It’s the Sh! Christmas Pleasure Hunt!!
Over the past few years I’ve been lucky enough to be invited to read my wares at the wonderful Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporium on many occasions, so I’m delighted to be able to take part in their prize winning treasure hunt!
In case you haven’t been playing already, here’s the drill!-
From Friday 7th until Monday 10th December (tomorrow), twelve erotica authors will be secreting pieces of information on their blog posts. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to follow the trail, collect this info and enter a draw to win all kinds of awesome stuff!
Authors playing along are: Janine Ashbless, Justine Elyot, Kay Jaybee, KD Grace, Lexie Bay, Lily Harlem, Lucy Felthouse, Remittance Girl, Sommer Marsden, Tabitha Rayne, Tamsin Flowers, Victoria Blisse
The aim of the game is to find a word from the following Kate Bush lyric in a post from each of our participating authors:
Come to sparkle the dark up …Come to cover the muck up
That word will link to a sexy Sh! product. Check out the link, note down the price. At the end of the hunt, add up all 12 prices you’ve collected. That total is your answer!
There will be three posts per day- each will link to the three authors who’ll be posting the following day.
After Monday, email your answer (the total price of all linked products) to Sh! (renee@sh-womenstore.com). All correct answers will go into a draw. One lucky winner gets a bumper bag of goodies from Sh!
Thirteen runners up will receive a book (print or digital) from one of the authors on board (I’ll be providing a copy of my latest novel, Making Him Wait, pub- Sweetmeats Press).
If you want to start the Pleasure Hunt from the beginning, or want to read more about the rules, then head off to Kristina Lloyd’s site, and follow the links to the next three authors. (Huge thanks to Kristina for organising all this!)
Don’t forget to check out today’s other author’s, Tabitha Rayne and Lily Harlem, and then tomorrow’s authors- the wondrous trio of KD Grace, Lucy Felthouse, and Lexie Bay!!
Don’t forget to look out for the hidden word in the following blog!!
****
Getting involved in this pleasure treasure hunt has made me think about all the books that I’ve read at the Hoxton shop over the years!
The first time I went to read there I was SO frightened- the nerves were hammering in my chest as if I’d run a marathon (which will never happen!), I had sweaty palms, a swirling stomach and a huge case of stage fright- right until I began to read, and then I was fine- and quickly addicted!!!
Since that first reading, I have had the joy of sharing many books with the good folk of London, including these…
Which has been my favourite to read from? Well, as you can imagine, I love them all, so a favoured story is impossible to choose- but of all the stories I have read at Sh so far- this one has my favourite cover-
I’ll sign off now and leave you to puzzle over your pleasure hunt…good luck…

