Lord Halcombe has just begun to accept the devastating loss of his young bride at sea when she suddenly reappears almost two years later—with a child she claims is their daughter. But this strong willed, passionate woman is almost a stranger. Honed by a desperate fight for survival, Frances is no longer the naïve girl he’d married. Torn between the pain she has caused him and the love he still feels for her, Halcombe is forced to decide both her fate and his.

Two strong-willed people must navigate a rocky path strewn with heartache and risk. Only if they can learn to put the past aside and build on the future will they succeed in creating the loving union they both desperately desire.

See you in Denver!

I am absolutely thrilled to be the emcee of the 2018 RITA awards, hosted by Romance Writers of America!

I credit RWA with being the single most valuable discovery tool on my journey from aspiring writer to published author, and am delighted and honored to emcee such a prestigious ceremony.

NEW RELEASE: Third Son’s a Charm by Shana Galen @shanagalen

Today, I’m thrilled to have Shana Galen here on the blog, sharing a brand new historical romance release with us!

Third Son’s a Charm

Ewan Mostyn thinks a job as a duke’s daughter’s bodyguard will be easy—but Lady Lorraine has a few tricks up her sleeve that spark an undeniable passion.

Series Name: The Survivors

Genre: Regency Historical
Heat level: One or two love scenes

Grab your copy at:
Amazon
Apple iBooks (iTunes/iPhone/iPad)

Barnes & Noble Nook

Kobo

Google Play (Android)

author photo What was the hardest part about writing this story?

The hardest part about this story was writing Ewan because he’s not a talker. He’s one of those the fewer words the better, so I had to make sure all the words he did speak had special import and were spoken concisely. He wouldn’t waste a single word.

Do you write every day?

I write 2500 words a day, 5 days a week. Sometimes I write on the weekends if I have an additional project that needs attention.

What are your favorite historical romance tropes?

I love fish-out-of-water. Almost every one of my books has this trope in one way or another.

NEW RELEASE: The Highlander’s Princess Bride by Vanessa Kelly @VanessaKellyAut

Today, I’m thrilled to have Vanessa Kelly here on the blog, sharing a brand new historical romance release with us!

The Highlander’s Princess Bride

The illegitimate daughter of the Prince Regent might be expected to pursue various dubious professions. Actress, perhaps, or artist’s model. Even courtesan. Victoria Knight, however, has become a governess—a respectable choice, until she travels to Scotland to meet her new charges. The younger brothers of Nicholas Kendrick, Earl of Arnprior, aren’t children at all. They’re brawny, wild Highland men. As for the Earl, he’s handsome, guarded, and far too compelling . . .

Series Name: The Improper Princesses

Genre: Regency-set romance
Heat level: One or two love scenes

Grab your copy at:
Amazon Kindle
Apple iBooks (iTunes/iPhone/iPad)

Barnes & Noble Nook

Kobo

Google Play (Android)

author photo What was your inspiration for this story?

It’s a mash-up between the classic movie musicals, The Sound of Music and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers–set in Scotland!

Do you plot your books before you write?

I’m an insanely detailed plotter. I generally spend three weeks drawing up character charts, motivation and goal charts, plot boards, creating character biographies, and writing a twenty page synopsis. By the time I’m ready to write, I have a big, organized notebook to guide me.

Who was your first auto-buy historical romance author?

Lisa Kleypas, although I read most of Georgette Heyer’s books as a teenager (I stole them from my sister).
