Knowing What I Do Know

by Ava Cuvay

Happy Wednesday, Wranglers!

We had decided to blog monthly instead of weekly in hopes it would provide us the respite to fill our blog space with more knowledge, wisdom, wit, emotional impact, etc… I can’t speak for the other gals, but mine seem to be just as much “oh, crud, what the heck am I going to talk about?” as ever.
On the plus side, I’ve been writing more.
Notice that I said “writing” and did not choose the verb “publishing.” Yep, I’m still “writing,” “editing,” “tweaking,...

Happy Fourth!

by Margie Senechal

I had a hard time deciding what to write about--should I go sentimental, political, nothing at all to do with the fourth?

Growing up as a Navy kid and the granddaughter of two WWII soldiers, patriotic holidays were always celebrated. We had a family BBQ on the Fourth, as dusk arrived, Dad would do our meager supply of fireworks--screaming petes, twirly things, and usually a big cone of something. Then we climbed up on Grandma and Grandpa's roof to watch the firew...

The Slippery Street

Photo by Paul Gilmore on Unsplash"art is more than a product of your efforts - it should be about feeling, life, attitude, soul..." ~Sergio Bongart

I love this quote, and it seems to me to go with the picture over here. Because it's all about frame of mind. If you focus on the long, slippery, empty road, it's a rainy day...but if you focus on the sky, you can see the sun beginning to break through the clouds, the lushness of the green grass and trees, and you can see that the da...

Drenched to the bone.

And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone. - Bob Dylan, from "The Times They Are A-Changin' "
Nan and I talked about change yesterday. She’s pretty adaptable to it—at least when compared to her husband Jim, who hates all change. And compared to me—I only hate most of it.
I did, after all, learn to type with only one space after a period after having used two spaces for 40-some years. I do, after all, change my hair color at least once a year, sometimes twice. I’ve learned not t...

Half Year Check In @JanaRichards_

So back in January, I had some pretty big plans for 2018. I’d chosen “determination” as my word of the year, and I was determined to get a lot done, in a lot of areas of my life.

On the writing front, I planned to self-publish my three-book series, submit another completed book and proposed series to a publisher, start a new project, and perhaps continue with a series I began a while ago and got stuck on. I’m not doing too badly. I released my self-published series, Love at Solace Lake, in Mar...

First of all, thank you so much for having me here today! I’m excited to be here, chatting about my writing life. There are a few things that I need when I get down to the business of writing, aside from inspiration, perseverance, and time.

1.     I need quiet to write. I know a...

A Small Summer To-Do List

By Ava Cuvay

So school is out for Summer in my neck of the woods. And as I’m a substitute teacher, I’m out of
work (in a manner of speaking) for the next couple months. This time last year, I was unemployed and taking advantage of the time to play, lunch with friends, and (most importantly) write.

Welllll….. the playing and lunching with friends definitely happened in mass quantities, but not so much with the writing. Water under the bridge, but I’m hoping to be more realistic with my plans for...