Guest Blog with Ashley Lister- Dragon Desire: Quest for Satisfaction
I’m delighted to welcome to my blog today the multi-talented Ashley Lister! Writer of the Dead Good Blog, ERWA supremo, poet, and the man behind the pen of his alter ego, Lisette Ashton!! Over to you Ash…
According to Chinese astrology, this has been the year of the dragon. Perhaps that was at the back of my mind when I began writing Dragon Desire: Quest for Satisfaction.
This story was written under my pseudonym Lisette Ashton. It’s a story set in a pre-medieval Britain and I have to admit it was a lot of fun to write. I got to research lots of fun stuff for historical accuracy, I got to research an enormous amount of magic and mythology, and I got to learn a lot about dragons.
Dragons are supremely interesting.
I learnt about Wessex wyvern and the lesser-known sea-wyvern. I learnt about Polish smok and the Ljubljana dragon of Slovenia. I studied texts on Portuguese cacoa and Catalonian víbria. I learnt the difference between five-toed Chinese dragons, four-toed Korean dragons and three-toed Japanese dragons. I also read up on the crypto-zoological history of Y Ddraig Goch – the Welsh red dragon.
“How interesting,” I can hear you yawn. “It sounds so erotic. NOT.”
But the maddening thing is: dragons are unexpectedly erotic.
Like sexual urges, they represent something primal. Like arousal and intimacy, they come to life from our shared fantasies and are made real by our boldest flights of imagination.
You might be a reader who sympathises with the distressed damsel who is bound and possessed by a metaphorical beast. You might be a reader who empathises with the heroic dragon slayer who delivers a lethal penetration with his massive broadsword. Or you might simply be a vicarious reader who enjoys seeing these two extremes of character enjoying their moment on the page and heading toward an inevitable resolution.
Whichever dynamic you favour, it’s hard to argue that the involvement of a noble yet dangerous dragon symbolises something strong and powerful and irresistibly sexy.
These are the opening pages from Dragon Desire: Quest for Satisfaction, by Lisette Ashton.
“Dragon horn!” declared Robert of Moon Valley. He said the words the way a court conjurer might whisper voila before triumphantly unveiling the effects of his stage magicks. There was a broad grin across his handsome features. His leer of devilish anticipation sparkled.
“Dragon horn?”
Tavia and Caitrin asked the question in unison.
Tavia and Caitrin were twin daughters to Duncan, castellan of Blackheath. The young women were famed throughout the fiefdom for their complementary beauty. Although their faces were identical, Tavia’s tresses were as fair as a unicorn’s pelt, whilst Caitrin’s locks were as dark as raven wings. Both women were of age, chaste and desired by every able man in the fiefdom of Blackheath.
Tavia took a wary step back toward the chamber door.
Caitrin made an eager step toward the crystal carafe. It stood surrounded by three silver goblets on a ceremonial tray beside the four-poster bed.
“Dragon horn?” Caitrin marvelled. “Are you serious? Where did you find it?”
“Are you tempted?” Robert asked.
“Dragon horn has been forbidden by the castellan,” Tavia whispered. “There shouldn’t be a drop of that stuff in this shire.”
“Is it true what it can do?” Caitrin’s eyes sparkled as she switched her gaze from Robert to the carafe. She was ignoring her sister, mesmerised by the temptation on offer. “Is everything I’ve heard about dragon horn true?”
“What have you heard?”
As he spoke he lifted the carafe and splashed a gill of the golden liquid into each of the three waiting goblets. He didn’t need Caitrin to reiterate the legends that were associated with dragon horn. He knew all of them and had made up many more. Nevertheless, he longed to listen to her whisper all the salacious rumours about the reputed benefits of the drink. There were few things more arousing than the voice of a chaste woman talking about illicit sex.
“I’ve heard that the sight can melt the clothes from a maiden’s bosom,” Caitrin breathed. “I’ve heard the smell can wring woman’s oil from her petticoats. I’ve heard the taste can fire a princess with such a wanton lust she’d happily rut with slaves and stable lads.”
“Caitrin!” Tavia gasped. “Where have you heard such things?”
Caitrin wasn’t listening. She had taken a step closer to the goblet. Her nostrils flared as she drank deep lungfuls of air with the obvious hope of inhaling the drink’s forbidden aroma.
“I’ve heard that dragon horn can spark a fire within a woman’s nether regions that is so strong it could melt iron – a fire so constant it makes her thighs sweat rivers.”
“I’ve also heard that,” Robert admitted. He smiled and said, “I’ve seen that.”
She gave him a sideways glance. Her eyes had grown wide. “I’ve heard that a taste of dragon horn can harden a healthy man’s hardness and lengthen his longing.”
Robert laughed. He used the heel of one hand to rub at his hip. “I have also experienced that,” he agreed. “And it is a formidable sight.”
Caitrin stepped closer. Her fingers stretched out toward a goblet. “I’ve heard that it heightens the pleasure of the flesh to a degree that makes every other pleasure seem false and flat and as stale as week-old beggar bread.”
“And I’ve heard that none of this is true,” Tavia sniffed.
Robert and Caitrin studied her in silence. Caitrin’s fingers fell away from the goblet she had been about to take.
“I’ve heard that these rumours are nothing more than the lies of rogues and fairy-wing traders,” Tavia said tartly. “I’ve heard that the effects of dragon horn are only the self-fulfilling prophecies of idiots and the wilfully deluded.”
Caitrin looked set to respond but Robert silenced her by raising his hand. Instead of arguing with Tavia he nodded agreement.
“If that’s the case, would you care to take a sip?”
She stepped boldly up to him and snatched a goblet from the ceremonial tray.
Caitrin gasped.
“I’ll take more than a sip,” Tavia said. She swallowed the contents in one mouthful. Hurling the goblet to a corner of the room she said, “And I’ll now go and report to my father the castellan that you were trying to seduce his daughters with an outlawed drink.”
Robert said nothing.
Caitrin reached out to grab her sister’s arm but Tavia was too quick for her. She was walking toward the doorway of the tower room with a determined stride.
“Tavia,” her sister called.
“The castellan is not known for his leniency toward lawbreakers,” Tavia said over her shoulder. “Branding? Imprisonment? Banishment? Hanging? Which do you think he will suggest for a man who tries to tempt his chaste daughters with the dubious promise of outlawed dragon horn?”
“Tavia,” Caitrin pleaded. “Don’t tell father. Please. For our sake. For the sake of the fiefdom. This could ruin our reputations. It could ruin everything.”
Tavia stopped stock still.
She turned slowly to study Robert and Caitrin. There was an expression on her face that Caitrin had never seen before. Tavia studied Robert with a gaze that lingered between loathing and loving.
“Did you enjoy your drink?” he asked.
She rushed at him.
Pushing him backward toward the padding of the cushions on the four-poster, Tavia devoured Robert’s face with kisses that looked as carnal and avaricious as anything that could be witnessed in the shire’s farmyards. She tore at his clothes. Her painted nails clawed to reach his manliness. His tunic was rent from his shoulders exposing a broad, manly chest. Tavia straddled him as he lay on the bed.
She writhed her groin against his loins.
“Take me,” she insisted. “Take me and then take me again.”
Dragon Desire: Quest for Satisfaction, by Lisette Ashton, will be available from December 20th.
Thanks ever so much for coming to visit today Ashley. As I long time lover of dragons, I can’t wait to read this one!

