Good News Galore!

.
This week at Word Wranglers we've been bursting with good news. Here's mine:

You may have noticed that my blog went up way later than usual. I haven't had a spare second in days to write. I've spent the last few days with family that I haven't seen in years. Some of them, I've never met.  The reason we came together was for a sad occasion. There was a death in the family. But we had a fabulous time together, getting to know each other all over again. We all exchanged stories about...

Look, The Sun and Other Good News

Part of finding Good News is the ability to look for it. Since I don't have any earth-shattering news to share I went in seach of it.

Today started out in sunshine. Big yellow ball in the sky. Yay!

My flowers are loving it. And many are in full bloom. My beloved honeysuckles are erupting and fill the air with a sweetness. Who needs air-freshners when you have honeysuckle outside the front door?

My wildflowers are well, pretty damn wild.

Here's a hint: Don't scatter foxglove seed...

News? You Want News?

So you want a little good news, hmmm? Well, Liz did set up the week this way, didn't she?

Let's see...our deck project, the one that didn't seem like it would ever be done is...well, done. After starting and stopping multiple times because of inspector issues and weather issues and then more inspector issues and then a car accident that stopped our contractor from doing anything...And I think it turned out quite well. I can't wait for the weather to really warm up so we can eat outside, and en...

Happy Anniversay, Me!

Yesterday, Liz said it was Good News Week here on the Wranglers. Not only did I get to quit my retail job of six years to write full time, (yay!) it's my anniversary! Not my wedding anniversary. It's my author anniversary! One year ago today, my first book was published by Crimson Romance! That was a very special day because my road to publication was especially long. I wrote for TWENTY years before I got the email that said we want your book. I was ALWAYS the bridesmaid, not the...

It's good news week!

That was the title of a song when I was in high school. Don't remember the song, just the title. But Good News is abounding among the Wranglers this week. For me personally, not much in my writing life is new, but the hero and I are going to Florida to spend a week with some of our favorite people and my kids who live in Vermont are moving back to Indiana. That means two more of my grandkids will be within squeezing distance, a happy thing. A good news thing. Oh, and it's June. I love June!...

Bliss

Yesterday I was reading People Magazine and their back page feature is Five Questions With---this week it was with Justin Bartha--who I've enjoyed since the National Treasure movies. Seriously, waiting for number three.

Back to the magazine--his last question was, "When was the last time you experienced a moment of Bliss?"

What a great question! Just the idea of a blissful moment.

When my girls were younger and I did daycare for a living, bliss was warm bubble bath with a good book. The peace, t...

What do you read?(

I'm puny today, so I'm not going to subject you to any soliloquies on my sore throat or even on how I feel about writing, but I do have a question for you.

I've been on the love seat for a while, sniffling and drinking liquids and reading. It occurred to me, as I read a Candace Hern book (liked it very much but it was longer than I thought it should be and I skimmed over some of it--my apologies to the author; she deserves better than me as a reader) and delved into Alicia Rasley's Charity Beg...

Just Put Your Lips Together and Blow

What is it about famous lines that made them famous? There are tons of them. "Kiss me, you fool." Why do those words stick in our minds? Of course, some of them got a little messed up over the years. For example, Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca never said "Play it again, Sam," The actual line was, "Play it, Sam."

One of my favorites was Lauren Bacall in To Have and Have Not. "You know how to whistle don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow." Then there are the m...

Lessons in Reading

A couple of weeks ago, I shared that I'd been a reading kick--still kicking and reading. And writing. But I wanted to share some lessons I've learned through reading recently.

A) I don't want to be judged for something I did or who I was when I was a teenager. I've read a couple of romances that hinge on a mistake the hero made as a teenager. Ditching the girl at the prom and showing up ten years later or letting his rich family bash his girl and call her a money-hungry slut.

Sure. These are ho...
