Throwback Thursday – Dominance And Dissent

Dissent is a big tough cyborg…with a weakness for rescuing helpless creatures. He could crush a boulder with his bare hands yet he’s gentle and careful with the little beings he frees.

He is as gentle and careful with Greer, a human female, he has also freed. She is his genetic match and he would do anything to give her all that she wants.

She wants to travel far, far away from him and everyone else.

Dominance And Dissent

To earn the love of his curvy human, this cyborg will have to set her free.
***
Dissent has one primary mission—to find his female and protect her.

He doesn’t know who she is, where she’s situated, or what she looks like. That doesn’t stop him from searching the universe for her. He’s a cyborg and he’s determined. He WILL track her down.

While the J Model warrior is exploring a settlement on a merchant planet, he hears a defiant scream. Dissent has finally located the one being he’s genetically compatible with. He rushes to his little human’s side, ready and willing to defend her, eager to claim his female…forever.

Greer has only one dream—to be free. She’s been a slave her entire lifespan, has been subjected to soul-crushing abuse and pride-shredding humiliation. When an opportunity to escape presents itself, she takes it. Steps away from independence, she’s apprehended.

As she looks death in the face, waiting for the final strike, a tall, handsome cyborg warrior saves her. He exudes power, makes her tremble with desire, is unlike any of the males she’s ever known…except in one heartbreaking way.

He wants to own her.

As Dissent and Greer battle for dominance, danger looms. An enemy from the past has returned. He’s heavily armed, he’s not alone, and his sole goal is to kill both of them.
***
Dominance And Dissent is a STANDALONE Cyborg SciFi Romance set in a dark, gritty, sometimes-violent universe.
It features an overprotective cyborg, a defiant slave, and a ravenous baby creature who is determined to eat his way through an entire settlement.

Claiming Cure – Do Cyborgs Fart?

One of the tough questions is asked and answered in Claiming Cure. (grins)

Do cyborgs fart?

Farting is a necessary act for humans. It is a release of built up gas in the digestive system. And it is a healthy thing for humans to do.

It is NOT a necessary act for cyborgs. Their systems are…more efficient. So no, cyborgs don’t fart.

Claiming Cure

A proud cyborg medic meets his human match.

***

Cyra has tasks to complete before she dies.

There are patients to heal, a dangerous mission to undertake, and a world to save. She doesn’t have time to entertain uninvited guests.

Especially one coldhearted cyborg medic who thinks he’s better than her.

The male might be breathtakingly handsome. His sternly set lips might be extremely kissable. And his touch might draw out a passion she didn’t think she was capable of feeling.

But he’s also a distraction, one that might doom millions of innocent beings to a painful, horrible death.

Cure isn’t emotionless. He feels…greatly. Listening to that malfunction has caused other beings pain and suffering in the past.

He refuses to allow his desires to cloud his judgment now.

His resolve is tested when he’s forced to associate with the most provoking, alluring medic in the universe.

Cyra is his genetic match, the one being in the universe he is fated to protect, touch, claim. She’s clever and beautiful, and the need to hold her almost downs his systems.

But now is not the time to indulge his great wanting.

Cure has an assignment to complete.

If he fails to accomplish his goals, everyone he cares for, including his human female, will die.

Claiming Cure And White Jackets

Cure, the cyborg hero of Claiming Cure, and Cyra, its human heroine, are both medics. (The locals call Cyra a healer, their word for medic.)

They both wear white jackets similar to those doctors here on Earth wear.

Why do they wear white jackets?

The white jackets are highly visible. Medics on Cancri B and on the Dauntless won’t be mistaken for warriors. If an enemy shoots at a being wearing a white jacket, they know that being is a medic.

Patients will also know the being is a medic. They will have the comfort of knowing they’re with someone who seeks to heal, not harm.

The white jackets also have big pockets. That’s ideal for medics as they have a lot of things to carry – scanners, handhelds, containers of pills for patients, gifts from a head covering crafting teen girl, etc.

Another benefit of the white jackets is…they are easy to change. Being a medic can be a dirty job. There’s blood and other fluids to deal with. It is much easier to grab a clean white jacket than don a clean flight suit.