The Collector Blog Tour!!
My very first solo work of erotica, The Collector, has been re-launched!
It has a wonderful new cover, and is sneaking it’s way onto the shelves of loads of new book and e-book stockists!
I am delighted to announce, that The Collector and I are off on a blog tour over the next four days! I would love it if you’d come and join me.
As ever, I will be keeping an eye on all your comments, and the one I like the best will win a prize- a poster signed by yours truly!
The Collector, which previously looked like this-
- is a collection of 21 different erotic stories, all of which have been gathered up and recorded by a young female, whose hobby is recording the erotic adventures of others!
Blurb-
The Collector sits silently alone, engrossed in her tales of lust, submission and dominance. Has she already engraved your erotic exploits on her salacious list?
She may look like she is scribbling randomly in her notebook, but she is secretly listening to, and recording, the overheard fantasies and indiscretions of others.
Forever hungry for stories, when The Collector’s sources run dry, her appetite for tales of instruction and voyeurism drives her to do some research of her own before sharing her provocative experiments on paper.
It is time for the world’s raunchiest chronicler to come to light.
*****
If you’d like to buy The Collector (Austin & Macauley, 2008/ 2nd ed 2012) , it is available from Amazon UK, Amazon.com, Manic Readers, and other good paperback and e-stockists.

Cover Story- Meet Rachel! Sweetmeats Press Cover Artist
Today I have a very special blog for you- an interview with Rachel, the woman behind the stunning cover art work for the erotica publishers, Sweetmeats Press!
Hi Rachel, thanks ever so much for joining me on my web site today. I’ve been fascinated with your work at Sweetmeats Press ever since you produced the totally gorgeous cover for my latest novel, Making Him Wait. Can you give us a rough idea what your job involves?
Firstly, hello and thanks for asking me to talk to you about what I get up to over at Sweetmeats Press.
My job seems to have grown over time to involve many more avenues, which is really exciting and means no two days at the office are the same. But basically I’m in charge of all the art, design and web at Sweetmeats Press. The main areas I tend to concentrate on are book/ebook covers, layout of paperbacks/ebooks and the website. It is really important that we only produce a quality product, and therefore I have to reflect this through all my work. I make sure that from the front and back covers, to the layout of each page everything is done with love and care.
It is also nice that as a company we put getting it right over volume, so I know I always have the time to change and alter what I don’t like. In the long run we believe this ethos will give the product and the brand longevity in a throw away society.
It is a sadly rare phenomenon for a publishing house to actually make sure a book’s cover shot match the story within. The last two novels that have come out of the Sweetmeats stable all feature your work. I thought I might be fun to find out what made you choose the pictures you did for Making Him Wait…
I’ve actually designed all the book covers at Sweetmeats Press, and I have learnt so much along the way and from one book to the next. It was really hard in the beginning for me to find the line between representing the genre and designing something customers were not too embarrassed to take to the counter. With the very first cover I think I was too discreet, but it’s been a learning curve. It is also very different designing the cover of a novel compared to an anthology. With a novel it is a bespoke design for one story, but with an anthology you blend the cover to the theme.
For Making Him Wait as with all covers, I went through a few different designs before I settled on the final version. I always start by reading all or part of the book to get a feel of the style, themes and characters. Then I pick out what I believe sums up the book for potential readers. For MHW it was painting, BDSM and tease. My first attempt was a canvas painting of a naked Sara, the canvas was lent against a wall and spot lit with handcuffs discarded in front of it. I decided it was too busy and although it portrayed the painting and BDSM aspects it didn’t portray tease, a very important theme. So after many variations I came up with the final version, a beautiful tease I think. The book cover has become the canvas and Sara is drawn in charcoal. I feel as observers we are all waiting and watching for her next move. How long will she tease us for? Will she lower the zip just a little more? How long will she make us wait? It’s simple yet effective, which are often the best designs.
And Named and Shamed, by Janine Ashbless?
Janine’s cover was really interesting for me to do, and probably the most difficult. Again I read the book and the overwhelming theme that struck me was an erotic fairytale full of magic and monsters. I also looked at the style and tones of fantasy books and felt the covers worked as a doorway into this underworld of magic and mystery.
It is probably best to explain to you what I see when I look at Janine’s cover. In the background there is a brightly lit city, and that represents safety, that is where she should head for. But Tansy the protagonist is looking away from the city with a mischievous half smile. The cover is all about what Tansy is looking away from the safety of the city at, and what the tentacle is pulling her into. I was really happy with the model I chose for this cover; I think she is a great representation of busty Tansy. I hope this cover portrays a dark and dirty fairytale with hints of what is in store for the reader.
Can you give us a sneaky peep as to what Sweetmeats Press has in store for us next?
The next book on the list is 7 Deadly Sins, and then next year we have 3 books lined up for the start of the year, 1 novel and 2 anthologies. There are more in the pipeline but they still have to be firmed up. So lots more books for me to get my teeth stuck into and lots of website updates to get out. But before all that, and far more importantly, there is mine and my partner’s birthdays as well as Christmas and New Year, so lots of celebrating and deserved relaxing after a very busy year.
Many thanks Rachel! I hope you and your partner have a wonderful birthday, not to mention Christmas and New Year! I’d like to extend a personal thanks to you for taking the time to do this interview for me today, and for creating me such a very beautful cover- I love Making Him Wait very much.

