End to a Wilkinson Tradition

On Saturday, my heart will break a little when Myrtle's Tea House and Herbery closes her doors to afternoon teas as the owner, Elizabeth, enters a new and exciting venture.
But, before that happens, I wanted to share how Myrtle's helped heal our family.
In March of 2009, we lost our father unexpectedly. Well, as unexpected as you can considering he was a diabetic who'd had triple by-pass over twenty years before.

Getting Into the Habit ~ @AuthorKristina Knight

One thing I've learned over time: it's much easier to learn a bad habit than it is a good one. I think because the bad habits can be so fun - I mean, who doesn't want to spend a day in the pool rather than at the office? Who doesn't want another slice of Chocolate Decadance or...

WITH LOVE, FOREVER
It was back in the 1990s that Kensington had an imprint called Precious Gems. The books sold only at Walmart for less than two dollars a copy. Always Annie was my first book ever and still a precious memory. Twenty-some years later, many of the "Gems in the Attic" are still writing. Our first sampler is out and free. We hope you enjoy it!
My contribution is the first chapter of The Gingerbread Heart, from 2015's A Heartwarming Christmas.

Love is worth the risk…
When their grandfather dies, the Lindquist sisters, Harper, Scarlet and Maggie, inherit the northern Minnesota fishing lodge that had been in their family for three generations. The inheritance is bittersweet. They were raised at the lodge by their grandparents. A NEIGHBORLY DAY
We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say “It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.”
Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes. - Mr. Rogers
#thanksmrrogersI've had an up-and-down few years. It started with the election in 2016 and things have been...well, up and down ever since. Thankfully, things are mostly up these days, but I'm still treading lightly. However, even with learning to type...

It’s Never Too Late
The Wranglers welcome Laurel Sparks-Sellers today.

Workforce career completed…CHECK. Marriage for third time, and right time…CHECK. Healing from family lost: both loving parents, and now a sister/best friend…CHECK. Learn to live without children or grandchildren…CHECK.
OK, I could add to this list, but I’m digressing away from this writing article.
Because my history started long ago, most of it included snippets of creati...

Knowing What I Do Know
by Ava Cuvay
Happy Wednesday, Wranglers!
We had decided to blog monthly instead of weekly in hopes it would provide us the respite to fill our blog space with more knowledge, wisdom, wit, emotional impact, etc… I can’t speak for the other gals, but mine seem to be just as much “oh, crud, what the heck am I going to talk about?” as ever.
On the plus side, I’ve been writing more.
Notice that I said “writing” and did not choose the verb “publishing.” Yep, I’m still “writing,” “editing,” “tweaking,...

Happy Fourth!

I had a hard time deciding what to write about--should I go sentimental, political, nothing at all to do with the fourth?
Growing up as a Navy kid and the granddaughter of two WWII soldiers, patriotic holidays were always celebrated. We had a family BBQ on the Fourth, as dusk arrived, Dad would do our meager supply of fireworks--screaming petes, twirly things, and usually a big cone of something. Then we climbed up on Grandma and Grandpa's roof to watch the firew...
