Gardening – Practice Years
This is the first year we grew eggplant and squashes.
The zucchini gave us produce. The eggplant and the butternut squash have absolutely nothing on the vine.
We made mistakes.
We started the eggplant too late. Then we didn’t realize that our wild bunny would love eating the plants.
With the butternut squash, we didn’t prune some of the male flowers to allow more female flowers to bud.
We also had weather issues. It was cool and damp and all the butternut squash female flowers that DID form rotted off.
I’m disappointed but this lack of production isn’t a surprise. The first year of growing anything is, what I think of as, a practice year. Mistakes will happen. Plants will die. Other plants won’t produce.
We’ve learned and it should be a little better growing year next year.

Drift Would And The Love Of Speed
Both Drift and Roshini love to go fast. They love speed. They are a bit fearless in that way.
I’m so very happy they found each other. Because I, for example, do NOT like to go fast. (grins) Excessive speed scares the sh*t out of me.
Many beings have the same stance as I do and both Drift and Roshini would have been unhappy being paired permanently with those beings. Yes, they might curb their need for speed temporarily to please others. But doing that for a longer duration would carve away a piece of themselves.
They were truly fabricated for each other, as Drift would say.

Muse Food – Babies And Hope
The Dear Wonderful Hubby spotted this beautiful momma dear and baby at Nara Park, Japan.
One of the many reasons people love babies is because they symbolize hope. They are the next generation of humans, fur babies, plants, insects, other living things. We hope their world will be a kinder, happier one.
Babies also symbolize innocence. They haven’t yet done anything hurtful.
In stories, harming a baby is the act of the evilest of beings. They’ve done absolutely nothing to deserve that treatment.
Protecting a baby can be a reason for heroes and heroines to survive and to fight.
Babies also suggest a continuance or a future. The characters will live long after the story ends. Which is one reason why many romance novels end with the characters having a baby.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – August 4
Claiming Cure, the third core story in the Dauntless Cyborgs series (releasing in November), is with my Awesome Editor. I love this story and I really hope she loves it also.
It will likely be about a month before she completes the first round of revision suggestions.
While I wait, I’m chillaxing. (grins) I’m catching up on my sleep. I’m spending time with the Dear Wonderful Hubby. I’m gardening and reading and yes, I’m thinking about the next story, Grid Locked (likely releasing in March).
Have a wonderful week, my friends. (big hugs) Look up at the night sky. Imagine a being on another planet doing the same and seeing Earth (or, more likely, our Sun). Wonder about the vastness of the universe. We are all part of it, are all connected.

Post Book Submission Relaxation
I submitted Claiming Cure, the third core story in the Dauntless Cyborgs series (releasing in November), to my Awesome Editor this week! Woot! I really hope she likes it because I LOVE this story.
Now, I’m doing…nothing. My brain is completely empty. Cure and Cyra’s story fried it. (grins)
I’m sleeping and maybe I’ll putter around the garden a bit. Reading and watching movies are also on my to-do list. As is spending some quality time with the Dear Wonderful Hubby.

Drift Would And Control Of The Sector
In Drift Would, when Drift and Cure approach the debris field, they’re told they’ve entered space temporarily controlled by Syndiculous 5, the planet Strike’s female’s mom presides over.
Yes, someone has to take control of the security for the sector. But that entity isn’t Syndiculous 5. At least, not yet.
Syndiculous 5 has merely assumed responsibility for the removal of the debris field as it is situated (intentionally) on a major trade route for the planet.
Also because Strike processes more of his brethren will be navigating through that debris field on the way to completing the mission. (grins) He’s helping that mission.

Drift Would And Fated Mates
The Cancris, the humanoid inhabitants of Cancri B, in Drift Would believe in Fated Mates. They believe there is a being in the universe you are meant to be with, love, build a family with (a family of two is very much a family).
This belief is a logical extension of their faith in the three Fates, deities who guide beings in life. These Fates would also guide beings toward the being they were destined to love.
The Cancris’ belief in Fated Mates, of course, ties in very well with the cyborgs’ belief in genetic matches. (smiles)

Throwback Thursday – Warlord Sky
I think of Warlord Sky as my bot story.
Nayan, the heroine, is a gifted engineer and she has designed some of the cutest bots in the universe. They all have unique personalities and quirks and I love them so much.
Warlord Sky
No one grounds a barbarian warrior.
Qulpa, a Chamele warrior, lost everyone he loved in the brutal Succession Wars. Flying is the only thing that brings him joy. Serving as his team’s pilot is the sole duty he has left. Then a horrific crash leaves him injured and unable to fly.
The one being who can help him is also his gerel, the female destined to be his. She insists she doesn’t feel their connection. Qulpa is certain his beautiful mate is lying and nothing will stop him from finding out why.
Nayan knows the injured barbarian is her warrior, her one chance at a forever bond. His dominance makes her feel safe. His gentle touch inflames her passion. His kisses scorch her very soul. The tall muscular male tempts her as no one else has.