Throwback Thursday – Doc’s Orders

Doc’s Orders is a tough story to read right now because it deals with a pandemic on an isolated planet and we’re currently living through a pandemic (or more than one) here on Earth.

Doc’s Orders was written before COVID. But that wasn’t due to me predicting COVID would happen.

I had merely done my research.

Pandemics, unfortunately, happen. Often.

They especially happen when isolated populations are exposed to travelers. Explorers killed millions of beings by exposing them to germs and viruses and other things they had never before that contact experienced.

This would happen with space travel also. And it DOES happen…in Doc’s Orders.

Doc’s Orders

She wants both sides of her cyborg—the medic AND the beast.

A fully functional cyborg is balanced. His machine half and his organic half work together to produce the perfect warrior.

Doc isn’t fully functional.

The G Model operates at the two extremes. When his machine is in complete control, he’s the logic-driven medic, saving lifespans. Once his organics take charge, he becomes the savage beast…and beings die.

Both sides of Doc want to be the first to claim his female.

Allinen is one of the few beings in her small settlement who wasn’t born with a fated mate. Determined to belong somewhere, she has crafted a plan to leave the planet.

That plan doesn’t involve a huge stormy-eyed male who alternates between cool seduction and out-of-control ravishment. Doc isn’t her fated mate. Allinen knows that. But his dual nature and forbidden embraces tempt her to forget forever and indulge in more immediate delights.

Neither side of Doc views their relationship as being temporary. Her conflicted cyborg is prepared to battle her family, her planet and death itself to keep her.

Claiming Cure And Finishing The Mission

If you’ve read Drift Would, you know Cure’s part of the mission is…to complete it.

The mission started with Strike. He uncovered a possible source of the mysterious noise the captain and crew of the Dauntless had detected.

It continued with Drift. He completed a significant portion of the mission.

And it will…hopefully…end with Cure.

Which is ironic as he is a medic and seems to be the least likely cyborg to complete a dangerous mission. (grins)

Gardening – Gathering The Leaves

It is Fall/Autumn in my corner of the universe. The leaves on the trees are turning brilliant yellows and oranges and reds. They’re gorgeous. It is like living temporarily on a magical alien planet. (smiles)

Soon, those leaves will fall to the ground. We have HUGE trees and the leaves, if not gathered, will reach my knees or higher.

They have to be gathered. They do NOT have to be sent to the city for composting (or worse, to be placed in the landfill – grimaces).

All those leaves contain valuable minerals and nutrients. When broken down into leaf mold (a ‘composting’ process that requires merely leaves and a little bit of water and time), those minerals and nutrients can be returned to garden beds to feed vegetables, flowers and other plants.

Gather your leaves and HOARD them. They are extremely valuable. Don’t throw that wealth away!

Muse Food – Shelter In Tree

The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I spotted this awesome tree when we were trekking around Alaska.

You likely can’t detect it from the photo but the sheltered area was plenty large enough to accommodate both of us. We truly could shelter in the tree (not fully standing up but width wise).

Homes don’t have to be constructed. On some alien planets, homes could be grown. The planet could provide shelter. And wouldn’t that be an interesting bit of world building?

(smiles)

Cure assumes his contact on Cancri B is male and humanoid.

He has based this assumption on probabilities. The odds his contact is male are very high. The odds that contact is Cancri are also very high.

But Cyra, his female human contact, defies the odds. In all ways. (grins) Cure will soon realize that.

Claiming Cure And Taking Every Comment Literally

Cure might be one of the least socially adept heroes I’ve ever written. (grins)

Cyborgs don’t have the ability to lie, which means they also don’t have the ability to use sarcasm. Some cyborgs can detect it in others.

Cure…doesn’t detect sarcasm in anyone. He takes everything said to him literally and that is often EXTREMELY humorous.

For others. Not always for him.

He also isn’t the best at picking up on hints. He prefers beings tell him exactly what they want and share exactly what they mean.

That is convenient because he’ll soon meet face-to-face with a human medic who isn’t shy about telling him exactly what she thinks of him. (laughs)