The Next Big Thing!
Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog today, which is giving itself over to the Blog Hop- The Next Best Thing!
The incredible erotica writing machine that is Janine Ashbless invited me to answer a handful of questions about my work in progress. These same questions will then get passed on to more writers (see below)- thus there is a host of information awaiting you on a wide variety of blog sites! What better way to meet new authors, or see what your favourite authors are cooking up next?
Let’s get started!!
What is the working title of your book?
Digging Deep
Where did the idea come from for the book?
When I was a fresh faced 19 year old student, I studied archaeology. I had so much fun! One of the digs I worked on was in Tunisia. Here we (students from my UK university, and another university from the US), excavated an Ancient Roman City called Lepti Minus, and field walked the olive groves that surrounded it.

Mosaic from Lepti Minus
Simply saying we had a lot of ‘experiences’ doesn’t do those months under the extreme heat of the day, and the extreme cold of night, justice! I haven’t included all my adventures in Digging Deep- but there are a few ’real’ situations in there! The rest will pop up in another story very soon!

The Olive Groves of Lepti Minus
What genre does your book fall under?
Erotic romance.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Oh that’s hard! I think the lead, Dr Beth Andrews, would work well under the charms of the stunning Zoe Tapper.

Zoe Tapper
While the equally delicious Sam Worthington, of Avator fame, would make a wonderful Dr Harrison Harris.

Sam Worthington
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Dr Beth Andrew’s first foreign excavation as a site leader, which she co-run’s with the American archaeologist Dr Harrison Harris, gets off to a shaky start due to the jealous interference of Harrison’s ex, and an over zealous student… Love and lust really can cloud even the cleverest persons judgement!
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Assuming they like it, Digging Deep will form part of the Xcite Secret Library range
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
A month.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Digging Deep is in the same vein as my previous Secret Library erotic romance, A Sticky Situation.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
As I said above, this new novella was inspired by my trip to North Africa - The entire excavation period was jam packed with unbelievable experiences just waiting to be used in stories!
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
As half the archaeologists on the dig I describe in the novella are British, and half are American, there is some interesting word play between the two cultures- all good natured of course! It might make you smile. (Well, I hope it does).
Thanks for joining me here today. Why not check out my colleagues blogs on the dates below to find out about their Next Big Thing…

