Thought-Provoking Article

I just read an excellent article called "Christian Themes in the Harry Potter" by Leonie Caldecott. You can view it at  http://www.religion-online.org/showar...

Many of the author's main points I agree with wholeheartedly.

I am looking forward to my upcoming lectures and book signing at Babel Con 4.5  in Baton Rouge on Saturday, March 20. At this event I am presenting lectures on Christian Themes in both Harry Potter and Narnia and also in Harry Potter and The Lord of the...

SQPN Podcast and Autographed Books

The Star Quest Production Network’s international podcast “The Secrets of Harry Potter” episode 48 “The Battle of Hogwarts” has a brief positive review of The Lord of the Hallows at the end of the episode, beginning at about 01:02:22. Please visit www.sqpn.com to hear it. Father Roderick’s podcast is an in-depth look at the Christian symbolism in the Harry Potter series. “The Secrets of Harry Potter” podcast is hosted by a Catholic priest who lives in the Netherlands. In addition to being a Harry potter fan himself, Fr. Roderick is also a fan of Star Wars, Narnia, and The Lord of the Rings. This show is one of my favorite podcasts, and I am honored that I have been asked to speak on a future episode of this program.

I have an online store for new and used books at http://stores.alibris.com/SilverUnico.... Autographed copies of The Lord of the Hallows are available from me through this store. I am a customer at the Alibris site myself. This website has the best selection of used books that I have ever seen. They also have text books, CDs and DVDs. I have even bought sheet music and instrumental method books there. The bargains one can find at Alibris are numerous and too good to miss! Please enter their site through my store if you visit it. If anyone wants a personalized autographed copy of my book, you can order it from my online store and contact me through this blog concerning the personalized message that you want.

One customer has already contacted me through www.goodreads.com for a personalized autographed copy. Goodreads is another site I’d recommend for people who love books. You can review what you have read, socialize with other readers, and even meet a few of the authors there. I have already given away three free autographed copies of my book at the Goodreads site, and my online sales have increased as a result of this promotion. If you liked The Lord of the Hallows, I’d love it if my readers would give me a good review on this website. It would be greatly appreciated!

Local Authors' Day at Terrebonne Parish Library

Everyone I met there was quite nice, the luncheon was very good, and a few of my fellow authors bought signed copies of my book.  I believe a good time was has by all who were present.

My next book signing event is Local Authors' Day at the Terrebonne Parish Public Library in Houma, Louisiana. This event will be held on...

The Lord of the Hallows Book Signings

I did my first book signings for The Lord of the Hallows at AZKATRAZ 2009 in San Francisco this past July. When I arrived at the convention, I was also pleasantly surprised to discover that I would be doing a couple of author readings in addition to my regularly scheduled presentation as  part of the formal programming. The authors I met at the convention included Melissa Anelli (author of Harry, A History and webmistress of The Leaky Cauldron fansite), John Granger (the Hogwarts Professor...

Con du Lac and AZKATRAZ 2009

Lake Charles, Louisiana is having its first ever science fiction and fantasy convention on the weekend of July 13 -14, 2009. If you would like to learn more about Con du Lac, please visit www.condulac.net. I have two lectures  that I am going to present: "Harry Potter and the Bestiary of Christ: Christian Symbolism in the Story of a Boy Who Lived," which is an updated version of the talk I gave at Babel Con last year, and "Hobbits, Hallows, and Horcruxes," which is about the similarities...

The Lord of the Hallows

Welcome to my blog. My name is Denise M. Roper, and I am the author of the soon-to-be-published book, The  Lord of the Hallows: Christian Symbolism and Themes in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter. This book was written as a result of my involvement in Harry Potter fandom. I have been a fan of the series since 2001 when I saw the first film in the theater.  Immediately after seeing the film, I bought all of the Harry Potter books that had been published at that time. I read and re-read them in...

Hello world!

Hello world!

This is my first post in a new blog for the book that I have written on Christian symbolism and themes in the Harry Potter novels. There's also a lot about The Lord of the Rings in my upcoming book as well. The title I chose for this book suggests both the name of Tolkien's masterpiece and the title of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The next post will explain how this book came into existence.

Please feel free to comment here! :)
