Recognize Love

There are people in our
lives who love us unconditionally who we may overlook, and taking the time to recognize
those who love us unconditionally can be life-saving. Dr. Joseph Shrand tells
the story of his own discovery of unconditional love from his wife, after years
of studying to become a doctor in his essay selected for "Love Like God: Embracing Unconditional Love."

"No matter how hard I
worked, medical school or medicine would never give me a hug. But, Carol
would," Dr. Shrand said. "Carol would always
give me a hug. And, even as I strove to be a doctor, I was in jeopardy of
doing great harm, abandoning a love
from which I had grown for almost a decade."

In her book "Love Like God: Embracing Unconditional Love," bestselling author Caroline A. Shearer has culminated essays from some of America's most generous
unconditional lovers to tell their own tales of the path to unconditional love.

Self Love

Kristen Moeller teaches us
that no matter what conditions we find ourselves in, or what obstacles our personal
lives face, we always deserve our own love. "Unconditional love is just
that—love without conditions,"
Moeller said in "Love Like God: Embracing Unconditional Love." "It's love to ourselves, even when we fail, when
we hurt, when we are joyful, when we struggle, when we are cruel, when we are
kind, when we are at the top, when we are in the gutter."

Bestselling author Caroline A. Shearer explains that choosing positive thoughts and recognizing the sanctity
of our soul helps us embrace unconditional love for ourselves. "Recognizing
that the approval we most need in the world is our own is life-changing," said
Shearer. The author of "Love Like God" and the founder of Absolute Love Publishing,
Shearer chooses positive and supportive thoughts for herself each day and
encourages others to find the same unconditional love for themselves.

Family Is Love

In her essay featured in "Love Like God: Embracing Unconditional Love," Shirley W. Mitchell tells her personal story of
unconditional love flowing through the bloodlines of her family and her own
personal path of learning how to love unconditionally. Mitchell shares her own
stories of loving her parents, grandparents, and grandchildren unconditionally
and her personal growth because of this love.

"Family bonds often provide
our strongest examples of unconditional love," said bestselling author Caroline A. Shearer. "When we are blessed with this in our lives, it gives us confidence in
our own pursuits and the ability to pass the example of unconditional love on
to further generations."

Every Fiber of Our Being Is Love

Love is not just an
emotional feeling trapped in our chests, or an external action. Love is more
than a feeling. "It is an awareness of
ourselves and of others. It is inclusive rather an exclusive,"
said Diana
Harris, initiative counselor and metaphysical teacher, in her essay featured in
"Love Like God: Embracing Unconditional Love."

There are times when love is
viewed as a "search." The external search for love is projected by the media as
the singular path to finding love. "What we discover on that external search is
that love is inside of us and always has been inside of us," said Caroline A. Shearer, bestselling author of "Love Like God."

We Are Called to Love

"When actions occur that
seem to challenge our sense of what is good in the world, we have a choice
where to put our focus," said Caroline A. Shearer, bestselling author of "Love Like God: Embracing Unconditional Love." "The knowledge that good can come from all, that
good is in all, helps us make that choice."

 In Lisa Gibson's essay,
featured in "Love Like God: Embracing Unconditional Love," Gibson explains the
importance of forgiveness through love. When her brother was killed on Pan Am
Flight 103, on his way home on leave from the Army, Gibson initially was filled
with anger. Beginning with writing a letter of forgiveness to the man convicted
of the bombing, Gibson eventually was able to forgive her brother's attacker
and later met Muammar Gaddafi on a mission to promote goodwill and service.
