Enchant Me

by Margie Senechal

We talk a lot about inspiration on this blog. Kristi loves her playlists--creating one for each project. And while I usually find one or two songs that sort of fit my work-in-progress, I never find an entire playlist.

I'm more of a visual person, anyway. When the girls were little and got stuck on a word, I couldn't tell them what it was by having them read it to me--I had to look at it. "Wait until we come to a red light." Because for some reason, they always got stuck on a...

My Favorite Places

I'm working like crazy right now, but I figure a blog about editing might not be all that fascinating; however that's mostly what's in my head right now. Otherwise, I’ve been thinking lately about places I love--mostly because I'm planning a writing trip to one of them. So rather than talking about syntax and subject-verb agreement and passive versus active voice, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite places with you.  I’d love to hear about places you love, so share in the comments,...

"I'm younger than that now..."

    by Liz Flaherty
I was 13 when the Beatles came to America and to the Ed Sullivan Show to nestle into the hearts of so many of us. I bought all their records and tried to grow my frizzy brown hair out long, straight, and sleek. I sat through A Hard Day’s Night at least 10 times, but I never got to go to a concert. I was, in the vernacular of the day, a Beatlemaniac.          That left me sometime after the White Alb...

A little of this....

by Margie Senechal

I'm sitting here with my back to the television and listening to The Today Show. Matt and his guest--I didn't get the name right away--are talking politics, and I'm thinking, "Norm McDonald is talking politics with Matt?" Because that's who it sounded like. Ends up it was Howard Dean--which makes way more sense.

Yep, this is one of those Thursdays when I haven't an idea of what to share with you.

So, I'm taking Louis' advice and just writing, it will come.

 Ar...

#WriterWednesday: Geek Gear To Get You Motivated

I'm waving my geek flag like a crazy lady lately. We've covered how I like my tech from e-readers to smartphones to tablets...but I've found a few new techie tools lately that I really, really love...so I thought I'd share them with you all today because they all have a little bit of a writer bent.

First, my new TomTom - it's the MultiSport, and it's a fitness watch. It tracks my distance running, cycling, swimming...monitors my heart rate, gives me a calorie count and feeds right in to the My...

I'm not seeing the money...

by Liz Flaherty

Let me start off by sending you somewhere else-- http://mainecriewriters.com/kates-posts/can-you-afford-to-get-published

In case you didn't go, the link is to a wonderful post by mystery writer Kate Flora. I read it this morning before my tea was even hot and have been thinking about it as I drank. Can I afford to be published?

I don't know the answer yet.

I know that I have had books published whose earnings didn't pay for the conference I attended that particular year.

I kno...

Another AGH Moment

 By Margie Senechal

On the eve of attending the Willamette Writer's Conference, my new business cards arrived.

They have the new title of my Bix book along with my name and not RG Senechal which I had considered using for quite a while.

See the picture to your left or wherever it ends up?

Well, look at the address. Yep, apparently I didn't proofread so well. I live on 83nd Avenue. I don't even know how to begin to say that. We tried last night. I think it's an impossibility. Just for t...