Guest Blog with Justine Elyot- Seasons in the Sun
I’m delighted to invite fellow writer, and friend, Justine Elyot to my site today- I just love the sound of this book!!
Hello, everyone, and especially Kay – massive thanks for hosting me today.
For those of us in the northern hemisphere, winter is coming. All the erotic scenes – unless the protagonists are of an exceptionally hardy disposition – will have to take place indoors, in front of roaring log fires or in cosy beds.
This isn’t the case in my Mischief novella His House of Submission, though. The story takes its characters, Sarah and Jasper, through a long, hot summer in a private mansion and its grounds. Summer is a wonderful time to set an erotic romance – all the perfume in the air, the humidity, the lushness. I took full advantage of it. Here’s an example:
From the top of the slope I could see Jasper, sitting on a picnic blanket in a white linen shirt and light trousers, reading a book. A basket stood beside him.
I took some time to just look at him, let the sight of him fill me up, colouring in that greyness of spirit Will had left behind. I took a deep breath and began to walk down.
He looked up and put his book aside. His teeth shone brighter than the sun, glinting below his sunglasses. He must have them professionally whitened, I thought.
‘You’re a little bit late,’ he greeted me, patting the rug beside him.
I sat down, feeling suddenly guilty about the Will encounter.
‘Am I? Sorry. I thought I left the house in plenty of time. What are you reading?’
‘Don’t change the subject.’ He dropped the book into the picnic basket and wagged a finger at me. ‘We are discussing your punctuality.’
‘Oh dear. Are we?’ I tried to look appealing and penitent.
‘Yes, we are. And after discussing it, we are addressing it.’
‘So I’m in trouble?’
‘The best kind of trouble.’ He smiled and the little edge of fear I’d been nursing fell away. He was such a good actor; it made all the role-play rather too realistic sometimes. ‘First, you need to take off your dress.’
‘Really?’
His only answer to that was a hard stare.
I took off the dress, baring myself to the lakeland wildlife. And…I looked swiftly back to the woodland. Had Will really gone? What if he was still there, watching us? He would see me sitting naked next to the fully-clothed Jasper. The thought lent a strange urgency to my arousal. I straightened my spine and pushed back my shoulders, wanting Jasper to know that I was doing my best to look good for him.
‘Good,’ he said. ‘But the sun’s pretty ferocious today. You’ll need some lotion.’
He took a bottle of factor 30 sunblock from the basket, poured some into his palm and began slathering it over me, starting with my breasts.
I sat, patient and still, while he massaged the pale unguent all over me, with special attention to my nipples.
‘Don’t want sunburnt nipples, do we?’ he said, when my breath began to shorten, my body screaming for him to just jump on and take me.
‘No,’ I breathed.
‘That would be quite terrible.’ He rolled them gently between finger and thumb, making the most of their slipperiness. I smelled of holidays and it made me reckless.
‘I want you,’ I said.
He smiled, but made no reply, simply increasing the pressure on my poor nipples until I gasped.
He had me turn around and kneel with my elbows on the blanket while he attended to my shoulders and back and then my bottom. He was especially thorough in applying a great deal of lotion to my bum cheeks, even getting it nice and evenly spread between the furrow, as if the sun’s rays might penetrate into that darkest of places. I twitched when his massaging fingers came closer and closer to my anus, then pressed down on it, smothering it in cream, but I didn’t protest. My body was his.
His lotioned hands slid in between my thighs, coating them completely.
‘I wonder if anyone’s ever had a sunburnt clit,’ he said idly, sweeping his thumb swiftly but with devastating effect over mine.
Oh, I wanted him to touch it again, but he wouldn’t.
‘It seems a bit silly,’ he said, grabbing me suddenly by the hip and positioning me over his lap, ‘to put all that cream on your bottom to avoid sunburn when I’m going to get it bright red anyway.’
‘Oh,’ I mewled, on high alert. Even though I’d been expecting this, it still came as a shock somehow.
‘I’m afraid the lotion might make it sting all the more,’ he said. ‘But perhaps you’ll think of that next time you’re running late.’
His hand smacked down and he was right – it did hurt quite a lot.
I let out an uninhibited yell. On the lake, some water birds wheezed and quacked and feathers flapped.
‘You’re getting off lightly,’ he informed, me continuing the spanking at a brisk pace. My punishment was being observed by a gaggle of interested ducks and I imagined Will’s eyes in the bushes, watching Jasper’s hand fall over and over, hard and strong, on my rapidly heating arse.
‘Ouch,’ was about the only reply possible.
‘I once took a girl down here,’ he reminisced. ‘An experienced submissive, she was. I wouldn’t do this kind of thing with you yet. I took her down to the water’s edge.’
The spreading sting of my hot, slippery bottom, together with the continuing hail of smacks, made it hard to focus on anything else, but I tried my best to follow Jasper’s anecdote anyway.
‘I gave her a pair of gloves to put on, then I made her pick a handful of nettles.’
‘Oh God. I hate them.’ Childhood memories of being stung on the legs while I tried to negotiate an overgrown footpath crowded into my mind, adding somehow to the pain I was already experiencing.
‘Yes, so did she.’ He took some time to enjoy his memory, though the spanking carried on, its sound effects echoing over the lake until I thought it must be making ripples. ‘I made her lie on the rug and I put the gloves on and I pressed them on to her arse cheeks. My God, did she wriggle and thrash. The sting lasted hours, she said. But it made her ragingly horny. She got quite into it, after that. Used to like it when I made her stuff them down her knickers and wear them to the shops. We’d always end up having to take a break for a quickie in the car.’
****
There are many more outdoor pursuits as the story continues. If you fancy re-living the heat of August in November, it’s available from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/House-Submission-Mischief-Books-ebook/dp/B009N7JF66/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1353509768&sr=1-1
Here’s the blurb:
Sarah turns up at Jasper Jay’s country house thinking she has been hired to make an inventory of his large collection of historical artefacts. But when she and her lover, Will, are caught by the boss sneaking a peek at some of his more private pieces, she starts to suspect an ulterior motive. Alone with Jasper Jay in his secluded manor, Sarah finds herself enthralled by the enigmatic collector, especially given the intimate interest she shares with him. Pretty soon, they’re entangled in an intense relationship of domination and submission that excludes the rest of the world. Until it intrudes, in the form of a vengeful Will, bent on exposing everything his erstwhile boss has worked so hard to keep secret.
Thanks for reading, everyone!
Many thanks again Justine- a book that has to add to my ‘to be read’ list!!

