Christmas in July Bargain Reads by Kristin Wallace

Even though temps are in the 90s (at least where I live) we have this fun tradition of celebrating  Christmas In July. Hallmark Channel runs their Christmas movies. Stores have holiday specials. I thought I'd get in on the act by putting a couple of my Christmas-themed books on sale for $.99 cents. This month you can download the Christmas In Shellwater Key and Second Chance Christmas.

Medical Thrillers by Melissa Yi

CODE BLUES"Are you going to write about the pandemic? There's so much material!" a few readers asked me.I smiled. "I will. Later. When it's entertaining instead of scary."Yes, we're all living through a real-life medical thriller. The most frightening thing, as an emergency doctor, was watching people die in China, Iran, Italy, Spain, the UK, and the US, including medical personnel with

The Villains I Love to Love #redemption

Hello, I'm Pippa Jay, author of scifi and supernatural stories with a romantic soul. This month's topic is supposed to be villains we love to hate, but I'm not sure I can say that about any villains. I find hate exhausting, and if I really hate a villain chances are it's something in a genre that I don't like any way, and they can't get their comeuppance soon enough to satisfy me. Besides, hate

Writing my Favorite Villian...

Hey Hey everyone! Let me just say while I realllllyyyy tried this month's post is going to have no doughnuts or pictures of Lake Michigan.

I know .... right! But as much as I tried to find a way to include doughnuts... It just wasn't there.

As most of you know I write steamy romance suspense so basically every book I write has a villain in it. But they are your basic serial killer with

Villains Take All Forms by Eleri Grace

Like some of the bloggers who have posted this month, I don’t really read regularly in any genre that truly puts a villain on the page. When I saw this month’s prompt, my mind instantly went to Severus Snape from the Harry Potter series. I also considered writing about the antagonist in Kristan Higgin’s most recent novel, Always the Last to Know, who, like Snape, is far more complex than she

Why Good Girls Like Bad Boys

By Marcia King-Gamble

www.Lovemarcia.com

Call me risk averse, but
I’ve never been a fan of bad boys. Yet there are women who love them. And books
about bad boys sell. Must be that “I’m going to fix him thing.” To me, that’s
way too much work. Come to me fully formed. I’m not looking for a project or to
remake anyone. I’m looking for a man.

When I see muscles and an

Finding the Action (genre)

by M. L. BuchmanI LOVE writing! Who'd have guessed 27 years ago when I started writing fiction that it would turn into a full-time career potentially set to last me a lifetime. Not me, that's for dang sure. But it has. And just so that I can abuse the metaphor thoroughly let me say that all the action has been a thrilling adventure. (Is it dead yet? Not quite? Well, I tried.)Genres are

The Villain I Love to Hate by Lynn Lovegreen

I don’t read a lot of books with stereotypical villains who laugh demonically and have evil plans to take over the world. But I know one villain I love to hate: Lady Catherine de Bourgh in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

Like many villains, Lady Catherine sees herself as the heroine of her story. She does what she thinks is right, for herself and her family. But her arrogance and

Villains & Enemies; Seen & Unseen

The essence of a successful suspense story is a great villain. Intelligent and charismatic, plus enough of a sociopath to engage in single-minded pursuit of his or her goal no matter what. In a really good story, the villain is on the page, hiding in plain sight, and yet invisible to both the reader and the protagonist. The villain should also be a chameleon, changing its MO periodically to

Happy Chocolate Day! *throws confetti

National Brownie Day isn’t until December 8th but who can wait that long? This treasured holiday should be celebrated more than once a year, in my opinion. Does anyone eat brownies only once a year? Besides, today is Chocolate Day so you’re not really breaking any rules.

Also, I have visions of a brownie sundae dancing in my head because summer = ice cream and what goes better with ice cream
