An apple a day…

Another one done in Clip Studio Paint Pro. Further refining this style, actually using a photo reference, cleaning up edges, so forth. In addition to the question of how “finished”-looking I’ll want it comes the question of the screen tone: I’ve never really used it, and I’m not sure I’ll use it much strictly as intended as tone, but more so as texture. Gotta study up on old comics or something, figure out how to get that pretty offset look, and just experiment a ton. Just download the Clip Studio app for my tiny phone (free for an hour a day) and so far it’s pretty cool, too!

Gloppy, ploppy ice cream cone. Revisiting Clip Studio Paint Pro. Trying to develop a style that’s long been in my head, and so far being pretty successful matching my idea of it. It will take much experimenting. The question I need to explore: how far do I need to work it until it feels “finished”, in terms of the style I’m trying to achieve?

Finally broke down and got myself a spiffy Microsoft Surface Go. It doesn’t do *everything* I wanted, but damn if it doesn’t do a lot! I am loving Clip Studio Paint Pro, which I’ve had for a while but this is kind of the perfect set up for it.

This thing just makes everything easier.

This thing just makes everything easier. On the left is a sketch of my sister’s dog Bennie, drawn without references. Think I got the expression down, but I didn’t go nearly far enough for a proper caricature! He’s a viszla/chihuahua/etc mix. And on the right is a sweet naive little ducklin’.

You’re The Unicorn’s Sparkly Sneeze! A collection of sweet nothings by yours truly.

Just finished a prototype, 5″x7″ inch softcover. Not a perfect copy, the cropping was off, but fun to hold in my hands! The illustrations are by Gordon Browne, from Miss Cayley’s Adventures by Grant Allen, 1899.

I am very proud to have designed the cover for my brother’s latest volume of poetry. Another book should be out soon with another of my cover designs, called “Horrific Punctuation”.

Four billboards I designed for the short-lived revival of Denver’s infamous costume shop, Flossy McGrew’s. Never did get a proper photo of the other two! …and a small bit of general graphic design I did for them as well, for good measure.

This was to be used for the cover for Thimble the Fairy’s Good Morning, Day Dream! Definitely the illustration I’m best pleased with. There might be one or two illustrations I’ve missed, but I think I got all the important ones. :)
