A humorous slant at growing older by Mary Vine
My goal this fall is not to fall. I did fall recently−over mydog. Why is it when you fall when you are older, your brain tells you you’refalling but it doesn't do anything about it? When I was younger, I’d at leaststick a hand out to help brace myself against a fall.Thankfully, my dog didn’t get hurt and I didn’t break anything.I suffered a black eye. My Phobia by Lynn Lovegreen
According to the 5th edition of the American Heritage Dictionary, a phobia is “a persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.” Under that definition, I have a phobia for snakes.I’m not alone in this—check out Indiana Jones, for example. Acrophobia - my official mental health issue
“Come on up! It's not that high.” So says everyone who has never experienced a fear of heights. Me, my heart starts pounding once I go up more than two steps on a ladder. Irrational? I don’t think so. My fear of heights, a.k.a. acrophobia, is an official mental health issue. I accept that. My phobia is a simple medical condition that affects my brain, just the way arthritis affects my knees

Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself . . . by Eleri Grace
Since I don't write horror, suspense, or paranormal, my novels don't have scary scenes per se, but my characters, like all of us, typically have fears or even phobias. My WWII characters often take to heart the words they heard as teens when newly-elected President Franklin Delano Roosevelt intoned in his 1933 Inaugural Address that Americans had nothing to fear but fear itself. While his words
