culture has the greatest influence.
Environment
The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.
Genesis 2:15 ESV
The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
In order for God to build a perfect relationship with a human being that would develop, grow and
produce the fruit of the HOLY spirit, He had to place him in an environment that needed help
developing, growing and producing.
Psalm 23:1-3
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
The environment goes hand in hand with influence
Jeremiah 2:7 ESV
And I brought you into a plentiful land to enjoy its fruits and its good things. But when you came
in, you defiled my land and made my heritage an abomination.
God expects us to be stewards of our environments.
Atmosphere
The pervading tone or mood of a place, situation or work of art.
Ephesians 2:2
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of
the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Culture
“The way we do things around here.”
Culture is defined by whoever sets the values.
Proverbs 29:2
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked rules, the people
mourn.
Environment, Atmosphere and Culture
Courage: the ability to do something that frightens one; strength in the face of pain or grief.
Famous quotes about courage include:
“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more
important than fear.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt
“Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway.” – John Wayne
“Fear is actually a healthy thing and not a sign of weakness.”
The word courage appears in Scripture 28 times.
28 is the number for times and seasons.
11 of those times we read the words
“Be strong and of good courage.”
11 is the number for heroes rising. It’s also the number for judgment over disorder.
In God’s economy, strength and courage go together. Not only that, God actually calls courage
“good.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is
the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
The other thing we see in scripture is the phrase “take courage” or “took courage.”
In these instances, it seems courage is something God has and we need to grab hold of it just
like Joseph of Arimathea did at the death of Jesus and the universally famous empty tomb:
Mark 15:43
Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of
God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
Matthew 5:13
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It
is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

AVOIDING THE TRAP DOOR
I love you too much to let you stay the way you are. Each new height you reach in your awareness and understanding of Me is cause for celebration in the heavenly realms. Know that I Am singing over you as you continue to grow.
AVOIDING THE TRAP DOORProgressing is a big deal. You should have a growing relationship with God that re-teaches you Jesus over and over again. Here are a few ways to know if this applies to you or not.
Do you have ongoing, new revelation about Jesus on a regular basis?Has your theology about God and how He works changed over the past few years?Have you seen signs, miracles, and wonders in your life in the last year?Do you hear God speaking to you?Do you ever feel the presence or prompting of the Holy Spirit?Do you know your purpose and destiny?Let me tell you, if you answered no to any of these, I’m worried about you.
You should not have the same exact theology that you did 20,10 or even five years ago. If you walked a powerful walk with the Lord in 2017, there are things you should believe now that you didn’t at the beginning of January 2017. There should be things you’ve experienced in God that you didn’t know He did before that. That’s growth.
If you’re ever going to walk in a sense of wonder, you have to be open to the unexplainable parts of God. If you’re happy with just knowing God in really safe ways – attending church and knowing God through your Bible – you may have a relationship with the book and not the Savior. Just something to think about.
As you grow in the Lord, as your theology expands with your experience, it positions Him more and more as King. When Jesus is your King, you become more and more dependent on Him. Total dependency on Jesus theology is the theology you and I need to have.
If you have not learned that, it’s okay. A trap door will fall out from under you and you’ll go right back to the wilderness. In the wilderness, Jesus will love you and care for you, but His goal isn’t for you to stay a babe in the wilderness. His goal is for you to be a warrior in the Promised Land.
Want to avoid the trap door? Grow. Go after more. Be intentional about being in the presence of the Lord. It can’t help but change you.

NORMAL CHRISTIANITY
I Am infinite. Just when you think you understand My ways, I come to you in a way you’ve never experienced before. Seek Me. You will find Me in new, refreshing ways.
NORMAL CHRISTIANITYIt’s so life-giving to see Jesus. That’s why you need to seek Him. Anything Jesus shows you is so intentional because He can look any way He wants to look. He can show up to you in any number of ways.
Earlier this year I had a vision and since that encounter, everything in my life has gone up. Everything has. The anointing that’s in my life, my ability to preach, my ability to pray, my ability to stay focused – things have been accelerated.
This is what I can tell you about this vision of the Lord Jesus Christ: I was aware of how intentional He was about what He wanted to show me about His character.
Because He’s not subject to time, gravity, age – He’s not subject to anything – He can show up however He needs to get your attention. However He looks to you is exactly the way He’s trying to show you something.
And I was so blown away with the Lord and how He got His message across to me. I don’t tell everybody my dreams and visions, but can I tell you this: if it’s in the Bible but it’s not in your life, there’s a problem with that.
Dreams, visions, and prophetic words are a huge part of the Bible, as are signs, miracles, and wonders. If you’re not walking in these things, you could be running with the wrong crowd. They are are part of normal Christianity.
So when Jesus shows up in a vision and He’s looking like a king, He’s giving you a message about dominion and letting Him rule and reign over an area of your life. If He shows up like a lamb, He’s talking to you about laying down something in your life for the betterment of others. Get my drift here?
How is God showing up in your life? When you read His word, does something jump off the page or make your baby leap? Can you picture it in your head or does the Lord bring you a dream or a vision to back it up? If not, that’s not normal. Find your tribe of drop-dead, sold-out Jesus freaks and get with the right crowd – the people going after more of Jesus.
“If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you…” – John 15:7