Between The Sheets- Birmingham Libraries Join the Fun!
I am one happy writer today! I have been asked to join the wonderful writer, and my very good friend Kd Grace, at two talks all about erotica and erotica writing in a few of the libraries of Birmingham UK.
Ever since James’s fan fiction made its transformation from an online homage of Twilight, to a three book paperback landslide, the interest in erotic literature has sky rocketed.
Erotica in literature is hardly a new concept. The history of the subject, which ranges as far back as written records allow us to go, is fascinating. I fully intend to explore it at length next year. (Brace yourselves for a few blogs and maybe a non-ficiton book on the subject).
Erotic action is frequently included in novels, whether it be romantic or lust fuelled, and thus it is no stranger to the libraries of Britain. What is new, is the concept of allowing novels and short story collections that are exclusively erotic in nature, to be discussed in our libraries.

Kay and Kd!
I am very excited to be part of the voice of erotica that’s carrying this genre forward, and hopefully showing the world that, like any other style of writing, it contains strong stories, tension, cliffhangers, romance, and every other concept associated with any well written novel.
So- if you are in or around the West Midlands, why not come along and see what all the fuss is about!
Wednesday 5th December at Kingswinford Library 2.30pm (Kd Grace and Kay Jaybee)
Wednesday 5th December at Stourbridge Library 7.15pm (Kd Grace and Kay Jaybee)
Thursday 6th December at Cradley Library (Kd Grace)
There will be a talk, a mini reading or two (don’t worry, we’ll be gentle with you), and we will be happy to answer your questions about writing, erotica, or anything else you can think of, over a cuppa in the afternoon, and a glass of wine in the evening.
Further details of these, and other library events across the UK, can be found here.
I love libraries and always have. I was lucky enough to work in a number of public libraries and a university library before I had my children. It was SO much fun. Every day was different, and every day was rewarding. For a passionate book lover, it was the best place to spend my working days!
Perhaps I can look forward to seeing my work in a library or two one day?!
Hope to see you there!

