A Massive Caterpillar
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I are sacrificing one of our tomato plants to this absolute beauty of a caterpillar. (That’s my hand in the background to show its size.)
(smiles)
It is the biggest caterpillar I’ve ever seen here in Toronto, Canada.
I think this will eventually be a Laurel Sphinx, an equally massive (for Canada) moth.
We’re fortunate to be able to sacrifice one of our tomato plants. We can afford to buy canned tomatoes to replace this loss.
As the Dear Wonderful Hubby said, “We can buy more tomatoes. It is harder to buy more butterflies.”

Resting Points
I’m well aware of Trump’s Project 2025 and its implications on romance novels.
I know if he gets elected in the US, romance novels will be likely banned. This ban will eventually extend to all heat levels but the steamy romance novels like mine will be banned first.
With that in mind, starting with Claiming Cure, the third core story in the Dauntless Cyborgs series (releasing in November), I’ll ensure there are semi-solid resting points for the Dauntless Cyborgs series and for the cyborg world at the end of each novel. There will be hints about the future because hey, life goes on. But there will also be a sense of completion.

Throwback Thursday – Seeking Vector
One of my indications of love is… does that person trust me with their secrets?
Vector, the cyborg hero of Seeking Vector, has a HUGE secret. He has kept this secret from his crew, his leaders, everyone he knows.

Drift Would – Would Roshini Stop Changing Her Appearance?
Roshini, the heroine of Drift Would, started changing her appearance to prevent detection by the Humanoid Alliance. If the enemy was looking for someone with long red hair, for example, and her hair was now blonde and short, they would be unlikely to find her.
If those enemies were gone permanently from the planet, would Roshini stop changing her appearance?
I doubt she’d change it as often. Changing one’s appearance every second moment is A LOT of work.
But I suspect she’d still change her appearance once in a while. She enjoys having different looks. It’s fun for her.

A Party In The Garden
The squirrels ravaged one of our largest (golf ball sized) sugar baby watermelons.
(The squirrels weren’t thirsty because it has been raining every dang day. And they certainly weren’t hungry. I suspect they were curious.)
So we have placed the remaining watermelons, the butternut squashes and one massive tomato in organza bags.
According to YouTube gardening experts, that should stop the critters. And we’re still able to see the baby produce as they grow.
The organza bags make our garden look like a party, however. (grins)

Muse Food – Coming Up Roses
I’ve been trying to grow roses from clippings for many, many years. I’ve tried and failed at many different methods to do this.
Last year, I said, “F*ck this.” And I simply buried the rose branches I had pruned in the backyard, using them to build up the soil a bit.
And this year, you guessed it, I have roses sprouting all over the yard. (grins)
This happens in stories ALL THE TIME. The moment the heroine stops searching for love, for example, she finds it. Or the moment she gives up on a dream, she lives it. Often in a unique and unexpected way.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – August 18
Claiming Cure, the third core story in the Dauntless Cyborgs series (releasing in November), is still with my Awesome Editor. This first set of edits/revisions take a while to complete so I don’t expect to receive it anytime soon.
I’m still chillaxing, gardening, SLEEPING (oh my stars, that is glorious), spending time with the Dear Wonderful Hubby, and completing not-very-exciting writer admin tasks.
And I’m starting to think about Grid Locked, the fourth story in the series. That story will be action-packed also. (grins) And chaotic. You know Grid. Chaos is what he does.
Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) Eat some in season produce. In my corner of the universe, those include tomatoes, bell peppers, corn on the cob, squashes/courgettes and raspberries. Savor every bite. We are SO lucky to live in a world that has those treats. (smiles)

Stepmoms, Childless Cat Ladies And Other Wonderful People
Stepmoms are Moms. Giving birth is a miracle and an act of love but it is a tiny part of being a great Mom.
Childless cat ladies are awesome. They are some of the happiest, most giving people I’ve ever met.
Frag. Loving another being, any being at all, is an act of emotional bravery.
We go into that knowing we’re risking a piece of our heart yet we still do that anyway.
Because we’re amazing. (big hugs)
Love makes the universe worth living in.
And showing love to any being, anything should be applauded.

Drift Would And World-Enders
When the cyborgs first discovered the Humanoid Alliance, their enemies, had manufactured a World-Ender, a weapon that could destroy an entire planet within a mere moment, I wondered how they could produce such a weapon.
Power like that doesn’t appear out of thin air. It comes from something.
We learn in Drift Would that an even more powerful weapon is being manufactured on Cancri B. The power for that weapon comes from a substance found deep within the planet. It was likely stored there during the creation of Cancri B.
That energy had to go somewhere.
It is…fitting, I guess you would say, that the substance that created the planet now has the ability to destroy it.

Throwback Thursday – Ghost Of A Machine
I LOVE broken heroes – both reading stories featuring them and writing stories featuring them.
And Ghost is one of the most broken heroes I’ve ever encountered. He makes Rage from Releasing Rage look well adjusted. (grins)
He is also super protective of other cyborgs’ females and of his own and…well…of anyone innocent and/or kind.
Fragile. Stubborn. His.
Ghost, a C Model cyborg, has disconnected his machine from his human side. Severely damaged, he knows two things—the curvy human female on his ship belongs to him and he must keep her safe. He’ll stop at nothing to protect her, claim her, make her his.
Primitive. Damaged. Hers.
