Super Spooky Edition of Music Video Monday!

We often perceive wisdom as something that is earned over the years, and is solely determined by how old a person is. Anne Frank is an excellent example of the meaning behind this adage.
"The Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank is commonly read as part of classroom curricula all over the nation. Between the ages of 13 and 15, she kept a journal while her family was holed up in a hidden annex to avoid being captured by Nazis during the Holocaust. Her incredibly mature insights and sophisticated writing style are still met with praise, even after all these years. It would seem as though wisdom is a truly timeless virtue, one that all women inherently possess.

This week's pick is "U Can't Touch This" by M.C. Hammer! This song speaks to being a unique individual. Hammer has created a beat other rappers cannot "touch" because it is so out of this world. But he declines to take all the credit: "'Oh, My Lord' / Thank you for blessing me / With a mind to rhyme and two hype feet." We should take this as a cue to think about all the things we can be grateful for in our own lives.
Lyrics are so important when selecting songs to listen to. Our subconscious absorbs the messages in music even when we are not actively listening. Each week, we suggest a different song that is aligned with promoting positive vibrations. We hope you enjoy this week's fun-loving selection. The DIY Writer's Checklist
The most common mistake new authors make is to go at this process completely alone. As talented as we all are, we are not capable of acting as writer, proofreader, editor, publicist, and publisher to our own projects. For one thing, it is virtually impossible to proofread your own work. There are bound to be discrepancies between how your prose sounds in your own mind, and how it reads to your audience. This may be because we are all too familiar with our own "voice." Our speech patterns may not translate as well to the written page as we would like to think. Nothing solves this problem better than getting help from a qualified individual or established enterprise. Ultimately, there is a reason why publishing a book is a team effort.

Make any suggested changes if they resonate with you.Hire a professional editor who can turn the book into what it needs to be: a finished, publishable, marketable product.
