Little Heroines

One special book defined my early childhood. Back in 1961, my paternal
grandmother gave me a ten-story collection titled The Golden Treasury of Caroline
and Her Friends by Pierre Probst. For as long as I can remember, my grandmother appeared old to me. In her later years, she worked

Favourite Children’s Book
Hi, I'm Pippa Jay, author of scifi and supernatural stories with a romantic soul. Picking a favourite childrens' book is hard. As a youngster, the likes of Famous Five, Secret Seven, and an unending stream of pony books were my favourites. But I guess the first book that made a real impact on me and that ultimately influenced my writing style, was A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin. Dark

It's a Reading thing...
Hey hey everyone! So this month we all are talking about books... and as writer this is a topic that is not only near and dear to my heart but it's major part of being a writer.
I can't remember my favorite book as a child and it's really hard to say which one is my favorite as an adult. I think all books have merit, they can either present a challenge to my writing - I want to write like

A Lifelong Passion
BOOKS !! One of my oldest, happiest memories from childhood. A passion that began before I could read myself, and one that has continued over the decades - and will stay with me forever.
I don't have too many clear memories from my very early years, but something I remember with absolute clarity is the books that I had as a child. Sadly I no longer have them, but their covers and their stories

The Magic of Children’s Books … by Delsora Lowe
I thought about veering off topic this month, but frankly in
a world so full of dark right now, I need some magic in my life.
Books, especially children’s book are filled with magic and
imagination. One of my favorite children’s books is Goodnight Moon.
Full disclosure, I barely remember books I read as a child. Fuller disclosure,
I barely remember what I read last night

Looking for a little romance and laughs...by Kristin Wallace
“It is truth universally acknowledged that RomCom movies are not popular and never get made.”
Pardon me for stealing from Jane Austen. I’ve heard plenty of complaints over the years about the lack of romantic comedy books and movies. About how hard they are to sell, and that audiences don’t go see them. With few exceptions, this might remain true on the big screen. However, that’s not the

Silver Linings by Mary Vine
Mary Vine
As a young adult, I had no idea what the
expression silver lining really meant. Around 2002, my husband was transferred
to Boise, Idaho for three years, a move we did not want, but it was
a place that I learned how to enjoy the sunshine, write for publication and
found the best work experience I’d had up until this time. Yet, still I didn’t fully
grasp the meaning until we’d moved

I found my love of sewing!
by Diana Mccollum
I sit at my desk and look outside at the birds on the birdfeeder. They are happy, my husband filled the feeder this afternoon. The seeds which spill over or get scratched out and fall on the ground are greedily snatched up by the half dozen quail milling around below.
The birds are going about their daily routine. They search for food, drink, build nests and flit and fly

Black Lives Matter and a Runaway President by Lynn Lovegreen
I was going to write about my favorite children’s book (The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf) per our monthly theme, but this is more urgent today. I apologize for getting political on this usually light blog. Please feel free to skip if you're not interested.
My husband and I rented an RV and left town for our anniversary last week. That meant that I heard snatches of news here and there,