Guest Post by KD Grace- Coping in the Ether
It’s always such a pleasure to hang out over on my dear friend, and fab writer, Kay Jaybee’s site. Thanks for having me back, Kay. Yours is such a great place to visit!
The pleasure is all mine KD!! I loved every word of Riding the Ether! Over to you hun…
Today, as my husband and I spent several happy hours digging in our allotment in the sunshine and preparing the beds for next spring’s planting, I found myself thinking about my characters in the Lakeland Heatwave Trilogy and how they cope with the horrendous stress of living constantly under threat from the demon, Deacon. Everyone has an escape mechanism. Everyone has a place where they feel at least for a little while they can get away from the madness.
It’s not unusual that I should be thinking about that escape mechanism, that sane place while I was happily getting my hands covered with earth because gardening, being outside, is always one of my places to run away for a little taste of sanity. I dug, listening to a wren nearby singing manically. I dug while basking in the brilliant golds and bronzes of the autumn day, and I thought about Cassandra and Tara and Anderson and all of the Elemental Coven struggling for a little sanity in the dangerous place they’re in.
I think novel two of the Lakeland Heatwave Trilogy, Riding the Ether, is in many ways, more about how the Elemental Coven copes, more about how Cassandra copes and has coped in all of her years of self-imposed solitude. In the first novel, Body Temperature and Rising, we were getting to know the coven and what they were up against. Riding the Ether is all about seeing them at home, seeing them living under constant stress and seeing how they help one another through the struggles, how they help someone who is a stranger cope, and how she helps them in return.
Of course you’d expect a good amount of sex would be involved in coping with their stress, and that’s very true. But each member of the coven has their own way of coping, their own unique way of dealing with the stress of battling Deacon, of not knowing when and how his next attack will come. Fiori deals with her stress by being an amazing cook, and by seeing that good, healthy, delicious food is always available for the coven. Sky is a gifted apothecary, and spends her time with her tinctures and herbs. Tim is a sheep farmer. He, along with Marie, finds solace on his farm, in being outside. Tara gardens. She grows vegetables and herbs for the coven, and even in the dead of winter, which is when Riding the Ether is set, she finds solace in her greenhouse. Cassandra and Anderson are both lovers of learning, and happily stow away with a good book when they need an escape.
I wanted to create an intimate view of the Elemental Coven at home in Riding the Ether. And in doing so, I ended up creating a place where I wish I could go and hang out, in front of the fireplace in the library of Elemental Cottage with maybe a piece of Fiori’s ginger bread and a cup of her cocoa. Ultimately what makes the Elemental Coven work, what makes them strong, is their dependence on and their love for each other, and Cassandra experiences that love, that sense of home more powerfully than most because it’s something she has never known before.
The bond of home and family and acceptance all wrapped in the powerful sex magic of Elemental Coven is the coven’s strength and their escape, and I hope that readers will find themselves as welcomed into Elemental Coven as Cassandra does, because they’ll need a safe place when Deacon comes calling.
Blurb:
Cassandra Larkin keeps her ravenous and dangerous sexual appetite secret until she seduces Anderson in the mysterious void of the Ether. Anderson is the sexy, insatiable ghost who can give her exactly what she needs.
But sex is dangerous in a place like the Ether…
When the treacherous demon, Deacon, discovers the truth about the origin of Cassandra’s powerful lust, he plots to use her sex magic for revenge on Tara Stone and the Elemental Coven, who practice their own brand of sex magic.
Cassandra must embrace the lust and sexuality she fears and learn to use its power. Will she stand with Anderson, Tara, and the Elemental Coven against Deacon’s wrath or suffer the loss of friendship, magic and love?
Excerpt:
Anderson felt his heart swell at the sight of her, seated on the floor of the library, the fire long gone out, still perusing her pile of books, as she had been when he pulled her away to tell her good-bye. On the floor next to her curled under the blanket from the chair, Alice slept soundly, and he smiled to himself, knowing what had happened as surely as if he had been here, knowing the poor woman’s need, and knowing his beautiful Cassandra’s compassion. He watched her for a long moment before he spoke. Her lust for knowledge was nearly as enthralling to him as her lust for the pleasures of the flesh. She was stunning in her vulnerability, vulnerability belying the power of a goddess, power that many would give their lives for, and yet she wore it uncomfortably, cautiously, and more exquisitely than she could have possibly realized. He watched her until he could stand the space between them no longer, then he spoke.
‘You have not been truthful with me, Cassandra Larkin. I have just returned from your room where I found your bed empty and cold.’
She smiled up at him. ‘I didn’t hear you come in.’
‘Indeed you did not. Imagine my disappointment at not receiving the reward for which I have endured a cold night on the fell to bring back the prize.’
‘Then you found the mirror?’
‘It is safe within the walls of Elemental Cottage, my love.’ Before she could stand and move into his arms, he seated himself on the floor behind her, legs spread on either side of her. His erection pressed hard against the small of her back as he scooted in close, running his hands up under the cashmere top to cup her full bosom, relishing the feel of her. She caught her breath and arched back into his embrace, so that his mouth found the hollow of her throat.
He slipped a hand up under her skirt over the solid muscles of her thighs and found that she wore no undergarments. She shifted and grunted softly opening herself so his fingers found purchase, first against the soft golden nest covering her mound, and then in between the burgeoning folds of her womanhood to the warm moist core of her sex. ‘Oh my love, you are in need, as am I. I am full with the weight of my lust for you. But even now I hear clattering in the kitchen. Our dear Fiori will not have it, the two of us missing breakfast after our night of magic and your night of,’ he nipped her neck and nodded toward the sleeping Alice. ‘Your night of magic. I fear we will have to manage a quickie.’
She pulled away from him long enough to reposition herself and helped open his trousers and ease them down far enough that his manhood was free and anxious for her. Then she lifted her skirt, giving him just the tiniest, most exquisite glimpse of her glistening sex before she settled onto his lap, sheathed his member with delicious ease, and wrapped her legs around him.
‘Take from me, but a little, my love,’ he grunted, as she began to rock against him. ‘It will be our secret, and it will make me stiffen in my trousers as I sit next to you eating Fiori’s fine breakfast, and everyone will smell your delicious sex all over me, and they shall all long for you to take from them as you have from me. They shall all long to be the chosen lover of the succubus.’
He covered her mouth with a probing kiss, letting his tongue and his lips swallow back her protests, and when she relaxed against his mouth, he spoke. ‘For that is what you are, my beautiful Cassandra, you are a succubus, a creature of exquisite, terrible and beautiful magic, and I long with all of my heart to be enthralled by you.’
The feel of her soft laughter against his mouth was ecstasy almost beyond words, and the deep pall of the night vanished in the sound of it, in the taste of it. And in her magic, he felt as though he were walking on a rain-washed fell in the sunrise.
‘I’m not keen on facing Fiori’s wrath if we’re late to the breakfast table,’ she said. ‘So I’ll only enthrall you a little bit this time. She bit his bottom lip, then his throat, and his member surged almost beyond control at the pure wonder of her. ‘It’ll be a quickie, succubus style.’
And her womanhood tightened around him like a glove, she surrounded him with such delight that he scarce could remember his own name, and it mattered not. It mattered not.
It was the trembling of her sex around him, and the shimmer of her power as she took her release that sent him tumbling to his, and he knew that if he were not already dead, he would happily die in the ecstasy of her love.
‘I am undone, dear woman,’ he whispered in his convulsions of lust. ‘Each time you take me I am undone with such pleasure as I have never known.’
‘That’s my magic, Anderson. I undo people. Just like it says on the label.’ She nodded to the pile of books on the floor.
He pulled her to him with such fierceness that she gave a little gasp. ‘It is much more than that, my darling, and you know this to be true, as do I. It is so much more.’
When he pulled away this time, there were tears in her eyes, and his heart felt like it would burst from the sight of her so. ‘I wish I didn’t know what I know,’ she whispered as he pulled her tight against him. ‘And even still I need to know more.’
There was so much he wanted to say to her, so much he wanted her to say to him, but Sky knocked softly on the frame of the door.
‘I’m sorry to interrupt, but breakfast is served and we all need to eat. There’s lots to be done.’
The commotion woke Alice, who had slept through their love-making, and she hurried upstairs to dress while Anderson and Cassandra tidied and tucked as best they could, offering each other furtive smiles that lovers do when they share such secrets as their flesh allow them.

