Celebrating Ourselves by Lynn Lovegreen

This month, we’re celebrating the Romancing the Genres anniversary and also celebrating ourselves. I took a long time to come around to the idea of celebrating myself. But I’m glad I did.

In many cultures, women aren’t encouraged to celebrate themselves. Often we aren’t encouraged to think of ourselves at all. Many of us fall into the habit of putting others first to the extent that we

Accentuate the Positive by Eleri Grace

Celebration – celebrating
yourself in particular – is our theme this month. Like Luanna blogged last
week, I tend to indulge in rewards or treats when I reach goals I set for
myself or achieve a special milestone, but as she notes, I’ve not really
thought about it as celebrating myself so much as celebrating the achievement.
Perhaps I really should try harder to give myself

All About You!

By: Marcia King-Gamble

How ironic that All About Me is the title of one of my books
from the Flamingo Series, published by Harlequin. While the term “All About Me,”
sounds selfish, it is not meant to be. As women we spend way too much time taking
care of others and putting ourselves last.

We go to school, we work, we marry, we raise kids, and much

Romancing the Holidays!

By: Marcia King-Gamble

www.lovemarcia.com

Did you know I’m in love? Head over heels in love … madly in love. . . with the   holidays. Though
truth be told, some of these days aren’t national holidays, just days I celebrate.
These are Hallmark moments to me.

 As a child I looked
forward to holidays, although depending on where I lived, these holidays
changed. Growing up

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

by Diana McCollum

If you have a mother, this weekend is her special day! If you are a mother, or grandmother, it is your special weekend too!

Last year was the first Mother’s Day that my Sister, Brother and I celebrated Mother’s Day without a mother.

My sister and I decided to celebrate our daughters in remembrance of our Mother. It uplifted us to celebrate them and each other.

We

Creating a Junk Journal to Inspire my Romance Novel by Dora Bramden

Writing has also fired up in May. I was in a slump during the last part of March and early April, but a few weeks ago, my son suggested I use my new crafting skill for creating journals to see if it inspired my writing. He was so spot on.

As soon as he suggested it, I resonated with the idea. You know when you get that excited buzz.
I set to it the next day and a couple of weeks on, the junk

I'm PO'd

When I want to indulge myself, I go to Pinterest.  I’m what you might call PO’d…Pinterest
Obsessed.

For those of you who only recently arrived on this planet,
and for the couple who only recently crawled out of your bunkers, Pinterest is
a visual website with ideas for recipes, hobbies, games, home, art, lifestyle…and
so much more.  When you
discover “Pins” you love, you save them to boards

Rewards for a job well done...

Happy Anniversary and congratulations to Romancing the Genres! The longevity of this blog speaks to the dedication of its founders and its many contributors, of which I’m honoured to be one.

The theme this month is how we celebrate ourselves. I must confess it took me more than a few minutes of thought to determine whether or not I actually celebrate myself. I concluded that I do though I’ve

My Celebration Month by Paty Jager

Little did I know 41 years ago that May would become my celebration month for more than one reason.

Forty-one years ago this month I married the man who aggravates, teases me, and makes me laugh so much my sides hurt. At the time, we picked the month in between our birthday months to get married.  And not thinking of anything other than it be the middle of the month, most years our
