What was the most emotional part about writing this story?
Like Rosamund and Jeremy in The Westerman Affair, my husband and I had a tragedy in our lives after which we decided we would live life to the fullest. We would pursue our dreams as much as we could, given the constraints of economic and familial reality. So many people yearn to live their dreams, but we’ve tried to make it our way of life. In The Westerman Affair, when I read the part where Jeremy relates the story of how he and Rosamund decided to experience “all life had to give,” I still feel that moment in my own life.
Who encouraged you to be an author?
Chris Baty, the founder of National Novel Writing Month. I read an article about him and NaNoWriMo in the University of California, Berkeley alumni magazine (my library science degree is from UC Berkeley) and I decided to take on the NaNoWriMo challenge of writing 50,000 words of a novel during the month of November. I was so inspired that particular November (2006), that I volunteered for the organization that put on NaNoWriMo. A couple of years later, Chris urged me to join the San Francisco Area Chapter of Romance Writers of America. I did and have never looked back!
Who was your first auto-buy historical romance author?
Madelynne Ellis, after I read her Georgian erotic romance A Gentleman’s Wager.