Fifty Shades- A Discussion with Shanna Germain and Dr Richard Wagner
Hi lovely readers,
Before I start this blog properly, I simply have to share something with you that happened this week- a very ordinary experience which will lead me nicely into my blog!
On Tuesday night I took my family out for a Chinese meal. It was the first time I’d ever been able to afford to pay for a ‘posh’ dinner with my money earned from writing, and it was something of a celebration.
We had an excellent meal, and were about to pack up and leave when a group of about 20 men, all in the 30-50 age bracket came in – I suspect for some sort of ‘works do’. The men had no sooner taken their coats off, than one of them began to talk it rather loud decibels about Fifty Shades and his wife’s reaction to the same.
My husband instantly shot me a ‘don’t you dare say anything’ look- but as the conversation drifted towards the ‘what the writers of such stuff must be like; and ‘it must be easy to make money out of erotica if crap like that can be published’ (their words, not mine), then action than to be taken!!
I waited until my family were safely outside, dug some business cards from my pocket, and walked to their table- I was very polite- ‘Excuse me, forgive me for interrupting, but I think you guys need a bit of erotica education.’ Then I turned round and walked out to cries of surprise and thanks!!
I still can’t believe I did that!!
Anyway…to the point of this blog…
A few months ago I was chatting over the marvel that is Skype, with my good friend Richard Wagner, aka Dr Dick. Originally I was just passing on my rather limited knowledge about how to improve a published books profile, when the conversation drifted towards the phenomena (and love it or hate it, that is what it has become), of Fifty Shades, and how it has effected both my writing experience and the sales of my books.

Richard Wagner
It transpired that the gorgeous (I use that word advisedly- just check out that photo- ignore me!) Shanna Germain had previously approached Richard about putting together a podcast for his Erotic Mind series about how Shades has affected the world of BDSM erotica in general.

Kay and Shanna
I was extremely flattered when I was asked to join Shanna and Richard for what was to become an extremely interesting (and great fun) 2 part interview about how our writing has been touched by the works of E.L James, and the consequences that have, and will continue to, follow.
I won’t give away what we said, for you can hear the first half of our interview here- Part 1 of our chat is now LIVE! you’ll find it here – http://www.drdicksexadvice.com/2012/11/12/podcast-354/
A half hour which includes Shanna reading the incredible Fool’s Gold.
Next Monday, the second half will be up (be assured I will add the link as soon as Monday comes around)- and you can hear me read a section from my novella, Not Her Type.
My reading is a very different story from Shanna’s as we, although in the same genre, have deliciously different styles and voices. And thank goodness!! Erotica wouldn’t be as interesting or exciting if we all said the same things in the same way. If ever proof was needed that erotica is as wide a genre as, for example, Crime or Romance, then Shanna and I, and all out wonderful colleagues out there, are it!!
Happy listening guys!
Kay xx