HAVE A PURSUIT GOD CAN BLESS?
There is nowhere you follow Me that I Am not present in all My glory and power. I will supply every need you face along the way. Walk after Me knowing I Am for you. Fear not. It is My pleasure to give you the Kingdom.
HAVE A PURSUIT GOD CAN BLESS?God blesses pursuit. That statement can absolutely change your life. It is only as we are following Him that we understand God blesses pursuit. Jesus has called us to follow Him, to trust Him.
Who has complained their way into an upgrade? You don’t pursue by sitting on your butt and griping. You can’t complain, gripe, moan, or pity yourself into an upgrade. It will never work. Following means getting up and believing God Almighty has something for you.
Yeah, you’re probably going to make some mistakes and that’s OK. The worst thing in the world is not for you to make mistakes, but for you to do nothing. Jesus defined the person who plays it safe and stays on the couch as a “wicked and lazy servant.” He wasn’t willing to take a risk. The reason he refused to take the risk is because he didn’t trust the Master. He accused the Master of being different than He actually was!
How is it that you and I can qualify to know King Jesus in a greater way than others do? We qualify because we’re willing to follow Him where other people are not willing to. You can say you love Jesus all you want, but I can tell if you love Jesus by whether or not you’re laying down your life and following Him. Amen.
Following is so important. We need to learn how to follow. It’s what qualifies us for greatness. It teaches us how to trust Him. It’s in following Him we see the goodness of God.
“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me, for whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” – Matthew 16:24-25
We have the choice today to keep our eyes on Jesus – to follow Him or sit on the couch in fear of the risk. He is good. Trust and follow.

GROW UP
I sent manna to provide for you. I will also equip you to deal with upgrade. Grow in our relationship, teach others how to seek me. Remember, upgrade is not always easy, but it’s always better.
GROW UPThere came a time when the manna ceased for the Israelite people. A scary place to be, yet quite the opportunity! Such a powerful place. I know that place. I’ve been there. I would encourage you in the name of Jesus to press forward as soon as that manna ceases.
As soon as you upgrade in covenant, it’s time to move away from being a baby who has to be taken care of. That’s what the ceasing of the manna is about.
The next thing that happens is God will highlight a walled city – a fortress within your life that seems unmovable. It’s like a malignant tumor within your life and it’s something you need to pull down.
God Almighty will say, “I want you now to march around that thing because you own it. I want you to shout like the warrior you are! He will tell you I’m going to cause the walls to fall down and I’m going to get rid of that place and that place will never exist again, except for how you rebuild it and how you own it.”
There’s so much victory in that!
“For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child.” – Hebrews 5:12-13
I can almost hear the author of Hebrews yelling, “Grow up!” Let’s stop nursing on the milk and get some meat in our lives. Amen.

YOU ARE THE CHURCH
I get so excited with every upgrade you go after. Each step forward is a step closer to the great big destiny I designed for you. I made you to transform and to encourage others to go after their destiny and identity in Me.
YOU ARE THE CHURCHChurch is a strange animal and it’s not for everyone, though Jesus is for everyone, Amen. Truth be told, in the 23 years I’ve never felt like I should be the pastor of a church – never. I’ve dealt with this constant feeling you’re all going to find out what a knucklehead I really am.
I don’t like hanging out with other pastors. I never feel like I belong with them. I just never do. The first five or six years I led this church, I wouldn’t even let anyone call me “Pastor Troy.” By business card even said “OpenDoor Church, Troy Brewer, Co-Pastor.”
I had no idea who the other pastor was, but I was sure somebody legit was going to show up and take over. I’ve had to battle some big insecurity over my hillbilly accent and the fact I have zero education whatsoever. I’ve also had to overcome my past because I grew up where I preach and those people know what a rotten kid I was.
How would you like to pastor a church where you raised nine kinds of hell every single day of your life until you got saved? All that’s behind me since May of 1986. Amen.
With that said, I know many of you feel the same way. You may not be the pastor, but coming to church is hard. Getting saved is so great, but getting plugged into a church can be downright painful – especially if people there know you – the old you.
The religious devils among us do not buy into transformation. They will never forget the old you and they make a point of reminding you of your history. They don’t want to see you change and will hold you back. That’s not God. God never reminds you of your history. He’s all about destiny.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-5
God, who is love, keeps no record of wrongs and my friend, we need to be just like Jesus. We need to let people change and, as drop-dead, sold-out Jesus freaks, we need to help them progress and transform.
Let’s, you and I, be different. Let’s bring the Kingdom of heaven to earth and speak life, identity and destiny over each other, especially those new to the faith. And don’t do it because you’re at church. Do it because you are the church.
